Merry Christmas everyone

Greetings from Boxing Day here.
I woke before 6 from a sound nights sleep and rain on the roof. It seems a little lighter now.
I've just looked up weather zone. first it was talking storms this afternoon but that warning is now withdrawn. So I think I'll be fine to drive home this morning. Rain is much lighterto maybe stopped now.

Congratulations to Harriets DD14. wow to having front page above the fold status. A talented young lady.
I hope DFather is able to enjoy this Christmas as much as he can.

Kathryn - I love to here "as it was really" bible times stories too. I'd always imagined Little town of Bethlehem - being quiet - when viewed from a distant hill. Not that I know i there is a hill with a view of the town. Though my image of that first christmas eve in Bethlehem is one of chaos with all the folk ordered home for census on the road and looking for a bed for the night. And lose the romantic idea of a stable. A stable is as a stable is. Hopefully mucked out not to long ago but still a stable.
My local church invited children dressup on (forget which Christmas service) - the usual shepards and angles etc - adding kangaroos and wombats to the list. The manger scene set up featured a magpie and a kookaburra looking on.
And I liked to hear some of the stories behind some well known hymns. Once I had a minister who would do that.

Okay, me and you both, for different reasons. What to do? What to do?

This is TMI but the surgery had caused her to be severely constipated. It couldn't go out so that is why she was throwing up. They gave her a narcotic more potent than morphine for the pain. After her xray it knocked her out. Anyway, she is better and they are heading home. They will come over here at 6:30 or so. So I am running behind. I had already started things after my last post. I decided I needed to have the meal regardless. Still I am running behind.

Lilac or Dove, which one of you has hagelslag en Leyden kaas in your pantry?? That was amazing to read! Where do you find hagelslag in this country? That is another item dh always brings back from NL; it doesn't last long in our family, though. He also brings back kilos of cheese, but he just buys what is called farmer's cheese in Dutch, boerenkaas.

Meal has been eaten and cleaned up. we've gone for a family walk in the arboretum, partially along the path where dh and I jog. I am very sleepy now and will lie down for a while before going over to take care of S and R's cats with dd14. We may watch a movie later tonight; what movie we could all agree upon is a current unknown.

LO begged to play in the snow, so I bundled him up and let him go outside. He didn't stay too long (-4 WCF) but he did stay long enough to climb a drift about waist high to him. Once he got back inside and warmed up, he was ready to do it again.

DH drove to town to check MPB and make sure the heaters are working. All is well. He said some of the roads have 3' drifts on them as well as being covered in ice.

I'm procrastinating on starting the paperwork.

I'm awake. A slightly hyper ds is awake too. After 5 hours sleep. He ate at the hospital before leaving. There's no food on overnights and statuary holidays, just vending machines, but the patient nutrition staff made all staff a Christmas dinner so a very hungry ds had it before coming home after working 12 hours overnight. He had taken a meal for the middle of the night but found himself craving a bagel at 7 in the morning with no options so he grazed from a fruit basket that a doctor brought in for admin staff.

It took over an hour for me to get to bed because of the phone calls. My sister is very upset and not having a good Christmas. Then our annual calls to the sisters.

I called ds and had a video chat with her at the airport in Winnipeg. So if she doesn't get home by midnight, we'll at least have seen her today.

Home again from dinner party. Very nice but dh and I both ate too much and feel miserable! We were on one of the local mountains and it was very, very foggy; another couple left when we did so they could follow us down the mountain.

I'm debating whether I should give dMacs anything - we will have a line of T-storms later and heavy rain and winds.

I don't think I have posted in 3 days. * Whew. * We have just been so busy, it seems, just rushing from one gathering to the next.
It's all good.
My nerves could get away from me if I let them -- already discussed in J&C -- but I'm okay, and truly feeling blessed.
I know four families who have lost loved ones over this Christmas holiday, and I am just happy that, aside from dfil, we are all together here in our little family circle, just as we were last Christmas. I know ddil misses her two grandfathers, who have both passed away this year, as well.
And of course, we have the joy of celebrating dgs's FIRST Christmas! He has really been a trooper with all the hustle & bustle, and he is beginning to be more and more fun -- laughing, smiling, "talking" -- dadadadadada, etc. LOL. DH is just SURE he knows what he is saying and who exactly dada dada dada IS. Maybe he does.

I've got a few things that really need to be done tonight, and then I may settle in for a long winter's nap.

Happy holiday celebrations and Boxing Day to my village friends. A quiet day relaxing at home for me and DH and DS. Content and warm on a very cold, rainy day. Thinking of all of my friends in the village and wishing you love and peace.

I was blessed with dinner last night with my boys, DS20, DFS19, and DS13 and then we opened presents. DS20 loves his laptop (thanks DDad and Mother), and they all loved their homemade gifts from me. I got a Microwave (DFS19 got my VERY OLD one built in 1988), and a Jeff Dunham DVD. We then got up this morning and went to DP/BFF il's for a wonderful early dinner and more presents. The boys got a board game and B&N gift card, and I got a lapel pin and an AWESOME cleaning caddy with natural cleaning products and a daily calender with cleaning tips. Is she my BFF or what, who else would know how thrilled I would be to get cleaning products for Christmas? Then DS13 and I went and see Les Miserables, IT WAS WONDERFUL!!! What a great Christmas.
