Helia, what a great idea for a New Years Eve party!

I totally struck out with my errands....SSA people won't talk to me re: dsis, Honda "express" service was way backed up both times I went by (two hours apart) and the alterations place was closed. I added in a couple more errands - dropped of some old tatty blankets at the pet shelter, gassed up my car and washed and vacuumed and cleaned it a bit. I volunteered to help with picking family members/friends up at the airport for the funeral later this week if needed, so a car cleaning was in order anyway.

I have five phone calls to make then I will nap.

Mission accomplished...car inspected! Recycling dropped off. Cleaned out purse and processed mail while I waited for the car.

Just had a wonderful lunch of deer sausage and crackers. DH's hunter friend gave us the sausage. I love it...tastes like the best summer sausage I've ever had. Have to say deer are delicious!

Our junk food tonight will be brownies and/or zucchini bread. We may not be up at midnight, though. Will have treats at friends' open house earlier.

My tree will stay up until mid-January or beyond. It brightens the dead of winter. Have put away most of other Christmas decorations and have recycled the cards that were hanging up. Also wrote a thank you note!

Good afternoon! it's 1:34 pm here, spoke to dmom who is thrilled to have the girls and d girls are tickled as they are going to their first black tie event, hopefully not their last - as dh are not in that type of work so we can't show our d kids that type of life or meet people in that arena. My d mom is still in it as my ddad was. We never had that as kids as my parents work changed after we all left home. Some of their adventures and the people they met along the way really amaze me. Ddad had to speak at a congressional meeting many years ago and met heads of the Chinese Government etc. as part of his work. I would love to have been a fly on the wall during their adventures. Dh doesn't socialize and I don't really except for friends I meet for lunch and stuff.

hi dee - please relax and put those feet up... enjoy
hi harriet! keep me on task too? :D

time for a focus. card pulled: put away in our bedroom -
errand run (found out that william sonoma had their knives 1/2 off - I had left mine at d aunts and she couldn't find it so I found a new one for 50% off and they are rarely on sale.
Christmas cards bought 1/2 off too.
emptied car of garbage :D

I'm so blessed that dd's godmother put her foot down and said that we would change our New Year's tradition and not get together. They also stayed at a hotel when they came to visit, instead of staying here. To be able to be under the weather and all wooly-headed today, guilt-free, is a wonderful gift.

Harmony: dsil doesn't eat breakfast so that helps balance the calories he takes in. And he isn't big, at least compared to me. But he is bigger than ds (who is worried about his recent weight loss - he is currently 137, at 5'10" but down from 145 all muscle.) My guess is 5'11" and 175 lbs.

I've done a few kitchen chores and ate my lunch. I'm watching the first two episodes of the Downton Abbey I recorded and still have 40 minutes to go so I'll finish up the kitchen chores while watching that.

All day today, off and on, I'm smelling bakelite but can't find anything burning. Dh said he thought he smelled something in the night. I found rotten oranges, have taken out the compost and will do the last garbage bag now but since I'm smelling it through the house, it might have something to do with the fans somewhere. The Christmas lights aren't on so it isn't anything to do with those.

Decided to wait on scheduling Macs vet appt and my hair appt. I have plans for Wednesday, but they might have to be changed if I am helping elderly congregant whose DH passed away. The funeral is midday Thursday, and I already have an a.m. meeting on Thurs and one at 5:30. Friday is wide open but Wednesday 4 - 5 hour trip may need to be rescheduled to Friday. I did schedule Moe for a Friday bath and dd can help with picking him up if needed. And dentist is closed today so no chance of scheduling a dental visit for ds.

Also called post office where dsis' house is. Explained to them that Mary Jane Doe is the same person as Jane Doe, where Mary is her given first name and Jane is the name which she uses generally, unless the more formal first name is needed. Also same person as Mary Doe.

Nap now, hopefully.

what a lovely gift to you and your dh... d kathryn. Happy relaxing new years to you.

I thought my bedroom put away would take over an hour - with laundry it took 1/2 an hour.. I heard a recent reminder that if you let it go until the point you can notice it, it is too far... I guess that's how my born organized family makes things looks so effortless. They don't wait until it builds, they work continually putting away and dejunking.

i have been listening to old dvd's and had forgotten the under 10 min or 15 minute notes on cards. My 2013 cards need to be revamped, which I do beginning of the year, and I have a tendency to loose track of work unless I have a structured amount of time - I totally loose focus. I remembered these cards helped me get more done during those times I only had small blocks of time available at home. so thinking about them again.
