Lucylee: a single storm won't put me off but day after day of rain or threat of rain will get me in the dumps. So I sympathize with your mom.
Dinner is done. The service isn't. Oh and laundry.
TTFN!

Interesting temps here -no 90's in July or August -but September....oh yeah. about 93 today.
C heerios for dinner actually tasted very good to me -included some diced peaches. Now think I'll go in search of dh.
Oh dear! DDIL#2 just texted me a couple of pictures of dgs2 and older dgs14. Both are in race suits with the tops tied at their waists. Oh no! DGS2 is getting ready ALREADY?!>!>! Help me. I can see go carts in this boy's very near future. DGS14 is already in a Sportsman Modified -to get a picture: DS-R didn't get in one until he was 22! And dgs has already had a win, setting a record for the youngest winner in that class. And there's no way I can go watch. (I can't even stand to listen). Actually I don't think dgs2 can compete until he's 4 but all too soon for me.
This has been a week for our city/county. An officer (with way too many close ties) was shot and killed Wed. night and then today a very influential couple went down in a plane crash off Jamaica. They were followed for a long ways by fighter jets as there was no response from them. Looks like depression in the cabin & the plane flew till it crashed on its own. Took off from here this morning.

Hi everyone and congratulations to the FelineFriends and helia's DD. It's been a crazy day for me. I took my entries to the state fair, but the line was too long for me to get to the geek girls lunch, so I left. One more thing I must do tomorrow. Did my cathouse volunteering and came home in preparation for a 4:00 phone interview. Did my 'Entry Hall (Inside)' crisis cleaning slip, completed it and threw it in the trash, also some other clean up tasks while I waited. I called the relevant person who was having computer grief, so we rescheduled for Monday afternoon. Got my exercise in by walking to the auto repair place, where I retrieved my car and left a good chunk of my money. After that, I took the borrowed car to an auto parts store and purchased and installed new windshield wiper blades. I wrapped up the empty boxes and will give them to my friend as a thank you gift. Two DPCs accomplished. During one, I learned of two more cats in need (one kitten, one cat). I suspect they will eventually end up at my house.
Next up: check email, renew book online, finish balancing checkbook, job search stuff, and sewing, lots and lots of sewing!

Grateful for ddh who just helped me make the bed up clean. It seemed extremely difficult tonight for some reason. I really had a hard time getting the bottom sheet on my side for whatever reason????

But now it's done and we can hit the hay. I will try to remake the bed just before I leave in October (well, yes, I will launder sheets BEFORE then) just so he doesn't have to do it between the time I leave and he closes up. But he will have to do it in the spring after he gets here. Trying to get everything ready for him so he can close up the RV well before it's time to turn off the water. Will mean him having to travel about 30 miles each day, but I think better than staying here alone and trying to close up on his own.

THANK YOU FOR THE HAPPY ANNIVERSARY GREETINGS!
DH ran to get the car washer. It looks a lot better. He'd gotten dust from dry weather on the car, then it rained.
It was dirty.
We spent a nice day together, decided to go out after all, so I got make-up and jewelry on, changed my clothes, and we went to a cafe. I ate 1 large bowl of clam chowder AND a Cobb Shrimp Salad.
It's the first time I've eaten out since May or before because of the Gastritis Diet.
I even stuck to my diet while Dgs's visited this summer and ate "their food" with DH.
I keep burping tomatoes and lettuce though.
I took meds for it. Anyway, it was delicious, I didn't eat all of it, and it was filling. DH had mashed potatoes, gravy and fried oysters and cup of a soup.
One thing, which is puzzling, while we were there is so strange.
They had a bells strung on a cord on the metal handle to the door, inside. Of course, the bells would ring when people came in or went out. But..... I SAT there, facing the door and those string of bells RANG and WIGGLED when there was NO person walking by, nor in or out. The door is a heavier glass/metal door, too. I kept thinking about Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed in "It's a Wonderful Life," (did I get the right title?) and when the bells rang on the Christmas tree, the little girl says, "Teacher says when a bell rings an angel got their wings." So does this mean 3 angels got their wings, while we were eating there?
I actually saw those bells move on the cord, without any person around, 3 times, and I did NOT drink alcohol. I honestly saw them. I can't figure it out. Maybe there's some sort of vibration from people in the kitchen working so hard?
No traffic was driving by at these times EITHER.
I don't "get" it.
I'm totally puzzled about it. So I sat there eating, while angels earned their wings.
It's nice to get home. I'm so full. I've been printing items for my Holiday Notebook.

