Hi everyone! I have gone to art class and lunch, also an errand. I finally made the phone call to get more babycats. This means I will have to rehang the doors in the sewing room (closet and regular doors), but I need to do that anyway. I am afraid that as soon as I do the roof/ceiling leak will return. I had an unexpected chore: washing a kitten. YUCK!!! I won't go into details, but I also had to do an extreme catbox clean. Babycats certainly can growl when confronted with water! She is in my lap now, so I must be forgiven.

While online, I must find out if the knit/crochet group is meeting tomorrow. The restaurant we meet at could be closed, and people could be skipping. However, we may meet because they certainly do not have fireworks at 9 am. I will also find out if a place I can buy a dryer is open (and hopefully having sales!). If they are, then I can get a dryer tomorrow. (The dryer is a gift from my mom. No way I would be purchasing one otherwise right now. She insists on a new rather than a used one, too. Not that I have a problem with that. There is a price limit, but I think I can find something for $500!)

Then, it is the usual job hunt activities. I may check in later.

CUOPing & LOL! Okay, gals.......What cha talking about old people can't raise babies & youngsters??? HUm.....really? Are you sure? Kause that would just confuse those who are currently doing it! And I'm confused e'nuf on my own!

Another day of having a plan along with the time and energy to work it. I have been following plan since 5am and haven't wanted to stop because it is like a dream when a plan comes together and is working! YKWIM?

While LO is napping I have been working on huge backlog of medical papers. All 78 medical charges from January through April have been processed. If anyone is curious how much it takes to get a new set of ear tubes put into a 5 year old..... the answer is $15,052. Crazy, huh? Thankfully we have good insurance that paid about 90% of it.

Next up -
** Prep/serve dinner (brisket, green salad, mash potatoes with sliced peaches for dessert)
** take LO to spray park to have playtime with friends
** grocery store to buy milk and batteries that can't wait til we go to big town.

Back from the library, another 3 hours of volunteer time. Still a lot of work to do. I borrowed a key so I can go in Saturday and/or Sunday when they are closed. I figure if we get more thunderstorms and I can't do any work on my computer, I might as well be there accomplishing something, and I'll already be in their basement storm shelter.

RamblinRose ~ I had heard of salting for preserving meat, but had never heard of that method for pickling/canning vegetables. Literally all he did was alternate layers of salt with the sliced runner beans. No added liquid or spices. He said the salt draws the moisture out of the beans and automatically makes a brine that preserves them. Then when you want to eat them, you just rinse & soak them awhile to wash away most of the salt, and cook like any other canned vegetable.

Dove ~ We have LEGO Club scheduled for every Wednesday the rest of this month. We will take August off, and then starting in September we'll be back to the original schedule of meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of each month after school. This is the 1st year we've tried this type of activity, so we're still making it up as we go along.

FelineFriend ~ I'm glad your DH's cut stopped bleeding. Head wounds always make a big mess and look scary!

Hmm ... seems like I wanted to answer a question from Helia but can't think of it right now ... oh yes, it was about styles. Yes, when you first come to the board, if you are not logged in, then the default is the prosilver. The style you choose is tied to your username/password so if you automatically logout when you leave the window, you'll see the default prosilver style until you login again.

DH isn't home from work yet, but I will start cooking supper. Might as well toss a load of clothes into the washer as well.

Oh, thank you Booksaver. Yes, I had asked that question. I wasn't sure if that was just true for me and so an issue with my computer - or not. I'm glad to hear it's not.

I'm finding your discussions re: older people raising kids interesting. I guess it depends on what your definition of "old" is. I have several friends who had their babies in early 40s - not just their last babies but their first. My bff from elementary - high school had her first baby at age 40.5, baby #2 at age 42. Maybe that's still not "old" though. LOL!! Dfil had his last children at age 52? - dh's younger twin sisters. That's why he's turning 90 this summer and has grandkids as young as 3 - and another new gbaby on the way. OK, from the photos I've seen, you sure don't LOOK very old. And you seem very active too. . . . I don't know how old you actually are. Are you sure you fit the category of "old people?"

OK, we're eating now. I made our family tomato sauce with ds, who has been asking for the recipe. Dh is finishing with him - and we're now getting ready to eat. On the patio. 5 of us.

Booksaver, Yes, DH's bleeding head wound was scarey to me. Especially when he never mentioned a piece of wood flew back and hit him in the head!

I cleaned the kitchen counters and dusted the great room area, eating bar shelves, and have been listening to soft easy listening music on the cable TV. ♥ DH dust mopped and vacuumed, and is currently playing his XBOX 360 game in our bedroom. I believe our cat's asleep on my side of the bed, while he plays. She loves company. Our little shadow. Do I talk more about my cat than my own grandchildren?

I am happy with the cards I received from the Current Co. and the butterfly list pads, too. I wrote out tomorrow's list. I'd like to get some reading done, clean my office, get it organized, so I can find stuff. I've "acquired a stack of notebooks, mailers, clipboard, and tablet on a small organizer with a handle. I'll try to do that today because I want to relax while DD and when dgs's here, get in some walking, reading, and crochet done and write letters, too. I think we'll enjoy him a lot. DH will take him out to eat with an Applebee's gift card he got for Father's Day, because I can't have fried, rich, spicy foods. It'll give DH and Dgs-15.5 quality time together, too. ♥ ♥ DH will be gone for a few hours on the 10th, leaving me home alone with dgs, while DH goes to his monthly retiree's luncheon. Sometimes, a LOT of people come and some are into their 80's now, or late 80's. It's great they can all chat, laugh and shoot the breeze, plus eat.

