No burger buns so we went out to McD's for dinner and I grabbed the few groceries I needed while we were in the market town. We have butter once more (I refuse to pay full price for it and it was on sale last week but sold out. It was sold out again this week (a different sale) but Wally World graciously price matched a different brand since they were also sold out their store-brand butter. The check-out girl tried to charge me $2.22 for 2 lbs of butter so I graciously pointed out the price was $2.88 each, save $1.11, not $1.11 each. After she was good to me, I didn't want her to get into trouble by making a mistake.

I have dinner planned for tomorrow night (beer can chicken) and for one of the days next week when dd is back here. The other days we'll plan out tomorrow night. Dsil is hard to feed (doesn't eat beef or turkey and doesn't like a lot of other foods) so we'll work around that. I have a flank steak we can have one night if I can have him make his own meal that night (he's good about doing that.)

Emailed the musical director at the Nov. 3 church and gave him my theme and my after sermon hymn. He may not know it so I sent along an mp3 of it as well. So I appear to be on top of things. I'm not really but have perfected the illusion.

Dh is back at this keyboard so I'm going back to the basement to pack away another box.

Keep me posted, Kathryn, if you find anything over 20 years old!! ;)

I purposefully let the license lapse, thinking I would not return to teaching K-9. I think it kind of had bad connotations for me too. I switched from a pre-vet major to an education major after 2 or 3 semesters (can't remember?), in order to "keep" my boyfriend at the time who had declared he could never be married to a vet. .. . That speaks volumes about what I was like back then - and what this guy was like. Education was an acceptable major to him. In contrast, dh would have been delighted if I had become a vet!! :)

Went to Hebrew class. Learned the yod to English J was via the Latin translation of the Bible. In Latin, "j"s are pronounced as "y"s. I had forgotten that. Learned of a pronunciation difference btwn. modern and classical Hebrew, which I hadn't noticed before. .. . . Got a dinner of leftovers on the table. Took dd15 to drumline practice. Kitchen is clean. I emailed out dates and time for 2 moms group meetings, so that process has been started.

I may run a couple errands tonight - Walgreens for dd18's script, and the library to switch books on tape. Dd15 should have a ride home; if not, dh can pick her up since I brought her.

I am good on points - if I don't eat anything else today. I may have a cup of tea.

Good night all!!

Happy Birthday OKay! Hope you had an enjoyable day!

Aww, Lucy, you're so sweet! Glad you had a chuckle. BTW, I think your dgs is fine. All the first babies I've known, including my first ds, seem later talking.

BookSaver must be enjoying her new-to-her sewing machine now!

Helia, congratulations on renewing your teaching certificate. Interesting facts about the language differences.

Dee, glad you had a nice time at dsons. It's fun watching all the tiny tots, isn't it?!

Dh's blood test this afternoon was better, within the good range. I hope it is finally stabilizing again, but nurse still wants to see him again on Fri. Today was desk day; I got the last of the Oct. bills paid, mostly online and one out to the mailbox. Tomorrow is Phys Therapy for dh.

I liked the story of Fiddler On The Roof. I saw the stage play a long time ago when we lived in Pgh. with Zero Mostel and have watched the movie with Chaim Topol many times.

Had the weather channel on in the background while working at my desk and I saw pictures of the fires in Australia. I hope they are able to get them put out quickly.

Ddil#2 yesterday told me that she has finished a couple more classes, early. The end of her semester is a few weeks away. She will be done with all her classes by the end of this school year in May except for the classroom student teaching. When she gets her certificate she will be able to teach special ed. from pre-school through high school.

Time to let the dogs out for their last walk.

Hello everybody!

BELATED ANNIVERSARY WISHES TO LUCYLEE & DH!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY OKAY!

Some thoughts from cuop the past few days: Lilac, you should move only if it is exactly what YOU want to do, where you want to live, and it benefits you. I'm wondering if you would have moved when you did if you weren't trying to help out DD...if that had been anyone else's house would you have bought it?

OKay, wondering how your new paperwork plan has worked out in the long run?
Elizabeth, I always thought you sound very classy the way you've handled everything. I hope your foot feels better.

Sunny, as for keeping up while doing errands, etc., you have to remember I am in an area where I do not have to get on a busy interstate to get from point A to point B. I can travel the whole length of our county in 35 minutes or so. My bank is only 2 miles away. And sometimes when we get really busy with trips out I do NOT get anything else done!

