FIRST FRIDAY OF NOVEMBER

Hello Everyone! I enjoyed reading about everyone's Halloween activities, and seeing the pictures posted! I set up a card table in the driveway beside our front porch and two lawn chairs for us to sit in. That's way easier than trying to beat the two ddogs to the front door each time the doorbell rings! We had four bags of candy bars and one giant bag of tootsie roll mixture; still have half of the giant bag left. Near as I can figure we had about 130 T-or-T'ers stop by. We enjoy watching all the little ones in their costumes and figure it is some little way of giving to others. We also had a beautiful sunset to enjoy.

Dh's last P. T. session was today. The head therapist kept an eye on him as he worked through his exercises with the trainer and told him he was doing better than he had at first thought he would. He said that if dh feels he needs another session his primary care dr. will be glad to write it up for him.

After we left there we went on to the Scout Office, which we missed doing on Monday. We got dgs10 his Webelo belt and buckle and ribbons to pin his award pins on for his birthday. We will see them on Sunday for supper, cake and ice cream for his and dgd13's birthdays.

The temp is still 80* here and breezy. The rain that half the country has been getting this week is supposed to get here tomorrow, then it should cool down for a few days.

This afternoon I balanced the checkbook and did a few other odds 'n ends. Tomorrow I will get caught up on my weekly cleaning.

I need to catch up on a couple of the other threads here in the Village.

I have made the deviled eggs. I did an errand and got my p.m. insulin while that store was still open.

Earlier I got the patio cushions in to dry before storing them for winter.

It is time to flip the laundry.
I have all the holiday plates upstairs cleaned and put away.

Good Evening, Everybody! Haven't been meaning to be MIA today, but it was my day to be with my dfriend with memory problems. I walked home because her DH was on the phone, so I couldn't call DH to come get me. I whistled and sang myself home because it's 1/3 mile through the woods with coyotes, dogs that are scary, and sometimes a cougar's scat is spotted on parcels near to ours. I admit, I'm SCARED to walk to the mailbox and back, 1/2 mile round-trip thorough the woods, so singing and whistling made me braver. I kept remembering Pollyanna and how she said something in her movie about being braver if you just whistle. I walked 1/3 mile in 8 min. and DH said he heard me SINGING before I ever rang the doorbell so he knew I was coming! I also brought home 1 large and 1 mini phone books they'd delivered on the top of the driveway, which DH knew nothing about. I had a fun day!

I taught my friend to crochet SC again today. I let a big 1/2-Lb. spool of kitchen yarn with her and a spare hook. I don't know who is more delighted in her taking up crochet: Her or her DH! I told her about a kit to buy called "I Can't Believe I'm Crocheting!", too. She might get it. It was wonderful to see her open up, focus, have fun, and re-learn something that she'd done for many years, but gave up. It was such a nice day for me. I stayed 2 1/4 hours until my arthritic hips started paining me. But the barometer's changing because a big storm's coming in for tonight's arrival or tomorrow a.m. early. I guess that got the aches going.

I hope Everybody had a GR8 First Day of November. I got to listen to country music while I was there, which I never do, so it was a treat to listen to something different. What a delightful couple of people. Met them when they and we moved here in 1975. You just don't find people like that anymore, which you've known so long. I'm so happy I got to re-teach her SC. Oh! My dryer just dinged at me! I'm off to run because it's perma-press and needs hanging up. Take care, have a great dinner, and enjoy the extra hour's sleep this weekend, too! I am so THANKFUL for that!

Longest drive. It was 5 hours before I could get out of the car and I still wasn't there. I don't sit for that long, EVER.

Truck is unloaded and returned. We are debating supper now.

Dinner is done. We went out to the chicken coop (rotisserie chicken restaurant.)

Dd is picking her stuff up from her friend's house. We've set up our bed and I believe dh might actually be in bed. He's exhausted from the drive. His arms in particular are sore because it was a two-handed drive the whole time.

I've tidied up the kitchen and am making a cup of decaf tea for myself. I think I have hives on my belly (it is really itchy.) It was

I had a good time this afternoon with the babies (her friends with babies, whom I FB friends with, came over so I could meet them.)

The rental house is lovely. Not too old, lots of space and well laid out. The neighbourhood is really nice and people are very friendly.

Dd2 and I had came up with a plan for the game tonight. We were going to go after her dh got home and could watch the little girls. This was a big game and the 2 boys really wanted to go. When she called her dh, he told her that his brother/partner wanted to cut milo tonight. Really? So I told dd2 I would go out and watch the 2 girls, so she could take the boys. On the way out, I heard the game on the radio. Then I remembered that the game was the Friday Night Live game showing on at least 2/3 of the state on cable. My df who moved away, has a dgs playing on the opposing team and she had told me that it was going to be on and she would be able to watch it. Sure enough when I turned to that station at dd2's, there it was. This is the first time that team had played in our new stadium. Since it is just 50 miles away they have a lot fans come. The parking was crazy and there had never been that many cars there at a time. They had opened up a field and they were having someone direct the parking. Normally there is only one way in and one way out but they have a secondary road to use in an emergency and it had to be opened tonight. Dd2 and the boys left after the 3rd quarter. They were cold and wanted to beat the rush. They picked up something for the boys to eat and were home in time to see the ending. We won by 21 points and will be going to the playoffs.

This was one of those times that they need to be in town. I also babysat on Tuesday so that she could go to dgd17s choir concert. I wanted to go but we didn't want to take the girls and her dh was working late. It will be so much easier and cheaper for me to go maybe a mile to babysit, instead of out where she lives now.

Tomorrow dh will be shopping for tires for the SUV. He will be taking it to Nashville and we knew that the next time a trip was to be taken, we would need to get new tires.

I will be working on raking and mowing leaves tomorrow. One of the trees has really lost a lot leaves in the last 2 days. I had hoped that all the leaves would stay in the front. Today was windy so it blew them over the top of the house, onto the backyard. Last weekend I took dh's electric hedge trimmer and trimmed the 4 boxwoods that are on the outside of the fence by the alley. I am determined to keep them 3 feet or less from the ground and not let them get overgrown like they were before.

It is time for the time change. It stays dark so long that the early birds to the school are going in the dark.

Decided to wait on errands, fighting the cold left me feeling like some down time was needed after this week. I have about half of the laundry done.
H. Was not feeling the best and the down time for him was needed as well.

Hens are still getting out but not as often.
