Calendaring Well Wednesday

I vacuumed the basement, finished counting and rolling coins and have cut up the Boxing Day party invites to be inserted in the Christmas cards. Now to do the Christmas cards. I'm also going to do ironing since I'm in the basement watching Miracle on 34th Street (original.)

My senior friend phoned to let me know her pre-op appointment is on Friday at 12:15. Dh has a meeting in the city at 1 p.m. so could drop us off at the hospital. We may have to wait after for him, may not, depends on how long her appointment runs. It was 4 hours last time (and then they decided they couldn't do the surgery and referred her to this city hospital.) Anyway, she's waiting to hear if her ddil can take her. If not, we will. This is one of those times where I wish we had a second car. If she was my mom, I'd rent a car for the day, but she isn't really my responsibility so I won't.

My senior friend also got her pre-op appointment for her 'boob job' (she's having a lump removed.) Originally it was for the 24th but she got it moved into January. Good idea since her kidney stone surgery is on the 20th and I don't think she'll be well enough to go anywhere by the 24th (based on how hard my music friend has it with her kidney stone surgeries and my music friend is 25 years younger than my senior friend.) Of course, this will be at another hospital but at least she's going to have a surgery date for that soon. She's been worried about all this and wants it all behind her.

As long as I doing health related news: Ds was through the kitchen and is eating a lot more than he was. But he still is sleeping at least 12 hours a day and is never not tired.

Picked up DS13 and found out that he stayed behind not because he is struggling but because he wants to ensure a good grade on his SOL (VA state test). He is very serious about his grades. He is very mad that the band concert has been postponed... he is the only one who has practiced, this is confirmed by his A+ in band. Also picked up the merchandise, need to figure a way out to bag them up for DP/BFF.

Waiting for the sheet to dry then will get cutting. Dinner will be quick since I am using my new Wok.

After picking LO up from school we visited DParents and took them some goodies. They missed seeing DNephew on the news this week so I played the video of it for them (DNephew had decorated the exterior of home for a family whose husband/father was killed in Afghanistan) Daddy was wiping tears off his face by the time he finished watching it.

I made arraignments to pick DMom up in the morning (after taking LO to school) and drive her to get fasting blood work.

Lawyer office has called twice this afternoon needing information to give to new judge. Still no date for next action though

If I had option of laying down, I would admit that I don't feel good. However, I might as well pretend that I feel fine and get on with the next things.

At this point I have engaged an attorney to move forward with conservatorship/guardianship of dsis. I sincerely hope it's the right thing to do as it was pretty expensive.

On the way home I stopped off at the mall and bought a very nice sweater for dh for Hanukkah and a very soft pair of pajama pants for ds. I already have pajamas for dd. DD will be home on Thursday night or Friday a.m. - I go p/u ds in ATL on Friday evening. Dh is inviting our former dneighbor over for dinner on Sat night and we'll consider that our Hanukkah evening, I hope. (Temple will have brisket and latkes on Friday night and dh and dd will be helping cook & set up, so I doubt we'll have latkes again.)

BTW, dkids will also receive $$ for Hanukkah, but cozy pajamas were always one night's Hanukkah gifts since they were little, so I'm continuing the tradition.

Oy, I still need to take ddogs out for a walk.

(Twins) you are so wise, I'm sure you are the right person to help DSis in this way.

Dinner / Dishes are done. Off to do lunches next. I've been sewing non-stop. It's a race against time!

(((Twins))) Such a difficult decision, difficult situation. I just can't even imagine having to deal with all that you are taking care of! But you are such a good person for your dsis to have in her corner!!! She is very, very blessed to have you looking out for her.

Harmony, oh my goodness... I am right there with you in the race against time!

I know Albert Einstein and all those other people only had 24 hours in their days, too, and they surely had to sleep at least some of the time... but good gracious, I am having trouble keeping up w/my little chores. Of course, a lot of those geniuses didn't do very well w/the day-to-day stuff, either, did they?

BTW -- I love traditional gifts like the pajamas, Twins!
That's why I do Christmas ornaments for all the younger generation in our family. I may stop dniece/dnephews ornament when they have children of their own, but so far, it is something I keep up. I found a PERFECT one for dnephew in his new job -- I think it is a 2009 H*llmark ornament, but I found it on Am*zon -- and I just got dniece a personalized graduation ornament @ the kiosk in the mall. Of course, I have baby's first Christmas -- one for us & one for dgs -- and I was going to let that take the place of ds/ddil's this year... but then I saw the H*llmark ornament w/the Beverly HIllbillies, and it plays the Lester Flatt/Earl Scruggs theme song... so you KNOW I had to get that for ds.
I certainly do hope he is not lurking in our village now...
I think * hope * he and ddil would find us too boring for their taste if they ever do stumble upon us... but y'all know I am sooo paranoid about that.

