AWWWW Harriet! That is so sweet and what I like to hear. You too Cathy!

I love it when couples show they really really care, even when they have been married for a long time. Thursday morning was the 30th anniversary of when Mr. Guy and I met. It was in Seattle at my girl friend's house. She was my best friend and his cousin. He was visiting on vacation from Reno and he had asked her (

) to get him a date with a rich widow. Instead she had me over for dinner - a poor divorcee!

Anyway when I got up on Thursday morning he said "Come here! Come here! Quick!" I thought something was terribly wrong but he just gave me a big kiss and said "Happy Anniversary". Our 30th wedding anniversary is December 28th and we are even happier than 30 years ago.
We wasted a whole morning in Carson City having our 3 years of taxes ammended. I totally dislike having to do things twice. Can't people just get it right the first time. I guess I can't complain to loud as we will get $162 back, plus (I hope) some or all of preparers charges. We shall see. Also have to go back next Wednesday to the medical center to have them take a reshoot of my right breast. They will never take my word for it that that calcification has been there FOREVER. Stop hauling me back year after year for nothing.
I am wondering if Cowinkie has left yet to see her Mom. Think I will call her.

AH!! HRH - thank you for thinking about our Harriet!!! You are an alright guy in my book.
Echoing MT's praise for HRH's thoughtfulness.
Took a long nap - hoping I'll be able to sleep tonight. Dh was gone when I got up this morning, came in when I was away with Macs and left to play tennis (I think), and then I was asleep when he came back. I think he's at the pool now getting sun.
We're taking a young neighbor couple out this evening for dinner. Their first baby is due within the next two-three weeks.

(((Ivy))) I'm sorry it didn't work out this time.
BWTG to HRH & Harriet!! What a good example you are setting for your children & grands.
CPA called and had our taxes ready to be picked up so we ran to town and got them. It was a good news/bad news moment.
Good news = our income went up last year.
Bad news = the government wants a bigger share of it.
Good news = we have been planning and preparing for this moment
Bad news = 6 large checks need to be written and put into the mail.
I took all the key holders down to better organize them. It seemed like such a good idea when I started. However, now after being interrupted several times I've lost my motivation. However the dining room table is covered with piles of keys, lanyards, clips, etc so I can't really stop. Better grab some get-up-n-go and finish what I started.

Long day. I'm exhausted.
It is nice to come back to the village and see some romantic couples (yes, Harriet, a trip to the recycle place is romantic) and a new board grandbaby!
In all, 2/3 of dh's sisters, our son, and dh came along with her dsil. Turns out Uncle was at a day-away program. Just as well, there was too much commotion, not the least of which, the front door was propped open and he could have wandered off. Her dsil had just stopped in for a moment to drop off industrial fans to help dry out the basement but when he saw all the cousins there, he (and his mom) pitched in. They were on their way to their family Christmas!
They got an awful lot done. Grandma would have been proud of how we all chipped in. She was always the outsider because she was poor, French Canadian, and my dfil was from a 'good' family. His parents never approved of the marriage. His brother (the uncle now suffering dementia) was well respected and well connected in social circles not just in their small home city but even in Toronto. And he married a socialite. So my dmil never measured up to this Aunt's standards.
Once my ds was born (and named after his great-grandfather and the only male to carry on the family name), this aunt did seem to approve not only of ds and his success but also of me. Maybe it was a way to get under dmil's skin, or maybe she just realized that I had similar values to hers regarding family history.
Uncle has always be wonderful and loved by all of us. He was close to his brother (dfil) and a real godsend with ds with my dfil died since he kept telling stories about dfil when he was 'bad' and it helped ds realize that even if one is 'bad' at one point in one's life that doesn't define who you are for the rest of your life. (As ds said, "The last thing Grandpa knew about me was that I was bad" which was very true because at that point ds was very bad.) Uncle seemed to help ds through that to know that no matter what, his grandfather had loved him.
So, when the call went out for help today I was glad that ds unquestioningly agreed to help. And I'm glad we went too, even though I could do nothing to help. I did get a lot of the service for July 21 written.
After 2.5 hours we headed over to dh's third sister's house. She and her dh were busy pulling together the party for all of us. When the news of the flood first happened, they had offered to cancel the party and all come over to help but Aunt had refused. So her request for help this morning was particularly galling. But she was completely overwhelmed and suddenly realized she couldn't manage on her own. Her own two daughters are up at the cottage (over 1000 miles away), getting it ready for her to arrive with Uncle for the remainder of the summer.
The party was low key but good. Three of the younger generation brought 'dates' and it is great to see them growing up. The cousins get along in groups, but there was more mixing up this year than others, perhaps because of the dates.
Food was fantastic. Google Ice Cream Sandwich Dessert for an amazing dessert.
Ds will sleep over there because it is closest to his run tomorrow. He was going to sleep in the car but I asked his aunt if he could sleep on the couch in the basement.
We left at 8 and were here by 10:15, a much easier drive home than anywhere else today because we avoided the main highway (which was blocked each time we went anywhere earlier today.)
I'm off to bed in a few minutes. Just needed to type all this out so I could settle my mind. I tried to sleep in the car on the way back but could just relax, not sleep. Hopefully, I'll be tired enough for sleep now.
