Kathryn, I don't envy your work on those kinds of accounts.
Poor LO. I don't like change either, and I get irritated. I'm sure you reassured him about your going and coming back, etc. DGD2 had to learn that Daddy goes away on a plane and then comes back on a plane. She understands "a couple days" to mean not right away, but soon. She has a little model plane to use when they talk about it. I remember telling grandsons just 2 more sleeps, just 1 more sleep, today's the day! Did his teacher know you were away? I'm thinking she could have helped him a bit.
Oh, Ivy, your DH must be a gem to be so kind with his remarks about your hat!
I got the back porch and furniture scrubbed and hosed off, the outside of the big kitchen window and sliding glass doors too. I got most of the vacuuming done.
They were working on the trucks here today and had lunch inside. New helper is so nice. He calls me Ma'am! I'm not about to tell him not to do that, there is so little respect in the world today. He is the age of my oldest DD, so I am a Mother's age to him.
Then DH called while taking him back to tell me to make an eye appointment for him. He's had a sore eye for a week. 1st thought it was an infection, then maybe something on it, but not getting better. So I got him in at an eye place and met him there. After an exam, with forceps Dr. removed a "foreign object on the cornea at 8:00".

I had to look away. But he is feeling better now and I am very thankful it wasn't anything worse.
Just remembered, he should be putting drops in, so I'll go see about that.
Blessed, DH uses drywall compound, smooths it on with putty knife. If it is just a crack at an inside corner or along the ceiling he will use white painters calk instead because compound tends to re-crack in those spaces.