Happy Anniversary FF and Dh!
Congratulations to Helia's dd16 for passing your driver license test!
Yesterday was desk day for me. I'm all set up for the rest of the month and paid bills due the coming week. Today was errand day. We needed to go to the tax office to renew car registration for one of the cars. Next month will be the other one. They've actually reduced the amount from what they charged last year...don't remember the exact amount, but I think it's around $10 less! I'll take it!! We got a new plate also; dh put it on when we got home. The next stop was at pharmacy for test strips for dh. It rained the whole time we were out, started just after we left home and it was like a cloud burst at times. We decided to come right home instead of stopping anywhere else.
Good thing we did come home sooner because ds#2 stopped on his way home. He was going to trim lawn, but it really doesn't need it yet.
Safe travels for RRose & Sweetie! Gosh, what a job you had with that pup. Thank goodness you were there for the rescue!
Have a good visit with your dd and her dh, Norma! IKWYM about not being able to be with her.
Dee, I heard on the news about the officer, but not yet about the plane crash. So sad for both families!
Elizabeth, good luck with your interview on Monday!

Hello, villagers ~
I was making a lot of progress around the house this morning and even had a lovely phone conversation with one of the sewing group members about one of our charity projects. Then just before lunch everything came to a screeching halt so I could handle a really nasty Email from someone else in the group. It took some time to figure out just what in the world she was yelling at me about, and then attempt to write out a civil reply.
(She was mad that the Email I sent to the Board with the group's monthly financial reports included some questions about invoices that need to be paid this month -- different Board members have taken care of different things and no one has told me the amounts that are due. She was especially upset that I asked her whether or not she has agreed to pay a fee to the program speaker at our meeting on the 13th -- next weekend. I reminded her, in as inoffensive words as I could find, that as the elected Treasurer I am supposed to make sure we have enough money transferred from savings into checking to cover the bills, and the transfer needs to happen before I write the checks at Tuesday's Board meeting.)
I wish I could say that was all, but that is the short version.
The whole reason for mentioning it on this forum is that it was something that interrupted and affected the whole rest of my day. It's just another urgent situation like we all have crop up and interfere with whatever other projects we had planned/hoped to accomplish. I have not been able to come up with any useful solution other than to deal with the situation immediately as kindly and professionally as possible, and then try to pick up the original plan for the day.
Interruptions that throw everything out of whack and cannot be ignored or postponed -- how do you deal with them?
Off to cuop, bbl.

Another loud and bright storm is blowing through. Dh and I watched it for a bit on the balcony.
I've finished the service and printed it and copies of the hymn off. It is like a Lessons & Carols service except not Christmas (of course.) I wasn't in the mood to write but the psalm is 149 and starts off admonishing to sing and make melody so I decided to go with that and picked hymns that reflected the Epistle and Gospel reading as well. To end, we'll sing Jesus Loves Me, the Senior version. So I printed off 15 copies. I have two that can't see to read and seldom get more than 15 anyway. There are only 21 chairs in total. If we get more, I'll get extra copies printed off by the receptionist. In total, we are singing 5 hymns and 2 anthems for the our supposedly 30 minute service.
Glad I'm finished now and not tomorrow. More time to read over my notes and perhaps go almost note free this week. I need to work on doing that more and more.

Congratulations to Helia's DD16! This is a huge step in making life easier for the whole family.
Ramblinrose ~ WTG for being there to help that poor puppy. Awful to think what would have happened if you hadn't known what to do.

That's a gift of kindness and empathy, Ramblin'.

BookSaver, I will give you an additional thought for your query. Is it wise, then, to avoid even inviting the rest of the world into our homes until we have reached some level of completion for our responsibility to home? Wise to wait on techni-contact (email, for instance, or even returning phone calls) until we have done, say, the dailies, or maybe the whole PODA, or whatever we decide our own needs require?
How would that have worked for you today, though... ... would things have been made even worse by delay, and are you glad you found out about the anger fast? Is it too chancy to neglect checking email, listening to phone messages, even reading the headlines to stay current, etc.
This reminds me of Peggy's quote that is about just morning, "Ten o'clock is the crossroads of order for the day". That's a smart admonition not to let the first part of the day get away from us in routine, chores, consistency. But do we dare block knowledge of the rest of the world that long?
Just interesting.
