I made a trip through McD's drive through in my pajamas this morning to pick up coffee

I nodded in understanding when I read this but then became confused when several made comments about the attire. I had to go back and read it again. When I read it (the first time) all I thought about was how bad Twins needed her morning coffee. I totally understood that need!

This morning I was up normal time (5am) and about to tip-toe down the stairs to get my first cup of coffee when LO woke up and insisted on going with me. We quietly came down the steps and was greeted by their GIANT German shepherd dog who decided it would be his duty to follow close behind us. Whispering and tip-toeing we proceeded on to the kitchen where I popped a pod into coffee maker (single cup). Before it was finished brewing (30 seconds?) DGD2 woke up and wanted to hang with us.

So.....before 5:15am I was carefully holding a MUCH desired hot cup of coffee in one hand, carrying DGD2 in arm on the other side with LO holding onto the hem of my PJ shirt while we slowly climbed back up the stairs one step at a time......now with both dogs following along behind us. The need for a cup of coffee created our early morning mini parade. It was OH SO worth it!

My finally friday was totally unnoteworthy. Maybe the bit of rain / storm we had late afternoon.

Ouch to Elizabeth. Hoping your foot heals sooner rather than later.

Smiling at the coffee parades ... OKay, Twins .. (I heard of an mum who forgot what she was wearing at school dropoff before she leapt out of her car on a gusty day.)

Glad you are staying put Lilac. Moving needs to be at your decision, not someone else's. Besides all the effort - it is expensive to move.

I need to get my Saturday underway.

I am thankful that I have my wonderful friends here who will hold me accountable and remind me to not move. It's nice to know that you all have my back.

Our overnight low is suppose to be 27. Dh finally relented and blew out the sprinkler system. Talked to dd1 and her dh done theirs this evening, also. I am hoping dsonil2 will do theirs.

Dh told me tonight that when he had such a bad day on Tuesday that he had told the plant manager that he was seriously thinking of retiring after his birthday. Today he told him that he did NOT intend to retire. He said the guy clapped his hands and stated that that was a big problem he wouldn't have to worry about. Then dh told him that he was seriously considering stepping aside from his management position after his birthday, so that someone can have a chance and also be comfortable in that position with dh available for advice, etc. Dh could then be a shift supervisor. The pay would not be that much less and dh always loved shiftwork. They work a 5 week rotation and every 5th week, they have 7 days off. The shifts are 12 hours so they work 17 days out of 35. This would reduce dh's work stress level and he would be able to work longer. Win-win. The policy has always been up or out, but dh said very few have retired from the operations side of the business. Most have just moved on. He said the plant manager didn't say no. Dh started work there in April 1982. He is the only employee from the control room level and up that is still there. The last guy retired 8 years ago. Dh sent his resume to this company in Nov. 1981. They didn't start taking applications and interviewing until Feb. 1982 and when they called him to set up an interview they told him that he was their first applicant. He has more than proven his loyalty and ability. I know he is a great asset to the company.

If you haven't read Cowinkies post in the cafe section, about the robe, be sure to read it. I was cracking up after reading it and dm called. She wanted to know what was so funny. After I told her, she said that is one of the funniest things that she has heard in quite awhile. She did advise me that I shouldn't do that, since our stairs are so close to the front door and dh could fall down them.

Harriet, I understand about your writing past now. I also hope your kitty's laxative works well for it, too, and that it's not too messy once it takes effect. Is it too young to use the potty box yet? How old is it now?

(((Dee))), I hope the Tylenol works for you and that your sore throat doesn't turn into something serious. I use Fisherman's Friend cough drops, which seem to coat my throat very well, but some people prefer candy-tasting cough drops, which don't work for me. Also, there are herbal teas, I'm not for certain on the brand, but I think it's called Traditional Medicinal s, , but can be wrong. They make a "Coat Throat" herbal tea, they have Gypsy Care Cold Care Tea, made by the same people, and their teas really work well, for herbal teas. They're comforting because they not only work, but they're warm and sort of feel like you're being pampered when you need it most. Nobody likes to be sick. I hope you get well soon.

It's 8:03 p.m. here, DH is snoring to the football game, he loaded and unloaded and stacked a 1960 Chevy dump truck load of firewood today. They sawed, split, etc... So DH is beat. Tomorrow begins college football in the morning until night, too. I have stories and snail mail to work on.

My midriff's been so terribly sore today and I couldn't figure out why. Well, I finally figured it out! It was from this morning when I blew with my entire heart and soul into my peak flow meter three times, to get more air into it for a higher reading. Somehow I guess subconsciously I figured by flexing those muscles would work the lungs for a higher reading. What it DID was work the upper abdominal s so NOW I know if I want to work on my midriff, why lay on the floor to do sit-ups! Just go use my peak flow meter for a few times instead!

We've been having such heavy dense fog in the mornings, then it slowly burns off, but today it didn't show a glimpse of blue sky until 4:30 - 5 p.m. for a minute. I hope it burns off sooner tomorrow. It'd be wonderful to see sunlight sooner. Although.... the sunshine is showing the dust on my dining room china cabinet glass shelves. I need to get to it one of these days, especially before the holidays.

Harriet: Just as I read your post about the laundry, my dryer stopped. That load of laundry took way too long today (I started it 11 hours ago!)

Spent the evening looking at apartments currently for rent to get a sense of the buildings available and which ones have large enough units for us (I'd like at least 1500 square feet, preferably 1700, and laid out well, not artsy because that's always wasted space.) Found two more buildings worth consideration. I'm starting to think the place we think we are going to is unsuitable because although it is on water it isn't water that boats are on, and I want boats to look at.

Talked with my senior friend. Froze 2lbs of burgers, 1 lb of ground pork, and made up two recipes of ground beef & rice chowder for the potluck on Sunday. Washed up the dishes. Helped dh get the garbage out.

Off to bed late but at least the sheets will be dry and folded before bed.

I think I was fifteen when this happened which means the event took place in 1965... It was a much more innocent time back then which is one reason I thought it was so funny.

Plus it was the first time my mom included me when telling the story and I remember thinking I must be growing up and not just a kid any more.... Like I was sort of included with "the girls".
