Don't know how dh's toe got infected. The doc says bacteria got in under the cuticle. He's on antibiotics for a week.

We walked over to the store and picked up the meds and then walked through the festival, listening to the performer.

I'm back working on the bedroom while watching tv.

No progress here. I had gone to get a glass of water while digging out a shelf to go in the closet. Got both to the bedroom and then ds called so I settled into an easy chair with my water and we had a chance. The only problem is I'm so tired now, I don't want to move from the chair to search out the bed and make it so we can sleep in it tonight.

I am enjoying sitting in an easy chair in my bedroom. Could not do that before. I'm also relieved that the room is big enough that we get to keep these chairs (there are two easy chairs in the room.) I really love them but they don't work with my living room furniture.

Ok, putting down the computer and getting back to work.

Cheering on Kathryn. Remember your breaks, and getting your bed made ready to fall into it is always a good plan.

Lilac - The best words the orthopeadic doc told me was that shoulders like mine don't like bullies. Once I eased off it started to respond better. Perhaps I'd been too vigorous with the PT broken shoulder/tendon exercises.
I totally agree with trying for as much range of movement possible, while not making it hurt - particularly the hurt that lingered long after the movement.
Getting into the pool was good as I could see how far I could let it float. Sometime there was a breakthrough to improved movement that flowed through to out of the pool.
My aims at first were very mild. To open the microwave. Operate light switches. Bathe my other arm. Just start where your shoulder is at now. Heat and cold packs. I forget when each was to be used. I think cold was after exercise, heat was for an ache.

Last xrays - My reading is that its not frozen, but the ball joint damage stops it moving past a certain point. All the pushing it with a stick in the world wasn't getting past that. That was the indication orthopeadic doc gave me way back then.

Other muscles have come into play and I can make a fair fist of raising my arm, though its not straight, and my shoulder is raised to do it. I'm calling it functional. Yes to tucking in singlets, and doing up my bra, as well as hanging out washing.
Broken shoulder arm is about an inch shorter, so I use a folded pad to even myself up at yoga. I do better if I have a block under each hand as well.
I used the - use it as much as I can, water, tai chi and yoga model of therapy. Getting it to help in the shower and washing dishes were my first things it attempted. I Imagined I could do it too after reading of brain plasticity..

Unfortunately the PT for my neck and upper back is worn off now.

I've run out of steam since my work done last week. Didn't manage to get to the markets today. Or to the computer store for security renewal. This dinosaur refuses to have a credit card, or do money things on line.

Ivy, I've been saying that exact thing to my dh lately -- slow down. (Actually, when I say it , it's slow DOWN! ). He's been doing some work around the house & all his tools are in the basement. If he needs a tool he didn't bring up, he races to the basement door & runs down the stairs. I call him a man on a mission when he gets in that mode.

Dee, I'm glad your Dr appt went well, & that mammo results were good, too.

Hope you have a fun & relaxing vacation in Hawaii, Helia! If I close my eyes I can imagine the feel of the warm sun, a little breeze, lots of sand underfoot & waves rolling around my ankles. May as well imagine a Pina Colada in one hand, too! .

Harriet, how nice that your DD delivery was so quick, & that younger dd could make the trip with you.

Thunderstorms rolled through here when I was about 20 minutes into a half hour nap. Loud boom woke me up & ddog was pressed up against the side of the bed. I lay on the floor with her for a while so she could cuddle close to me & feel safe & comforted. Dcat just hides under furniture -- doesn't trust us at all to keep him safe .

Lynlee, I can't believe that I forgot about you, with all the trouble you have had. Thank you for all the info. I told my dh that when anyone on the board mentions shoulder problems, that I just cringe, thinking of what they go thru. I also cringed when Nancy was diagnosed with diabetes and her adjustments to it. I am thinking it was 6 months later, when I was diagnosed. Guess I better quit cringing, huh?

I had 3 bs lows starting late yesterday morning thru early this am. I felt like I had reduced my insulin enough, knowing the work I was planning. It was higher than normal when I went to bed so I don't know what the problem was. Today it has ran higher since I was more sedentary and not up to par. After a low during the night, I have a terrible time going to bed. I tend to make sure that it's higher than it should be to cover me. My dh never gets up to go to the bathroom during the night but he did early this am and that is what woke me up. If he hadn't, I may not have woke up. That is a scary thought and puts an irrational fear into me.

Well I better go to bed.

So sorry I missed wishing Elizabeth a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! (Hope Saturday is happy for you, too, Elizabeth!)

We are so glad to have no one under our roof tonight except the two of us. Dcousin left this morning around 9:30... dgs awoke around 10:00... and it has been a pretty full day ever since.

Lots of ta-da's though...
By the time I got up from my after-dgs-breakfast nap, -- dh had already put sheets from the guest bedroom in the washer.
I put them in the dryer, and after I finally s2s, I was able to
* help dh hang memorial plaque (Thomas Kincaid type picture w/Amazing Grace lyrics on it)
* return phone call to dfriend in Florida
* run errands w/dh & dgs
-- cleaners
-- grocery store
-- dmil's house, where we
* cleaned out the refrigerator
* took out the trash
* gathered up caregiver supplies for dfriend/former caregiver for dfil -- so she can use them at her current job
* returned dishes to two ladies who brought food
* return dgs to his dmom
Then we *ate supper,
*I got my clothes together for upcoming trip,
*took another nap,
*dh packed car (everything except toiletries/cosmetics bag)
and we went to see 22 Jump Street -- which was pretty good. We needed a laugh.

Harriet -- I loved hearing about the new baby... sooo sweet... and they grow up sooo quickly, don't they. Pity we CAN'T bottle the "newborn-ness."
Thanks for your words re: the recessional's importance, too. I haven't mentioned it to dh, and I won't again unless he brings it up, but I agree with you, and I thought it was very fitting -- ds was singing "Shalll We Gather at the River?" -- and I thought, yes, we are departing now, and she has departed, but we WILL gather together again... and I thought it was very appropriate... but still, ds was a bit hurt at being unable to walk out with the family, I think, and that bothers me more than thinking he was cheated out of his song... which I think is what is nagging at dh's mind.
ANYWAY... it will be fine.
