Re: Thursday PWYC - Favorite Singers
Hi everyone! Easy question, though my answer will probably surprise you as I am most fond of metal:
Dennis de Young of Styx, song = Come Sail Away on the album The Grand Illusion, just incredible.
I made it to church for dinner and Bible study. There was not animal org meeting, it is NEXT week. When I got home, I found my trash and recycle bins had been taken in and put away by XDH. I immediately called him to thank him. I tried, but was unable to contact the pet sitter. I have sent her an email, but if I cannot get her soon, I will have to find someone else, time is getting short. I did not do much useful last night, I should have done stuff on the job search. I did do some crochet on my charity project, but it hurt my hands.
Today, I had Thanksgiving lunch at school with DD11. I thought XDH would be there, but he wasn't. DD said she thought it was because he did not want to see me, but then said he had a meeting. I need to mention to XDH that she is thinking along these lines. Even if it were true, I don't think he would tell DD and I doubt he wants her to think that.
TwinsMom: I am in Albuquerque, but that is at least 3.5 hours away.
Tonight, I have art class and then much cleanup and job searching to do. I am collecting my references now.

Dinner is done. Packing in 3/4 done, maybe more.
I'm suffering really bad sciatica at the moment. Didn't wear shoes when I got home because I thought dh was recording. He wasn't but I didn't switch out and now I'm in agony despite doing physio.

((((Kathryn))))
We made it through several of LO worksheets and finished his homework/reading. There are still worksheets to be done, but I'm done pushing LO to do them tonight
As LO and I were driving to MPB tonight, he was holding a piece of paper in his lap and out of the blue he said "Get off my P*nis!".
I thought I had misunderstood him, so I asked him what he said ...and he repeated it.
I asked who told you that word? He shrugged his shoulders and didn't know.
I asked "Do you know what a p*nis is?" He nodded and pointed to his groin. So we had a quick teaching moment about when it is proper to say that word and when he shouldn't be saying it. Along with a reminder that no one touches his and he doesn't mess with anyone elses! Argh! Then he asked if girls have one!! Five year old seems too early to be discussing different s*x body parts, but I answered his question as plainly as I could without adding any extra information.
Now I'm going to be holding my breathe tomorrow when LO meets some new friends (K&K) and wants to impress them. OH PLEASE do not try to impress them by telling the new word you learned today!

Re: Thursday PWYC - Favorite Singers
It's ok, Okay, I already know that word. Dh does too. Seriously, I've run a daycare, have a hyper, dyslexic son and teach Sunday School so get a steady diet of bathroom humour jokes, which apparently get no fresher as the generations progress. I've earned my grey hair!
Down to two items on my to-do list and then have to finish packing.
Am terrified of the flights tomorrow since sitting hurts too much for me to do right now. At least I still have super painkillers leftover from my hospital stay. Might just drug myself up for the flights.
I'm debating bringing my cane because I need support (and visible permission to move slowly) and dh won't always be with right there beside me. I'm also worried about carrying my bags (not my checked bag but my carry-ons which don't have wheels.) I'm thinking of swapping out for wheeled ones (I have one left plus one that hasn't sold yet) but I hate to tie myself down with them because they are heavier than my regular over the shoulder bag. But I didn't start using it until I stopped using the cane.
I finally remembered now to pick things up that are low. It has been years since my back has gone out like this and I have forgotten a lot of my workarounds. There isn't one for socks so dh will have to do those for me tonight and tomorrow.
I have a feeling our day on Saturday may have to change. We'll see what a night's rest and good pain killers does.

Re: Thursday PWYC - Favorite Singers
Cathy, good for you calling Mike when things weren't quite right. So glad he could come and spend time with you.
OKay, good for you, doing what Jimmy Cagney said: "look the other fellow in the eye and tell the truth." You did good. You were right, right, right. Now, be calm, calm, calm. There will be temptation to dwell on the tough day. Please schedule a time for that later, inform yourself of the schedule, and stick to it. For this evening, you have an appointment with a good night's sleep, so contemplate the pillow.
lucylee and Cathy, so cool that you can mention your own (I mean really your own) favorite singers!
Oh, dear, helia, perhaps you should have thought of that BEFORE you munched! Oops! Hope you get a good night's sleep too.
Spent hours and hours with dear Uncle, with the caregiver cleaning house, with the obituary, photo choice, and on phone with (not my favorite) funeral home director complaining that they had made it seem to my dear Uncle that he owed his entire bill today.
Made an unnecessary trip way out to the Hospice place to retrieve flowers that had already been retrieved by the sender. Sigh. I am a tired puppy. My only disappointment is that they paragraphed the obituary differently in the funeral home webpage than we had it written. My dear aunt was her church's first woman Elder and that was truly something significant in her life. We placed it to begin a paragraph about her church life, but they just put that paragraph right in behind the one about her work and didn't separate them. Sigh. I hope the newspaper obit doesn't come out like that because I will complain. As it is, I may call the funeral home and request a change on their page.
Noting that Twins' Mom can hardly face the gym, I can hardly face the Evening Dailies and am actually considering letting it go... ....