LOL, LadyM! I was thinking about you, and all you do with LO, (except I think you're several years younger than me! I'll be 53 next month) and you STILL manage everything at home PLUS the business... and my head is just spinning... and I'm thinking, "What is WRONG with ME??? I must just be a lazy bum!!! "
I even started to go back and read your posts from when LO was 2, to see how you did it... but then I got sidetracked again...

Today however, I cannot use dgs as my excuse. They have been gone for HOURS and I have done nothing since they left except watch that horrible court hearing, and talk to dmom on the phone. Oh -- and I did s2s and do my Bible reading.
I am REALLY feeling miserable w/allergy trouble. Runny nose, sore throat, sinus drainage, itchy ears/throat, and generally feeling sorta feverish, too -- chilled, achy, and I have a headache.
So -- even though I had a nice day to get a LOT accomplished here, w/dh out playing golf... I've done nothing.

Talked to dmom on the phone for about an hour and a half, all put together. Good gracious. I know she told me at least two lengthy stores twice each... smh...

Ooohhh... Mr. FelineFriend has a head wound?! Ooohhh... hope he's not having too bad a headache!

FelineFriend, re: my family -- no, they do NOT have a history of playing games or anything like that... but they ARE, as dmom said, probably still reeling from the death of dcousin -- this is her sister who generally hosts the 4th of July gathering -- and dmom said either go or don't go, either way is fine. I don't want THEM to think we are just ignoring them... but good gracious, I've TRIED. This crazy new phone system they've got means that they apparently answer NO calls -- They no longer have caller ID, everything goes straight to voice mail if they do not pick up immediately -- so then they apparently listen to message whenever it is convenient and call back as they feel necessary or as they think of it...
I guess the best thing for me to do is continue to try to keep up contact with them every few weeks or so, and hope things return to "normal" soon.
I may go by and visit with them for just a little while tomorrow, on my own, and when (if?) they ask why dh didn't come with me, I can say, well, we weren't sure y'all were even doing this, or if you wanted a lot of folks this year... etc... (and then I certainly don't mind telling them, "I was actually getting paranoid b/c NO ONE RETURNS MY PHONE CALLS ANYMORE!" (I wouldn't say it angry like that, though. I promise.)
Also don't mind NOT making cookies that they all act like they want me to make at every gathering... If they can't remember to tell me in time to make cookies... * sheesh *

DH is home and I think we will take our allergy-miserable selves out to eat and to see a movie.

Helia - LOL! Thanks for the kind words. I looked up the definition of old age. but it gave no absolute number. I am turning 59 this year. DH is preparing to file for social security. I'm sure many would consider our age as "old" and we are definitely the *old* ones at parent meetings. When I think about old age, I tend to think of those older than I am and how they act. My Grandpa worked until he was 92, then his children made him stop because they were afraid he would get hurt. We have lifelong friend we have been visiting with frequently this past month. She raised multiple children over a long span of years (similar to what we are doing). She is currently 84 years old and is laughing at herself being lazy this summer because she is only working 2 days outside her home during the summer. Typically she works 3 jobs during the school year. She usually arrives at work at 4am and finishes up mid afternoon. Then she goes home and takes care of her home. She doesn't do it for the money but because she loves what she is doing. What a awesome example she sets. She is a joyous person that is fun to be around. OOPS....didn't mean to turn this into a book.

A couple people asked about my avatar. I can't remember where I got it. I just remember googling "free avatar" and putting in a size and lots and lots of things come up and I downloaded a few. That's where I got my previous lady and my coffee cup and I got Mona Lisa and American Gothic couple and a few other cute ones. Not all of them turned out to be small enough, but some are ok.

After I got back from dr. appointment I took a long nap. I really haven't done anything since this morning. I'm going to try getting something done tomorrow for sure.

Sorry your Holiday doesn't seem to be working out, Lucylee. Maybe this will be what wakes them up about answering messages.

We have no plans for the 4th. DH usually likes to go watch the fireworks but the crowds of cars on the roads really frightens me and just seems so unsafe the way everybody tries to leave at once and drive like maniacs. Sigh...I suppose he'll want to go.

We may do that exact same maniac parking on the highway to watch fireworks, too, Harmony! Dh does kinda like to do that. I enjoy watching fireworks, probably more than he does... BUT... I do NOT enjoy the highway parking where we have to do it, in order to avoid the traffic where they actually intend for people to watch. Glad dgs will not be with us if we get involved in that mess, anyway.
OTOH... I need to check out PBS and set dvr... I think Frankie Valli is on the Capitol Fourth tv program. Ever since we saw Jersey Boys, I've been singing Frankie Valli & Four Seasons songs... LOL... sang just about the whole discography for ds and he said, "Nope... never heard any of those. I can't believe it." * sigh * Maybe my falsetto is lacking a bit, you think?
