Putting pre-diabetics on Metformin is pretty standard. My doc put my husband on it then. It also tends to cause weight loss! My husband went on an extremely low carb diet and lost 70 pounds. He is no longer pre-diabetic. But when I say extremely low carb, I mean under 20 grams a day, and yes that includes vegetables. That is very hard for a lot of people.

Long time no check in. I have things to do. Carpet to shampoo, gardens to ready and plant, knitting to finish. Washing the hand wash dishes in the sink would be a good start, right?

Lilac---I just remembered to tell you my dh takes metformin and one of our local big chain supermarkets gives that prescription free (no copay...need a script from the dr. with insurance of course).

Harriet, it is a low dose of M etformin. I am thinking that she is hoping that by being on it, it will keep it in check while he changes his lifestyle. The thing is he knew he needed to do all these lifestyle changes and now he really has no choice. He can't stand to see me test my bs or give myself an injection, so he knows he doesn't want to do it. I hope he can turn it around. I don't want him to have to do, what I do on a daily basis.

lucylee, I think you contribute to family dinners. Cookies, drinks and rolls are an appreciated contribution in my book. I know that I tend to let dd2 off easy because with her dh being from such a large family, his dm will assign one of the daughter in laws the job of coordinating sides. One time it will be a dessert. The next time it will be a J ello salad. This time it was potatoes or a vegetable. They are having P rime R ib. Dd2 went with the vegetable. His family is extremely large but they don't use any paper or styrofoam plates. No plastic cups or eating utensils. As soon as the meal is over, his many sisters jump right up and get the dishes washed and/or loaded in the dishwasher. Then went it is time for dessert, the sisters all go around and ask what you want and then they serve it to you. Our family has always just placed the desserts on the counter and you can have what you want. Our little family consists of 13, he has more siblings than that. Dd2 really likes all the sisters but the sister in laws are a different story.

Thank you for all the input on M etformin/ diabetes. I can hardly believe that they haven't found a cure for it. This is my soapbox subject. I feel like the pharmaceutical companies don't want that to happen because it takes a lot of meds for each diabetic. I can't even imagine having to test a childs blood or give them injections on a daily basis.

Dh has the new countertop/sink combo set on the vanity with the faucet and drain hooked up. All the tile on the bathroom walls is done. He is going to start grouting the walls and shower tomorrow. He has decided to lay the floor after he installs the heavy shower doors.

My mom told me that my sister in law is coming with her to dgs18 graduation. That will give me the incentive I need to get this house deep cleaned between now and then.

Guess I better head to bed.