Oh, helia... you inspire me with your jogging in what must be very cold weather up there! I can't even make myself walk away the pounds indoors... time crunch again.

I wonder how much I could actually accomplish if I just made myself completely stay away from the computer for a week or so...

Harmony, are you SURE you are not really my mother, pretending to live out of state??? Your life is sooo similar to hers. The calendar/the bulletin board... the "if I could only get dh to look at it"... LOL!!!

I am very attached to my calendars too, though. Large wall calendar by the back door... 4x6 (?) Dayrunner calendar in my purse... desk calendar @ school... and wall calendar in bathroom where I keep up w/weight, Aunt Flo, and exercise (or lack thereof).
I don't have my new wall calendar, b/c I really want an Argyle Sweater one or Close to Home, and I cannot find them. I would really like a Far Side calendar, but they are no more.

Are bon bons those coconut things, kind of balls, w/the kind of candy coating... usually pink, white, yellow, or chocolate?
If so... I wish I could sit around and eat bon bons all day... but I'd probably collapse into a low-blood sugar fit if I spent much of the day eating them. Been a long time since I had one of those, but makes me think of dgparents...

Last night, I addressed ALL the Christmas cards, and signed/wrote notes in most of them. DH did about a dozen of them maybe. I inserted pictures of dgs, put all the address labels on... now need stamps and we'll have them in the mail.
BIG HOORAY for that.

talked to dfriend on phone -- husband is suffering from cancer -- I've been putting off making that call for awhile. I was so glad I took time to contact them

Twins - I agree with Harmony your DSis is a very lucky lady.

OKay - speaking from a vet and a family member of vets (my DDad & DSis3) that is touching and awesome what your DNephew did.

So I pinned the pattern and started trying to cut out the fabric with my multi-use sheers because I thought my good sheers had gone the way of every other sharp thing in my house (DS20 ), but I went to double check my sewing box and in the bottom I found my sheers! It is now like cutting butter. :p

I am almost done cutting out the fabric for Mother's/Mock-up Jacket. May or may not get it pinned tonight. I have to be up and fresh in the morning.

talked to three sets of parents, who all acted like I was the greatest thing since sliced bread... LOL... Not really, but two of them were extremely complimentary and reported that their children "loved" me... and one was a second-cousin whom I had never met, but whose parents I know, so I was glad to get to introduce myself to him & his wife
2-hour faculty meeting. Yes. That is not a misprint. Actually, I guess it is. Faculty meeting only lasted 1 hour & 45 minutes. What was it about? Nothing that really matters to me at this point.
Called funeral home re: memorial candlelight ceremony we are going to tomorrow night w/dmil

Happy Hanukkah, Twins'!

We've been trying to keep up with keeping up lately. Last Friday we moved all the furniture in the living room. Dh started cleaning the carpet and got a small square done before rug scrubber motor burned up. Saturday morning he went to W-M and bought a new one and was able to get the rugs done that evening. Yesterday he got the box with our tree down and we put that together. Today we got the tubs down with all the decorations and finished decorating the tree and other decor out. I put a white cloth on the buffet and a red & green table runner on top of that then set up my little 2 ft. tree up with mini decorations on it on one end. The other end will have my Santa Elf which fits over a two liter bottle. All I have left to do is put away a few things from the dining room table.

Monday was a dr appointment for dh, regular gp...another good report - not to change anything. He did ask about when the best time to take thyroid med. She said the best would be about 1/2 hr. before breakfast, but since his tests have been good what he's been doing is working too. One more appointment this month, the last for the year, will be Friday with radiation dr., followup....that should be good, too!
We'll make Friday our errand day for post office, shopping for a few groceries and start our gift shopping. I finally was able to get some ideas and sizes for dgkids in VA. and a couple of the other local dgkids.

Re: Calendars. I use three....one is a wall calendar I use at my desk mostly for the date. I keep a 6 1/2" x 3 1/2" pocket calendar (when open it shows 1 mo. on the two pages) strictly for dh's dr. appointments, blood tests etc. I carry that with me to apts. so I can check dates of new apts. to make sure day/time is free. I have one more for myself I keep in my purse with birthdays, anniversaries, grandkids school concert dates, all family stuff and any other info that comes along.

The mailed-out Christmas cards and newsletters are all finished. Plus two we'll deliver next week when we get our hair cut.

I have the Boxing Day invites to work on but will do that while at the hospital waiting for my friend or on Friday night if I'm not going out.

Ds is eating me out of house and home. He's into the holiday grand plan stores now so is making a list of what he eats and promising to replace it. I'll have to get two more cases of pop as well and they are on sale until tomorrow, so must remember to do that tomorrow when dh is getting his dinner from the Chinese restaurant next door.

I also got the ironing done. Second time this month. Possibly a record!
