Good afternoon all! Our New Years' get together last night was a lot of fun, though much smaller than originally planned. Dfriend B's dh was sick yesterday so he couldn't make it. And one of the families didn't come at all b/c the dmom was also not feeling well. We had a ton of food!! At the theater, we split between Skyfall and Les Mis; I went to see Les Mis and really enjoyed it! I had to get out my kleenex at the end, and I am not a crying person. Now, I need to finish the book to compare; from what friends (who have actually finished the book) have told me, the musical departs from the book quite a bit, but I've never finished the book. . . . We came back home to find that dd14 had made her awesome choc. chip cake (Cake Doctor book) to go with the really awesome homemade chocolate mousse that one friend had brought. Apparently, this friend's neighbor used to run a catering business in NYC and made it for her to bring to us!! Wow!! It was amazing. It had a little liquer in it. Those 2 plus fresh berries made for a fantastic dessert for everyone! Dfriends who had brought the mousse left soon after dessert since their 2 little boys had not, in fact, fallen asleep while dd17 was watching them. Then, the rest of us played a Dutch card game (De Grote Dalmuti for Dove and any others that might be interested) until midnight and brought in the New Year with Mar telli's sparkling cider and apple-grape juice! I helped dh get the basic clean up done, and then we headed to bed around 1 a.m. I think we ran our dw 2x last night and once this morning already. . . It was fun with good friends.

Dh and I woke up at 10 a.m. today. We lay in bed and chatted for about 30 minutes. So, we've had a lazy day so far. I have done all the a.m. routine, except for teeth care, have made a li&t for the week, and replied to an email to my dsisil, dh's eldest sister.

Dh is going running at 2:30, even with temps around 24 right now and the first .85 miles of the path will likely be snowy and icy. I will join him -- for a walk. I'll bring Pepper with me. Before we leave, I will:
-do teeth care
-switch laundry

I did enough this morning so took time to watch two episodes of Downton Abbey. I think I have 4 left in the season, plus a special to watch that covers Season 3. Season 3 starts on Jan. 6.

I'm off for a nap now. Dh wants a walk after so I can't nap long since the sun will be gone if I do.

Helia - your evening sounds like fun! And the food very yummy! I 'm glad it turned out well.

I've been busy for the past 4 hours, but haven't completed any cards. DMIL drop by with a couple gifts for LO and stayed for a visit. While she was here, DH called from the attic of the MPB needing some help ASAP. DMIL wasn't offended that we gave her quick hugs and left her in the dust (so to speak). After helping DH with MPB repairs, I did a quick clean up at MBP (FYI....spraying water to clean up muddy bays in freezing temps with brisk wind blowing = COLD BODY) DMom had called early this morning and invited us to eat blackeye peas with them, so we were hurrying to finish MPB repairs in time for lunch. Lunch was wonderful time spent with DParents.

LO is down for his much needed nap. I'm going to do some CFO cards.

Happy New Year to all my village friends! May peace and joy abound in our lives this new year.

Waving hi to all newcomers and oldtimers - the village is a wonderful place to visit. I'm off on an adventure with the family today, enjoying the break in the rain.

INE - hope you had a good nap (finally got to catch-up a bit on the phone)

Helia - Your day yesterday sounded fabulous! I loved Les Mis, even DS13 had a tear or two at the end.

OKay - I am jealous of LO may take a clue from him.

Sherinjoy - have fun with DFamily

Whew, the Tree is down and in it's new box! The DS's did not think that it would fit in the box, but I showed them, HA HA! They just took DDog for a walk, I need to look at the flyer for the local Grocery store to see whether I want them to get bacon or sausage. Then I may take a nap. The closet did not get tackled today... maybe this coming weekend. I had the DS's put the Christmas stuff in the Florida Room for now.

Nap easily could have been twice as long but I dragged myself from bed and dh and I got out for a walk. It is above 0 here (actually 14F) and not very windy but with my cold I couldn't walk fast enough to build up internal heat so my thighs and butt got very cold (my body was in a down jacket and I had legwarmers on from knees down.) Next time I need to wear my long underwear.

I'm sipping hot water now trying to warm up

Walked for 40 minutes; it felt good. I was bundled up and quite comfy. It was sunny and beautiful outside! I saw geese, ducks, and swans on the river. There were a lot of people out walking and one person cross country skiing, but dh was the only runner I saw. He was fine running, but once he stopped, he cooled down very quickly and needed to get back inside the car.

I'm going to finish putting away my trappings, switch laundry, and read dd14's latest story. I'm working on an afternoon mug of tea, trying to resist leftover mousse. I think ds ate the last piece of cake. Yay!

I need to email dd14's clarinet teacher too.

Bfast for dinner sounds yummy, scattered!

Good Afternoon, Villagers, :D & HAPPY NEW YEAR, too! :D

Ddil emailed. She had contractions on and off all night, 3 of our grsons woke with fevers, so Dson/Ddil & grsons won't be coming down today. She's on meds to stop and slow contractions, she's resting and emailed from bed.

DH just put chili on in the crock pot. :D

My TA DA:
- Wrote b-days, wedding anniversaries on the main calendar and on my personal calendar in the bathroom next to my mirror, I also included pen pals' b-days and my writing deadlines every month. I also have writing deadlines on my office calendar from where I work from.
- I had coffee, breakfast, meds/supps
- I did 2S2, dressed
- I did my Novena, said prayers
- I tidied my desk top
- I signed 2 contracts to mail off tomorrow
- I did obits, death notices and emails.

TO DO:
- Eat a late lunch, as I'm running later today.
- Start laundry
- Write titles down into my steno pad, then transfer them to my office calendar and day runner according to date and/or seasons
- Put away December list pads and get out January list pads.
- To work on my day runner for work for the next 6 months.
- To crochet on baby items
- To read magazines and on books.

The house is fairly tidy and clean because we celebrated Christmas on 2 different days and nobody's here to make a "mess" except me and I've been picking up after myself today. :)

I hope you feel a LOT better INE!

Kathryn, I'm glad you got a nap and walked, both. Warm underwear is so nice to have on hand for cold winter outdoor walks. Glad it's not very windy there and sorry about your cold. I have 1, too.

I need to run and have lunch and get to work on my ta do/ta da lists now.

Have a great afternoon - evening, Everybody! :D Waving to you all! :!:
