Harmony One of us SHEs has someone they think of to help them find lost items. Is it Cowinkie?

The supper was a success but almost half the meat is leftover. The leftovers that were at the church sold quickly and I got rid of half of what was in the roasting pan in my oven (someone followed me home to get it.) My house still smells unbelievably good. There's enough leftover cakes for coffee hour on Sunday so someone just has to start the coffee and we'll be ready to go.

Don't want to think what my electricity usage will be today. The oven has been on since 1, plus the furnace ran all night due to the cold.

Back from skin and eye Drs. I look like an owl with my eyes all big.

Released from both until next fall - so all good. No diabetes damage to eyes - macular something but not degeneration. That's why I have to go back to see if it has progressed. It is treatable with surgery right in the office. So I'm not going to worry about that.

Going to go lay down until my eyes get back to normal. Bright out today and I now have a headache.

Edited to say: It is a macular pucker. Not serious. It is because the gel in the eye gets thicker and pulls this little part out. Dr. says like saran wrap on pudding. The pudding dries out and makes wrinkles in the saran wrap which distorts vision. Telephone poles have a crook in them and sometimes when I read at night - my K indle looks like it has a wave in it.

Well... I made it! Sorta. When I turned out the lights for the last time... at 6:00 pm... I was the last person to leave the building... and I just kinda had melt down. That was when I started crying... just thinking, This part of my life is OVER. I have spent FORTY YEARS out of my 52, in this building.

I entered this school in the fall of 1973, a scared little seventh grader in a little red & white skirt outfit dmom had made me (our school colors, and it had a little Snoopy-dog print on it, LOL. I thought it was just the cutest thing in the WORLD.)
Ten years later, I was offered the 9th grade English position, and that is where I have been ever since.
In the meantime, I spent 3 years in college (while dh was teaching & coaching at the same school, so I was still closely connected) and I had 1 year of substitute teaching at the same school.

When I was IN 9th grade, actually taking English in the same room I left today, I truly realized that teaching is a calling, and I felt sure that this was what God had in His plan for me... and He opened the doors for me... and I have no doubt that it is His will that I shut them today. But boy... I'm awfully emotional about it right now.

I'll be okay... just scared, facing CHANGE again. But I'll be okay.

((((lucylee)))) I am so proud of you for making the leap into what will soon be your new normal. Your dgs will be having his 1st birthday before we know it.

Dh just called. He is at a nice Best Western Hotel. He is thinking of staying there again tomorrow if they have an opening. Then he said he will go by his sisters on Sunday morning and head home. He was debugging his bike. He said he doesn't really care to meet up with them and run on their schedule. I really don't see him doing this with them again.

I am tired. Dgd3 will be over in a little while to spend the night.

lucylee, you'll always be a teacher. Like you said, a calling. I think that's kinda cool that you turned out the light and were last to leave.

Kathryn, there is absolutely no reason to worry. Everything will be fine.

Elizabeth, I never thought of it but yes, anyone in you and exh's position would be glad there were lots of people around. Have her Vitamin D level checked.

Emptynester, it sounds like a good report. Like you said, why worry about something they can fix in the office if they choose.

Kathryn, he is quite bright and conscientious. He'll have thought of all the things he should.

Lucylee: you made me tear up. Of course you are emotional and you deserve to be. If you weren't then you shouldn't be teaching since it means your heart wasn't in the job.

I'm off to bed now. I need to be up really early in the morning because ds needs to be out of here by 7 and I want to hug him before he goes. He has a Spartan Race tomorrow and another on Sunday.

Just checking in.
Yesterday I got caught up on a bunch of chores, and proofread various drafts of the sewing group newsletter.

Today was errand day and I put a bunch of miles on my car. I picked up the newsletter from the copy place, and it needs to be folded/sealed/labeled/stamped but I'm leaving it in the car until tomorrow. Since there's no mail on Monday, I have an extra day to finish the process so I'll wait until I have time to sit and watch a movie.

I am not sure what DH has planned for this long weekend. The weather prediction is for rain starting tomorrow morning and lasting all 3 days.

I've been trying to cuop, and truly enjoyed reading about everyone's activities.

Okay ~ I had to read your link for "burpee" because I hadn't heard of an exercise called that. Of course when I read the description I recognized it, we used to do those in gym class. I don't think I'll risk trying that just yet ... maybe after I've been doing my other exercises consistently for awhile.

(Elizabeth) Poor DD with a broken leg.

Oh (Harmony) I feel for you with lost keys. Any chance your DH might have picked them up and stuck them in one of his pockets, and did it so mindlessly that he doesn't remember it now? And papers ... well, you've all heard me gnashing my teeth at papers around here.

(Harriet) I'm sorry you and your DDad have had a rough day.

(((Lucylee))) Ready to have some fun this summer! And if anyone outside your immediate family wants you to do ANYthing for the next full year, remind them that you have a new grandbaby AND your DMom is a new widow so you have no time for anything else. Or, even better, just keep repeating, "No, that won't work for me. I have already made other commitments." It's no one else's business what those commitments are. Or maybe a softer, "I'm too busy trying to get caught up on all the things I couldn't do when I was working full time."

Lilac ~ I'm glad your DH called to let you know he's doing ok on his own.

Kathryn ~ One of DH's sisters showed us that video on Mother's Day. That Ukelele Orchestra has quite a variety of videos on yt.

Hello to everyone!

Happy Birthday Dee!

Ds#1 & ddil were here early this morning bringing the bookcase headboard which we put in the small bedroom with a twin bed. Now the bed comes just to the door frame and the door won't close all the way. So at some point I will have to turn the furniture around. That's ok though as there are a couple of different ways to set everything around.

Dh's dr. apt was with cardiologist. The ultra sound on his carotid artery was good --- no problems there. I didn't really think there would be with all the meds he is taking! The dr was more concerned with glucose blood test which is back up to a little over 7.0. This dr. always wanted the number to be 6.0 or under. Last fall dh decided to quit taking actos because of the concern of bladder cancer. So now dr suggested he go back on it or another one starting with J. which we've heard things about also. So we'll see what primary dr. says. I think he's been eating more dessert type sweets than he should, so we're going to concentrate on a better diet for now. Maybe we can get the numbers down again.

Congratulations on retirement Lucylee! I know that last day can be bittersweet and there is a "feeling lost" emotion that one feels, especially after such a long time at the same place. You could always sign up for substitute teaching. It won't take you long to develop a new routine!

Lilac... thank you for nice thoughts of our dsons. We are very proud of who they are as adults! Sounds like your dh is on the positive road deciding to visit his dsis.

Dove, sounds like your basement will be a nice relaxing space when you are done; you have great ideas on organizing to get ready for the work! Also I wanted to say how sweet that you and dh take the opportunity to be close when you share your hymnbook. ♥

Harriet, I meant to tell you that dd14's concert sounded really nice! Sorry to hear you and ddad had a rough day. ((Hugs)).

Tomorrow we will be going to dfam#1. Someone is having a surprise b'day party for dgd15 (to be 16 on Sun.) at their house. I've already sent her a card with gift card in it, but we want to have something for her to open with other gifts, so we'll stop on our way to get something small, cologne or make up, or so.

Cowinkie, good idea to be a rain shower; it probably felt nice and cool to the nesting mama! (Who is it that you call on to find lost items?)

MT, I've never heard of the condition, macular pucker, but I've mentioned it to dh just for future reference. It's good that there is a corrective procedure to fix it. Glad your dr. apt was good!

BookSaver, it seems like it rains around here or threatens to, every year during the Memorial Day Weekend.

Dgd3 showed up in a cute dress with her hair in French braided pig tails. She had on her big sis necklace. She brought a blanket, pillow, sleeping bag, jacket, purse full of 4-6 inch dollhouse family members, a pair of play dress up heels, pjs and a change of clothes.
