Fireplace guy came. I don't think it is perfect for what he wants (to heat a 400 square foot vacation home loft on the occasional weekend he visits it in the weekend.)

I've been spinning my wheels, waiting for ds to leave for dinner with friends. Now to get to writing or to go to bed. It is a toss-up. I have a bottle of Dr. P to keep me awake if I choose the writing work.

I'll wash up the dishes first and then decide.

Got an update on the woman who dropped by the church today. She heard the heartbeat at the ultrasound, so for now, things are fine. No-one is out of the woods until a healthy baby is delivered, but for now, things are fine.

Funny how I used to take procreation as a given. Now it seems a miracle any baby makes it to term!

Thanks for getting back to us about that, Kathryn.

lucylee, I think reading was the right choice! HRH and dd went out this evening and I sat with my little supper and watched tv and let my hair dry from my shower. I think that was a wise use of my time.

Dd33 tells us that WonderBoy has gotten some bad conduct bulletin-board notes in Kindergarten because he talks too much. Dd15 was delighted, since that sounds exactly like what happened to her and she's happy if he is like her. But she also says she remembers how upsetting it can feel to have disappointed the teacher, whom you just LOVE, and not really understand how to stop talking. She says she knows he keeps talking because he loves school so much, and she hopes he doesn't get discouraged from that.

Oh, Congratulations on the ribbons at the state fair, Elizabeth!! Are there photos posted? I'm going to take a look.

Dinner guests have gone home. Kitchen is clean. I've taken care of some social emails I'd let sit for a couple days and also an email to orchestra uniform parent re: getting together to put away concert uniforms before the next home game Oct. 4 when band director wants to use all the racks for marching band uniforms during the day. The 2 upper bands are marching, and kids don't get to go home before the game, so they must bring their uniforms in the morning and they must be stored during the day. It sure makes for a long day for the kids; they get home from school around 10 pm on days they march. But the salient point now is that when we put away the concert uniforms, we can't also pull the reserved uniforms and hang them on the racks, as we typically do. . . I think the orchestra parent is not going to be happy about that.

Dh has asked me to find some pictures for his talk tomorrow. He includes a power point with some interesting illustrations for these talks.

Congratulations, Elizabeth! Your needlework must be very pretty. Sorry about your car and roof.

I spent a little time in a bunch of stores buying a baby shower gift. Her lists were very small at the 2 places she registered, and most of those things she wanted were online only. So I just went and got something nice at a nice store with a gift receipt. I hope that will be alright.

Was feeling pretty good for a little bit. A walk through the mall was tiring though and I didn't get to the last store I wanted to go to. Will do that tomorrow.

I don't have the gift of hospitality. It's always a stretch. I want everything picked up, everything cleaned, and the food delicious. I keep trying to pare down my own expectations, that's a work in progress! I will say though, some of my family I don't mind coming if I haven't fussed. Isn't it interesting who we are most comfortable around?!

:D CONGRATULATIONS, ELIZABETH! :D

You do beautiful work!

I made a visit date with a neighbor's husband. The lady I'm visiting is 75, but health took a turn for the worst, suddenly, and now she's feeble and looks 95. I gift-bagged up a crocheted hot pad and hanging dishtowel for them. She has a care-giver, too, who leaves early afternoon. It'll be hard to visit, knowing she may not have much time, but I refuse to tell myself to visit someone and then have it be too late. Been there; done that and am not going there again.

I took my summer clothes, put them in a bin, hung winter clothes, have some to wash first, before hanging and swept and mopped the walk-in closet. I put gift bag boxes on the bin. 1 round basket of yarn's on the floor. I also mopped in the bedroom, it took me 1/2 hour to do all this, I worked up a storm, and got hot and sweaty. Time to rest this evening now and wind down. Got 2 letters written this afternoon, 1 this morning, and am too tired to think to do more. Will relax, read, and perhaps crochet. :?:

Have a good night, Everyone! :D

Quick check-in. It's been a long day. Dh's INR check was good. Follow up with cardio dr. not so good --- well, turns out he was in AFib and dr. sent him right next door to the hospital. I think the dr. thinks it's because dh was taken off the one med. that mostly controls the heart rate. They did a procedure on him under a short term anesthesia, took about 30 sec., and his heart rate was back to normal. We'll see the dr. tomorrow and find out how they will change his meds again. It is possible that he will be home tomorrow.

I've called dsons tonight and will make a couple more calls tomorrow morning.

Congratulations Elizabeth! you do such pretty work and that was so wonderful for you!

When we have company over I like the house to be neat and clean. Most important for me is the kitchen and the bathroom. Then I make sure furniture is dusted, floors mopped and carpets swept. Our house has a comfortable, lived in look, and it's almost always family who visits.

I'm sorry not to be more sociable right now, but I have a couple more things to do then I'm going to bed!