Re: Thursday PWYC - Favorite Singers
Hmmm… I was going to start out by saying “What a DAY…” but I think Okay wins the prize for that. Good gracious… from the poop-filled trailer and the man who wanted “to show his rear” as my ddad would have said, and then LO’s new word of the day… Oh my goodness. Plus counselor’s appointment? Yep, Okay, you get my prize for difficult day. (((BIG HUGS)))
Kathryn DID give me another LOL…
Oh -- and I enjoyed reading about ds's jump. I am one of those people who cannot IMAGINE jumping out of a perfectly good plane, of course. I don't even have any intention of getting ON a perfectly good plane. But it was fun to read ds's reaction.
My day was really not bad at all. Dgs slept till almost noon. Of course, he didn’t GO to sleep till almost midnight. He fits in around here just fine.
After I fed him, I jumped in the shower and then began the day’s errands…
* Called dmom, she didn’t need anything… yes, she did, could I go by doctor’s office and pick up rx for her…
* Post office, dgs in/out of carseat…
* Dr.’s office… dgs in/out of carseat… rx was not ready…
* Drug store drive through for drop off of MY rx’s…
* CVS… dgs in/out of carseat… took a long time in there but dgs was happy as could be, except when strangers (to him, not me) tried to talk to him…
* Drug store to pick up my rx’s…
* Home, unload all the above items, dg son in/out of carseat… change dgs diaper, fix a sippy cup
* Subway drive through for dmom’s sandwich
* Dmom’s… dg son in/out of carseat… stayed about 1 ½ hours… there is just no way to get away from there quickly… Long time at door saying goodbye (this is not new behavior, has ALWAYS been this way w/my family, all my family)... dgs burrows his little head into my shoulder when dmom attempts to hold him or get a "kiss kiss"… Just as I got to the car, dmom says, “Lucy, can you possibly go by and check on that rx again at the doctor’s office, b/c there is no way I can be there by 5:00. But I can be at the drug store by 6:00."
* Back to doctor’s office, dgs in/out of carseat… wait… wait… wait… don’t don’t put dgs down, b/c don’t want him to touch ANYTHING in doctor’s office…
find out dgs is fascinated w/watching water fountain and will LOL every time I press the button to make the water spurt up…
* Answer dh’s phone call, give ETA…
* Call ddil to come pick up dgs at doctor’s office…
* Call dmom, she is on her way, doctor’s office will let her in to get her rx when she gets there…
* Home, get dh, go to dmil’s…
* DH gets dmil’s van…
* We FINALLY get to go eat our supper!!!
* Home again, packed clothes for tomorrow/Saturday
* Oh yes, woo hoo for me – after showering this morning, I did the weekly Mr. Clean Swipe of dh’s shower
See. Pretty busy day.
Left me kinda nervous feeling… FIRST… talking to dmom about Tgiving… dmom would not mind having them all at her house, and said for me not to worry at all, she would be fine… and she could kinda understand dh thinking Tgiving was a big undertaking, I guess since it requires more of a sit-down meal. Dmom even suggested that it might be time for us to look into using church fellowship hall or something like that. (However, at dgparents’ house, there was only table space for about 12 of us, so I really don’t see what the big deal is for that matter. We have table space for 14, plus couch/etc for at least 10-12 more. But the whole thing is just beginning to make me real nervous anyway, and I’m thinking maybe I will suggest to dh that we do March Birthday celebration here. (Dmom’s birthday is in March, and this will be her first w/out ddad.) Cake and cokes would be much easier to manage than sit-down meal.)
SECOND thing… dmom said if she had another woman friend to go to Pigeon Forge with her, she would just go there for Tgiving. * sigh * Embarrassed… but I just do NOT want to take off for a girls’ trip, w/dmom or anyone. DH would DEFINITELY not want me to go that weekend… ds and ddil are usually not here for Tgiving, and they will be this year… plus, it is the biggest football weekend in the state and dh is counting on me going to that game with him… I think dmom understands. I hope that she will get back in the swing of things and find some ladies she can do things like this with. I hate to be a disappointment to her, but I just go into a panic thinking about it. If my dcousin ever recovers or at least goes into a stable remission with her cancer, daunt will probably be ready to jump in the car anytime dmom says go, though, so I keep hoping for that.
* Sigh * So. Feeling like a sorry excuse for a daughter.
Singers… I always liked Barry Manilow, too, Harmony…and dh is a BIG George Jones fan, Norma…I like a lot of the others y’all have mentioned. Everyone says Scotty McC IS such a genuinely good guy. That is always so nice to hear.
Sooo glad to see Dee and DH managed all the mishaps all right, with the tire and both not feeling well… Know you’ll be so glad to be safe and snug in your bed at dd’s house.
(((Harriet))) I believe you have definitely earned the option to LET IT GO (re: evening routine). I am so sorry about your daunt, and definitely have been thinking of you and your duncle. (((HUGS))) re: the obituary, too. Remember what a mess we created with ddad’s??? At least you have not caused any hurt feelings, except your own, I guess. But maybe it will be correct in the paper – I think sometimes the transferal to the electronic format changes things from the way they are originally laid out on the screen in our Word documents – if that is what happened w/yours. I would notice this sometimes when I sent something to be put on our school website. Maybe all will be right tomorrow.
Oh -- and Harriet -- what did they tell your ds about the donor process?
Kathryn DID give me another LOL…
Sooo sorry about your back pain, Kathryn. Hope you get some relief soon!It's ok, Okay, I already know that word. Dh does too.

