Back from the store. Having an hour-and-a-half interruption in my afternoon is going to make this interesting, but here's the plan for the bars:
• measure out all the ingredients ahead
• make the bottom layer & put in the fridge to cool; set timer to start mixing middle layer so that it will be done when bottom layer is ready
• while bottom layer is cooling, start a LOL
• also while bottom layer is cooling, measure dry ingredients into bread machine for bread to go with soup for DH & the girls
• squeeze whatever housework I can into time before I need to start mixing middle layer
• mix middle layer & put atop bottom layer
• flip wash & squeeze any other housework possible into time before picking up the kids; last thing before leaving, put yeast & liquid into bread machine & get it started.

Hmm... looks like I'd better get in gear!

Kathryn, I remember an additional issue with the old "red dress" thread & scroll boards was that they were old technology that was no longer going to be supported. Zygorp and I shut down the old scroll board (essentially a proto-chat room for those of you who weren't there), continuing to post for a few hours after the official shutdown time. (I guess I never have known when to leave a party.... 8-) )

OKay, I don't know if you saw my question earlier; I appended it to an earlier post b/c no one had posted in the interim, but you were posting at the same time, and your post came out ahead of mine: Was it you who had the prodigious card counts on the old boards?

All righty, I'd better get going. Maybe I'll get another post in while the first layer's cooling... or maybe not.

Off of I-40 for a while. Getting gas at Santa Rosa. I saved us almost 20 cents per gallon by using Gas Buddy.

Time to roll.

I've s2s and had breakfast (yes, it is 1 p.m. in my time zone!) I walked on the treadmill the whole time I was writing my 'history' post so ended up doing 1.85 miles over 43 minutes. That might be all I accomplish today!

I'm upstairs trying to motivate myself to strip and remake the bed and vacuum and dust this level of the house. Total time to do all this should be 45 minutes.

I'm debating not napping today. I didn't get out of bed until 10:30 so should be good until almost 5:30. I have choir at 7 so if I watch a movie in the afternoon from my recliner, I should be able to stretch my day until 8 when I'm home from choir and just go to bed at that point. We'll see how I feel in a few hours. I don't intend to have lunch today (seems pointless) so I won't be reminded to go to bed after lunch!

That was fascinating, Kathryn. I didn't know a couple of those first tidbits! I thought the ShesInTouch site, hosted by WebForums, preceded the Bound To Be Organized seminars, but you would remember better than me - you attended one of the annual gatherings near P and P's home, I believe? Also there was an important history-moment on that site when we were able to start using "The Threaded Boards" and go into different forums for different areas of interest such as "Kitchen" and, I believe, "Joys and Concerns". That is the precedent for some of the names of our different forums here.

I think the original problem that was going to cause the ShesInTouch site to be lost was that WebForums itself was planning to shut down. They had not been able to get the attention of admins or mods, so our members didn't know. One rank-and-file member (Sunshine? Or something similar.) knew it from another direction and casually posted in one of the threaded forums that with WebForums gone she was going to miss us all, and goodbye. I came into PWYC and asked if any of us PWYC regulars understood her post. Kathryn tried answering her post unsuccessfully, but delved further and learned that, whoops, she had been right and we'd better make a plan! When the reality hit, yes, it coincided with Pam and Peggy's decision to wind down and not host a forum any longer, anyway. CEO was really sweet to step forward and say we could use her guest room! :D

Oh, I'm seeing now that Mystery also remembers the important "Threaded" moment! Mystery, do you remember that you and I (and others) stayed with the ShesInTouch boards until their midnight "lights out". You're right, you never were one to leave a party!

HAPPY VILLAGE ANNIVERSARY MONDAY TO ONE AND ALL!!! :D

This is such a surprise! I didn't know I'd come here, on the first day in October, to find it's an anniversary here! This is great! :D

There's so many posts, and way too many to do a cuop for me this a.m. I'm having a rough morning because I keep thinking about the eye dye test this week, did my Amsler Grid this morning and it still shows a change in both eyes. :( I don't want to sound like a proverbial "Whiny Woman" either, but having a hard time getting to sleep at night. I've had the test before, but never-ever has the Amsler Grid changed in 6 years! I'm thankful I've had 6 good years though! NOW, to crochet that yarn stash down, to scrapbook, make cards, and do all those things we use our eyes for! I refuse to let this get me down! I can't and I won't! Life happens and Life goes on, too! :!: (I need to give myself a pep talk!)

I've decided to just bite the bullet and do other things, to occupy my mind, so I'll try to do these things today:
- walk 1/2 hour
- work on some records for earnings and expenses and print them up
- read on my book, because 1 is on it's way here! (Booksaver- I'm glad I'm not the only one re-reading books.) ;)
- do a mountain of laundry, but laundry is VERY therapeutic for me! :!: :)
- I owe 1 lady a letter, so can work on that
- do my devotion, I've written in my journal already, and I'll pray some more, too.
- I can write on stories, too.

Thanks for listening to me! :D

Everyone, have a great first Monday in October and Village Anniversary Day, too! :D

Mystery, I'm the one making you wonder what's happening with your posts. :D

It may have been Sharon who had even more cards than OKay back on the old boards. Otherwise, yep, you've got all your facts right about OKay. ;)

Nope, not me. I remember Sharon being the Queen of getting things done and tracking SHE cards with #completed/#due today tallies. I wonder if Sharon is still using cards? She was also the one who introduced me to the clothing capsule concept. She had several and would rotate them using SHE cards as reminders. She also attempted to eat from her garden for day/weeks at a time. I found that intriguing & fascinating....because she didn't have to, but wanted to do it. I greatly admired her and always seemed to be learning something new from her. I had her IRL name/address but have lost contact with her.

Lunch is done. Fresh fish, pinto beans, green beans, cooked carrots, pesto and chow chow. Kitchen is cleaned up.

Next up is toes-up time. I'm not the least bit sleepy but will force myself to sit and read.

((((Ivy)))) Bless your heart. Waiting is so hard.

I don't do cards. But I do the equivalent. Morning routine on a page. Evening routine on a page. House conga on a page (weekly routine) that I do a little at a time or when necessary. Focus is continuing on a calendar monthly, something new each week. So that's my system. I came back into all this through FLyL and remembered I'd read some of P & P as a younger adult, went back and read some of those books. I still haven't read them all. That's how I ended up with a household notebook instead of cards. I printed off a lot of CEO's forms / pages so that's my format. Now if only I'd stick to it and do this system...

Started off with supplies to the jobsite and broke down about 3/4 of a mile away......brummm mmm brummmmm screech lots of noise, lost steering, car shut down. Two nice guys in a car stopped, also a nice lady who prayed over my car and invited us to church! and then DH who I called. He got car back home, some research, lots of crawling around on the ground, struggling to get up and down with me handing tools. Trip to auto parts store and back to install. Lower idler pulley, one of those round things the very long serpentine belt goes around...and whola I'm back in business. Drove round the block to be sure. Filled up the water reservoir which was empty again (don't know why).

But sure threw my schedule and energy level off. Too hot outside. Going to rest a bit in front of TV and see if I can get desk cleared off.

DH arrived home from doctor with a report that made us joyful! Doc said all his test came back perfect. The one thing DH needs to do is lose weight. A lot of weight. Doc wants 60 lbs off him in the next year. DH thinks that is tooo skinny but agrees he needs to lose 30 lbs. Soooo - it is back to Low Carb eating for us. The first 3 days are the worst, then it becomes fairly easy.