The DGKids (2 youngest grandsons) were here this weekend while DD2 went to her HS reunion and football game. It's been busy around here! I went shopping with DD2 for her shoes but she ended up looking and trying on dresses and we were literally running from one store to the next...and that is way too much stress on this old body of mine right now.

So later on that day my arthritis "bloomed" everywhere and I could not bend, could not get out of a chair, certainly couldn't pick up anything off the floor...and ended up taking a pain killer which did not seem to help much. Thankfully it only lasted a day and I am back to my usual level of stiffness.

I got all those projects done as much as possible now. Waiting for feedback and paperwork to come in the mail... DH went to a function at church and I sent my big salad with him (Saturday) and there was so much food he brought more home than he took with him. I had roasted a chicken and made mashed potatoes for us so with this other stuff I won't have to cook for a few days.

I hope everybody has a great week!

Hi Harmony

It sure is good to see you.

My day certainly had some movement to it. There was a nasty smell in the kitchen that I couldn't find. Cleaned the drains and stuff like that but it didn't seem to help. Decided perhaps something had dripped on the floor and I hadn't noticed it. I got out my spin mop to clean the kitchen area and the next thing I knew the rest of the tile in my house was clean too. I love when that happens.

Did several loads of wash, picked up foot prints and all that jazz and then went off to sub for the rest of the day. I love my friend's classes so it really was a blast for me. You think one kid/child babbling for the day is exhausting, try 30+ for 7-8 hours a day, five days a week. Is it any wonder when I come home I don't want to talk much.

Not sure whats on the agenda for tomorrow. I never finished my office cause I ended up mopping the house, which means I want to vacuum the house in the morning. But I need to pick up all the stuff I moved to the floor when I was working on my desk yesterday before I can vacuum. Makes sense right??? I also want to dig through some boxes out in the garage that have some of my older clothes in them. I need the space to put other things there so I will be playing that sliding game Twins and Helia are always talking about.

I do have a question for you Helia...excuse me if you've already answered it and I missed your response. You said you had your teaching license renewed. Did you not have to take a multitude of tests to get that done??? Here in AZ and several other states that I know of you have to take and pass state required tests just to teach even if your certificate is valid in the state you are coming from. Here I was required to take extra classes on the constitution and history for AZ state. Plus I had to take tests in the subject I was already qualified for before AZ would issue me my certificate.

My certificate is good for another 4 more years. I don't think by the age of 67 I really want to go through the hassle of renewing it. I would need 180 hours of professional development classes to qualify. Think when the time comes I'll just call it a done deal and leave it at that, but then again ya never know.

Waving nitters to ya'll I'll cya in the morning...Sleep tight.

BTW Elizabeth.... I think you're one classy lady as well, with a bunch of good ol' southern charm thrown in to boot.

Never left my keyboard.

CM picked up a used Android phone from her dsil to use as a 'tablet' for her youngest (who is 6.) But they are an Apple family so didn't know what to do. The middle child got an iPad from his grandmother for his birthday and the eldest will get one next month (his birthday is Halloween.) CM didn't want the 'baby' of the family left out. On the other hand, she knows nothing about Android so I brought it home, charged it up and customized it for the little guy. Put lego wall paper on it and some games. Put the grownup stuff he should be avoiding out of sight.

She sent back an email so full of love and thankfulness I ended up crying. Sent her back "Ditto" since there wasn't much else to say.

Good question, cowinkie. Nope - no tests. I had to take tests to get it originally. I also took national exams when we lived in NY state and I was working toward getting my NY state license for my job working with refugees. (We moved away from NY after 9 months, and I just didn't bother completing that process.) If I remember correctly, I probably could not get a job in any public school here in MI - unless I am deemed the best candidate for the job. My IL license can then be accepted here temporarily as I work toward getting my MI license. Having a valid license is the first step for me if I want to go that route. I am not actually looking to teach in a public school classroom, but having a license could be helpful in other jobs, just as it was in NY when I was working with adults, not kids. Ideally, I'd like to be at a community college or other English teaching institution. . .

Does your kitchen smell delightful now, Cowinkie?

Happy for Mr. Sunny passing his "test"!

Somehow I just knew Harmony was entertaining grandsons!

I got on my high-horse and posted more about pet food companies not being honest :x , but I posted in H and F this time to spare at least SOME of the boredom! :D

We went out for ice cream tonight. This was NOT in the plan! But it was delish and diverting!

Congrats on a big job to Ivy's dh.

HRH is saying, "Are you still up?" Oops.