Re: Thursday PWYC - Favorite Singers
Dryer, with my jeans, has just buzzed so I'm heading upstairs. Dh will carry the laundry for me.
I also had to let a minor to-do slide. I've packed a bit of paperwork with me. Not much, but enough that if I get it done, I'll feel not so desperate when I get home.
Filled in the immigration forms for tomorrow now, while I'm not juggling a ton of stuff.
Dh is going to do the garbage as well for me.
So I'm heading up with ice packs and will do a round of physio before bed.
See you all tomorrow once I'm settled at the gate at the airport.

Re: Thursday PWYC - Favorite Singers
(((Kathryn))), I hope you get back pain relief soon and that it doesn't last long, too. It can be miserable. Oh! And the flight. I'd take a cane, which signals to others, you perhaps may be in pain and they won't jostle you around.
(((Lucylee))), You sound like you can use some big cyber hugs today. What's a Pigeon Forge? The Thanksgiving talks sound stressful. I don't believe you're a sorry excuse for a daughter. You sound like a lovely daughter to have.
Dee and Mr. Dee, I'm so glad the tire was fixed, wish you were feeling much better, and when you land at DD's house, it'll be time to kick off those shoes, relax, and get healthy again.
(((Harriet))), I said a few prayers for you today, thinking of you, your daunt, family and your duncle, too.
Cathy, Our instincts tell us when to call and I'm glad you did, too.
(((OKay))), I'm sorry you had a tough day. I hope you'll be able to stick to your schedule, too.
Once, I had a dfriend who's 2 sons had just seen "E. T." where the kids said a naughty word, "P--nis breath!" My dfriend's dson was a toddler, she was at the produce part of the grocery store, when a nice, sweet little old lady came up to them, making over her adorable little son. He turned to the old woman and shouted, "Shut up, p---nis breath!" My dfriend's eyes got bug-eyed,
so she promptly exited the section, apologetically saying to the woman, "You know. Kids will be kids?"
Oh, I know how you must be feeling, too, but hopefully LO knows better. He sounds so smart, so I'm sure your conversation with him sunk in.
He sounds very bright to me and you're a great Dmom to him, too.
Helia, It's hard to keep from munching and then later figuring out why we did it. Hindsight.
Twins' Mom, It's hard to make time to face the gym, sometimes. Sometimes we need time for ourselves.... just once in awhile.
Nancy, You sound like you should or could be on the Food Network. Yummy!
Waving to Elizabeth.
A pen pal brought up a minister in her letter, so I went to YouTube and listened to his 29 min. sermon, while I did 20 min. of yoga in my office in front of the desk.
I liked his sermon, so I'll go back to listen to more, when I can.
Can't hurt.
I think I need it, as I've had a rough week of on and off illnesses. Today's fever was 99.4*, which isn't really "that" high, but O. J. and 1-hour's rest did me a world of good. I've been way too sensitive, whereas DH can't say a word or I get upset, cry or mad at him. But after listening to the sermon, I realized by my not feeling 100% on and off all week, it's made me blow things out of proportion and to believe things, which aren't true. Just misconstruing facts, being confused, and not myself. So listening to the sermon helped me realize how hard this week's been on me, on and off and the weather doesn't help either.
But I was a nice wife, stripped the sheets, washed, and dried them and re-made the bed without help because DH was watching a show he really wanted to see. I hated bugging him, so sometimes we do things for others in this house, not expecting anything in return. Like today, he brought me a cough drop when I was hacking my guts off. He didn't need to get up to go get one and I know this. ♥
Have a nice evening, Everyone.
