So the lawn got caught today.

Earlier this year, she said she'd bring a pressure washer and use it on the patio stones at the entrance to the back yard. It would take out all the weeds in between, then she'd put down new sand/cement mixture and the weeds wouldn't come back. Sounded like $80 well spent plus she'd leave the pressure washer with us for a week.

In the meantime, dh didn't want to pressure wash the siding so he cleaned that with the regular hose and a brush.

Anyway, they came today with the pressure washer and did the patio. Looks great (sand/cement will go in later once they dry completely.) So dh wanted to do the rest of the stuff today.

He went off to sing for seniors so I went to bed and slept. After 2 hours, got up and we went outside. We removed all the furniture off the deck and he started with cleaning that off. Unfortunately, it took the top layer of wood along with the black and green mildew stains so we have a wood coloured deck now. It has always been weathered so this is weird. Dh says it will need sanding and finishing but I'm not sure. We'll see once it has dried off. Right now there is a coarse wood shavings but they may just brush off once they are dry.

The pressure washer took the mildew off the deck box (plastic) and the glass table so that was easy. We decided not to use it on the furniture because we were afraid it would take off the paint.

Dh pulled it around to the front porch where there are grease and rust stains. The grease has been treated with baking soda and then TSP but, even so, they didn't come off. The mildew from the garden plants did but he stopped there rather than work on the whole porch because I can clean it with the regular hose which is quieter and doesn't burn gas.

While dh was working, I cleaned the plastic covers for the deck furniture and then washed off all the chairs. And the wall next to the deck because it was covered with wood bits.

I worked outside for almost 90 minutes and am tired now. My heart rate, when I got inside was way high so that probably wasn't a good idea. I don't feel like eating but am drinking some water with a bit of juice.

Hi Ladies
It has been a rough day, 7.1 still is not holding food down, her fever is still 101, called Dr again and was told it may take a few days for fever to break and meds to start taking effect, 7.2 came home whiney and clingy not a good sign and 8 has a attitude this afternoon way beyond her years so she is in time out til dinner.
I did get the cleaning done inbetween taking care of my little sicky, so feel good about that. Changing dinner to pancakes and fruit, Dh promised me a pizza and glass of wine when they are in bed..he knows how to make me happy ;)
Hope you all had a great day, hope to be back later.

AF - it is great to see you pop in!

Who knows why others do what they do? LO mother (DD) is bipolar off medication (as far as I know). It has been explained to me that during manic phase they don't consider anything as being impossible. I'm guessing she was in a manic phase when she decided to show up and walk back into her children life as if the past 3.5 years didn't happen. Her disappearance over the past couple of weeks makes me wonder if she is out of that manic phase and the bipolar pendulum swung the other way into depression. LO father is an alcoholic. He has been ordered by judge to attend AA meetings, but he doesn't. In their discovery documents they admitted to drinking several times a week as well as drug use.

LO is home from school. On the way home we stopped and walked at track while he told me about the exciting life in preschool  then spent about 20 minutes at the playground.
DGS15 rated today as 9 (on scale of 1-10)
DGS17 rated today as 6

Break time is over. It's back to sanding & scrubbing. I don't think I can finish it tonight, but I'm going to continue to work on it as much as possible.

Well, my goal fast became cleaning up from a watermelon! Wasn't it you, Harriet, that had one explode a while back? I had put the melon on a small tray because dh was going to cut it up for a couple of days. He went to pick it up and asked what all the water was on the counter. It had been leaking & overflowed the tray and everything anywhere near got wet. I was going to take everything off of there tomorrow and clean it -things get so dusty here. There were 3 glass cutting boards covering the counter and it ran under them and on the floor (sticky!). When we picked up the boards there were several 8x10 photos under there -all wet! One was the only one dh had of DS-A and a win he had a few years back in a Sportsman modified. If I'm lucky I'll find more I hope. At any rate -I'm taking a little break from the mess.

I'd rather have this 'mess' than the one you deal with, Okay.

In DH's defense, he was helping me clean it all up and taking the pictures apart -until he got a call and had to go to an RV on the other side of the campground.

Dee, I have also experienced a watermelon mess and know first hand how hard it is to clean up after it. A few years ago I was at the high school for the granddaughters volleyball game. As I was leaving dh called and was not happy. As he walked in the back door, he came upon a watermelon that had exploded. It had ran everywhere. Luckily there were dirty towels in a basket on the dryer and he threw a bunch of them down to get started on the cleanup. We lived close to the school, so I finished the cleanup. Not fun!!!!!

Right, Lilac, not fun at all. I've hand washed the kitchen floor twice now and I think it's still sticky. I'll see after supper. Have peppers on cooking & we're having grilled pepper/cheese sandwiches. DH had some interesting peppers growing on the berm. They only have seeds at the very top -they're long & narrow. If they taste the same, I'm liking how they cut up!

DGS7 spent late morning on with neighbor's boy. Tomorrow they're taking him to her folks' farm a few miles from here. Have to figure out what to do about dinner tomorrow night with dfriends next door. If I don't have dgs we can go catch the early bird special at Red Osier. Think the fly in the ointment will come with the bill because dh wants to treat them -dfriend has done a lot here helping dh. Putting up the solid awnings on the 3 slides (which they took off and re-did this weekend -had 2 switched) and he mows the lawn about 3 times a week. Always is doing something. Know they're not going to want to hear it. :?

Too cool to have Aflyer come by!

Bernice, IWYM about the pizza and a glass of wine! Do you think it's a twin thing? I just ordered pizza myself. (BTW, when dd had strep in May it took almost a week on antibiotics before she was well again - it wasn't one of those cases where they bounce back as soon as the antibiotics are in the system.)

I don't think I posted at all yesterday - I'm trying to stay off the internet at work, even when/if I don't have a lot to do. I was pretty productive for both of the last two days. I'm not working tomorrow and have nothing on the calendar except for a concert that dh and I are to with some temple members. Won't say too much but it is a Jewish rap artist... The concert venue is "standing only" and I suspect us old people will be up way past our bedtimes and on our aching feet!

Very odd but I am thinking of return to a paper planner for to-dos.

Dee: Have DH take the waitress aside and tell her the meal is on him and other party will fight him for the check. She will probably slip it to him. Then you tip her well. DH does this all the time with the kids.
