Things never stop around here. HRH's mother and stepfather (who felt so badly here last time they visited) came to pick up dd for an outing. Dstepfil was feeling fine, laughing and happy. But they were walking into a store, I understand, and he fell ill (weak) momentarily and had to have a wheelchair brought. They didn't call an ambulance, but it was a hard moment, I think. Dsecondmil decided to cut the day short and just took dd to Chick Fil A, which was fine.
The schedule came for 9th grade and finally we know that dd got in to 3 honors classes: English, engineering and math (putting her in Algebra II ). We have no way of knowing whether other subjects may have had honors classes as well, just that she didn't get them. Her science teacher had to sign for her admission to honors engineering, so I can't imagine she wouldn't also have signed for science, if it had existed. However, I'm not exactly hoping for any tougher year that this is already shaping up to be. Her first class every day is Psychology and she is thrilled with that. I hope the actual class is at least something like what she believes it will be. She does not take foreign language this year, which surprises me, although since I believe that will be a tough class for her, I'm pleased she won't have to add it to her schedule until she's familiar with the school.

Round #4 in bathroom cleanse = applying tung oil to door, frame and wooden shelf. They are shining now. I will have to wait until it dries (tomorrow morning??) so I can put items back into the room. Tonight I will sort through it and get it organized.
DDIL called and asked if she could spend the day/night with us tomorrow. Absolutely! DDIL is traveling here so DGS6 and DGD1 can visit her Grandparents. DDIL will hang with us until Grandparents are up & ready to see them. DDIL can't stay with her Grandparents because it stresses them too much. She can't stay with her DMom (who lives across the street from her Grandparents) because she hasn't been allowed to enter her DMom house in 8 years (hoarder). DSon is working this weekend so it will only be the 3 of them.
Picked LO up from school and then we went to the park to walk and play. Trying to think of good habits to develop as we establish new school routines. LO had a great day at school and was excited to tell about it while we walked. It is only in the mid 90's here so the playground equipment isn't burning hot and can be used. Sweet!
DGS15 said his 1st day of school was a 6 on a scale 1-10.
DGS17 said his was a 10!
I've had a very productive morning, last load of laundry is in the dryer.
I finished sewing up a shift and it's drying outside now.
I'm packed and it's ready to put in the car, guess I'll start with that next.
House is looking great it will be soon as this stuff is out of here.
I even had a nap!
Ds is home, not feeling too great. I had to fetch him to take him to Walgreens to have his pain med prescription filled; they required his drivers license, which was pretty unhelpful as the trip was a stretch for him. While walking out of Walgreens, he started saying he felt light headed. He looked awfully pale; I asked him if he thought he could get to the car w/out fainting; he said he wasn't sure. . .. . I walked him out w/ a firm grip on his arm and sat him on a bench by the door. Then, I brought the car around and escorted him 10 feet to the car. When we got home, he proceeded to vomit. . . . . but he got it outside of the car on the driveway. Now, he is resting on the sofa with an ice pack (frozen mixed veggies while the wrap around ice pack gets cold again.) He says he may want something to drink, so that is a positive sign. He hasn't eaten anything since 7:45 a.m. He can't take the pain meds on an empty stomach, but he isn't feeling hungry.
Oh, getting new school schedules is SO exciting, Harriet! Does dd14 know if she'll have classes with any of her friends? Our high school doesn't have honors classes for freshmen other than math! But the science is fairly rigorous, as is the math; our high school is very highly ranked nationally for math and science, and we dominate the local chemistry olympiad competition - and have for years. Hehehe. . . I'm not highly impressed with English instruction here, though. Dd15 will be taking her first AP English class, so we'll find out. Ds stayed away from them like the plague. Actually, we don't have honors classes at all; here, we call them "accelerated." Dd14 is supposed to be in the accelerated math, which is geometry AC here. We don't even have engineering courses at the high school! How interesting. . . Dd14 will also be in Latin II, so likely she'll share that class with some sophomores; our middle school is the only public one in the district that offers Latin; kids transferring from the local swanky private middle/high school (where tuition = college tuition ) often have had Latin too. Dd14 won't get her schedule until the first day of school -- unless I can go register for her. SO, she can't go figure out where her classes are before the first day of school. . .
I have only eaten 2 cups of tea, 1/2 a wrap, some fruit, and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese so far today. I was feeling hungry but when ds vomitted, my appetite left me.
I think I'm going to finish the a.m. routine and work on mixing up some lemonade for ds. He is sort of asleep, at least his eyes are closed. He is propped up on a pile of pillows.
I made a second trip back to Target, this time with ds in tow. He wanted to get some new shorts and shirts but his patience with shopping ran out before we could get to clothes. We ended up getting some toiletries (but forgot shampoo,) extra sheets, a shower tote, command strips, pencils, etc. We did locate his backpack, thank goodness. He has a heavy duty LLBean one and was panicking until I found it with some of DH's stuff in our closet. This summer has certainly been a bad one for losing things.
Helia, I've heard that using a bra with an ice bag in each cup is helpful in keeping ice bags on each cheek, LOL!
I'm going to work on cleaning up the kitchen. Dh is home and seems in a sour mood and seems disturbed that I haven't done much today.

Hello everyone! The dryer repairman has come and gone and I have a load containing my bedspread in the wash. Never thought I would be so happy to do laundry. Two people called me at work today about jobs - recruiter types. Of course, I could not talk to them at work! One is going to email me and the other will call at 6 tonight. I realized my Friday will be different now: DD10 is not coming over tonight, but tomorrow night instead.
Tomorrow, the pet sitter is coming to return my keys and hopefully I will be eating lunch with a friend. I definitely will be getting cats to the adoption clinic. Tomorrow night, DD is coming then Sunday I have to entertain her somehow. That reminds me, I need to check out the parks and rec schedule, there is something going on Sunday. I don't know what to do with myself right now.
Elizabeth: I'm confused - I thought you were laid off your job. Why are you at work if you are not getting paid?? AND - if you are not getting paid - why shouldn't you talk to recruiters?
The dishes are finished and the bathroom swished. Still have a load of laundry from last night to fold that is on the bed. A few footsteps and a quick vacuum to finish the rest of the MH.
I was able to get all the poles in the tent while DH went for groceries - but need his help in raising it and staking it to the ground.

Thinking about Bittersweet - haven't heard from her in a long time. Wondering how the wedding was, I don't think she has checked in since then.
Helia - I always get ill from anesthesia too, sorry for DS. Glad you were able to get him into car and get home.
I think Harriet mentioned it, but I was thinking too that you probably could go register for your daughter and get her schedule and locker assignment. I did that for my DS one year in high school when he was away.
Errands accomplished, groceries put away. Lots of Moms and kids at the grocery store, stocking up for lunches.
