Harmony ~ As far as I can see, all of the styles have a symbol on the Board Index page and other Forum section pages to show which individual threads you have not opened. It's just that with some of them, they don't have an explanation at the bottom that tells which symbol means what.

I am currently trying the Hestia Purple one, which uses a bright orange check to say when there are new posts in a thread since I last read it.

Done again - I am finally feeling like things not so out of control here.

Good afternoon! Waving to Elizabeth, Sunny, Nancy, and lucylee, who turned up after I'd left for the evening. Also greetings to Ivy/FelineFriend (I hope that gets straightened out!) -- I believe we have "met" before, during the last time I showed up here briefly. And a "pleased to meet ya" to ejagno!

I had a busy morning, though not in the way I thought. I ended up oversleeping b/c I've gotten into the habit of my meds reminder alarm on my phone waking me, and my phone seemed to have been turned to mute. I don't remember doing it... could it possibly be that dd muted last night it so that it would take me longer to notice that she had absconded with it to play games?

Once I did wake up, I checked e-mail to find that my dfriend wanted to talk -- after much agonizing (and I know, because I've been listening to plenty of the agonizing), she's decided to leave our parish. This decision is a bit complicated in that she's on the parish council, so she wanted a sounding board as to what to say to whom. So I grabbed my belated breakfast & went over to her house -- I thought it was a conversation that needed to be face-to-face (and involve hugs ). I share many of her frustrations, but I'm not yet at the point where I'm looking at other parishes. (I started to write about the frustrations, but it was an entirely skippable rant, so let's just skip it, at least for now.)

Got home and had a conversation with the police officer who'd stopped by: They'd found the young men who'd attempted to steal dd's bike last week -- did we want to press charges? Unfortunately, we had not actually seen them -- we were inside having dinner (with the window a/c on, so we didn't really hear anything, either). Our neighbor across the street saw them, stopped them, called the police, and then rang our doorbell & let us know what had happened. Another neighbor got a picture of the kids with her cellphone when they came back to get one of their own bikes (or, who knows, maybe another bike they'd stolen) that they'd stashed in our hedge. But not having seen them ourselves, we weren't really comfortable pressing charges. The officer wanted to know, too, if we knew of anyone else who'd had a bike stolen, because one of the young men was riding a pink bike -- not the usual choice for a teenage boy. At the street meeting on Saturday, someone had mentioned having a bike taken, but I can't remember whom.

And then I helped DH, who was cutting a couple of dead branches from the oak tree.

Came in and started wrestling with my own feelings about the church situation (OK, here's that rant) -- among other things, our pastor feels we should be doing more outreach, which is completely valid given that we're in a relatively affluent section of our burb, which is becoming poorer as those with means move further out. But he's single-minded about outreach to the extent that it's hurting the parish. The other day, I joked to a friend that he should join the Episcopalians; they'd be happy to have him, and then he might feel comfortable ministering to Catholics. I came up with this metaphor: Say there's a mom who's really dedicated to helping the hungry. Every day, you can find her at the hunger center, or the food bank, or a soup kitchen. In fact, if you go to her own house during the dinner hour, you won't find her there, because she's out helping others. She's not worried about her own kids -- she knows her own pantry is full. But she's left them to fend for themselves, and their own cooking skills are limited, so some days, they might be having potato chips and milk for dinner. I could try presenting him with that metaphor, but it wouldn't likely make much difference; he's had people telling him that the parish has needs that aren't being met, but he only wants to listen to yes-men.

And I've had lunch and written here.

That he is, Harriet! We had our anniversary a couple of weeks ago, and I went digging through our wedding pix to find one to post for Throwback Thursday on FB and found that one -- we were so young and in love and happy! Now we're not so young, but "in love" and "happy" still apply! I ended up putting it as the lock screen on my phone, too -- it makes me smile to look at it.

Yikes! Lots of folks have posted since I started writing this, but I need to take dd to her psychologist appt. now! BBL, I hope!

I book marked this site. I still found my self wondering around a bit trying to get to this thread after getting to this new site, it is just a bit different so even with my sub silver2 style must be the settings on it I tweaked. It is a learning curve for me and others too.

Hens are out, think I may have to sell 6 of 'em to cut down a bit of over grazing.

Just to clarify. DH and I aren't travelling this summer, so we are in our house in AZ. When DH got sick he was at our local community hospital.

Time to go out for groceries. Temperature is 109.

I re-made the bed, tidied our dining room table, taking off my 2 files, etc.. and tidied the great room end tables. I loaded and ran the DW, tidied my little corner of the kitchen, found a place & way to display my SHE-index card folder routines, in my corner of the kitchen, which makes me a happy camper. I put my tea cup and teas away, tidied the guest/Bunny Room, my office, washed toilets, dumped trash from the entire household and tidied up my small office. Currently, I'm writing a Costco list for DH because our grson-15.5 comes July 5 - July 12. When he's dropped off, the 4 older grsons (Dson/Ddil's) will be here,so if we get Costco cookies, they can snack. They'll be on a several hour trip from Oregon's Coast, up home. The oldest grson-17 will drop gson-15.5 off. They can stretch their legs, too. Also, my 1 prescription wasn't ready, it is for digestion problems, I need it, they said it'll be ready after 3 p.m., so today, DH will go to another store first, I'm writing that list, and then he'll run over to the pharmacy to get my pills.

The mail's not come yet. It's 84* here now, is to be 92* before the day's over and DH is checking the mail again, since it wasn't here earlier. I'm tired from working today, on the house, so will take a cat nap after sorting and reading mail.

My kitty cat was playing with 1 vertical blind, I said something to her about it, so she licked her paw and leg a couple of times, then played with the blind again. This happened about 4 times, since they're pulled over 1/2-way to keep sun from shining in on my glass-contained candle on my end table. It was comical how she's lick herself, proving to me she was being good, but then would be playing with the blind again, meaning she's not "that" good. She's just too funny and gets her treats when the mail comes. So I best be going to get those in the bowl and sort the mail.
