Somebody please teach me to say NO. This sewing project is so awful. Almost undoable. I know that's not a good word, but nothing else fits it. It took me hours to get the one layer pinned neatly and to all the edges into the top layer. Both have padding on them and the combined pair is heavy, really too heavy for this state. I've sewed all around the perimeter - not an easy task. Now I have to do something with the middle parts and I don't know what to do without it bunching. I don't dare sew too many lines on it because it'll bunch.

Had to stop and help DH load up a truck full of very heavy windows. Now my back hurts from that and from straining so much with this heavy thing I'm working on. Oh, my, I wish it was done.

Blessed, how did your DD hurt her foot? Hope it heals quickly.

I did a tiny bit of tidying. And refilled the vitamin dispenser.

I have time to water plants and maybe wind the clocks and then we are outta here!

This morning dh told me that they hadn't made the announcement of his replacement last week like he had been told. Instead they were making it today at a meeting. Dh just sent me an email. They have promoted that guy effective today. It says that dh has accepted the position of manager of special projects, until retirement. I am wondering what that will do to his salary for the next 3 months. I am anxious to hear dh's reaction to this. He is probably thrilled because he really hated to go back to work after having 6 straight days off. I am wondering if he won't just retire and be done with it. It is a good thing that today I was figuring our retirement income and realize that we will be fine unless we lose a bunch in the stock market.

So happy that Elizabeth is feeling a triumph today and hoping it turns out to be something very good, not just an improvement on the status quo!

I bought two bags of dog food and have decided to keep a bag on hand - and put another bag on the li&t when we start the last bag. I need to eliminate trips to p/u dog food. Also went in Tar-jay, which is practically next door for a walk around. I got a milk and a few things we needed - shampoo, lotion to keep in my car and ginko biloba.

Going to try to find the info from last year - I think it was emailed to me monthly and try to do a worksheet of what revenue was last year, and highlight the kids who have dropped out. If we're only down 10 kids, that would indicate a difference of only $2,800, but we're down over $4K in tuition.

I am about to have a full blown meltdown panic attack. I have decided that I am not going to mention that I have read that email and see how long it takes him to tell me about it. I wish he would not have sent it. I would rather hear the details from him.

d harmony .. I learned from a sewing project to say no. I sewed with girls and basically on my own 12 kimono's as well as making a ton of costumes, myself, for a Christmas play.... I understand. It's okay to say no or that a project is too much. They will find a way.

What a relief. Dh will work until the end of the year with no salary deduction. Basically his special project is to train the guy who is taking the position. This guy did not want it, but they forced it on him.
Dh said that he would have hated to have any position forced on him. Dh might have to check on the out of town plants that were originally this guys problem. Now that the guy is doing both jobs, he won't have time to do it all. Dh doesn't know how the guy will manage when he leaves but feels like it is not his problem. Dh is so excited that he won't have to attend any more out of town manager meetings at company headquarters. So it is all good.

Dh said that the reason they won't lower his salary is because of his 32 + years of loyalty. Every employee that started at the control room operators position and above, 32+ years ago are long gone. The last one retired in Jan. 2006, so dhs loyalty is being rewarded. The vast majority of the employees that started when dh did, left the company instead of retiring from it.

I tell you this has been an eye opener that he really is retiring. I guess I am having a hard time believing that he is old enough to retire. Guess I better get over that.

Lilac: I hope your dh really does retire at the end of the year. There are times dh's semi-retirement drive me nuts. Like tonight. He came out to the house with me and then the guy to pick up the tower was later than expected and the wife of the couple who bought the house dropped over to measure some more. So we left at 6:45 and dh had an 8 p.m. conference call. First we had to gas up the car, then pick up his chinese food 10 minutes away, then drive the 30 minutes home. I dropped him at the front door and then parked the car since I knew that'd be quickest.

Now, it turns out no-one is on the call so all that rushing was for nothing.

Brought another 2/3 full car load back. Half will go to the thrift store, the other half to ds's.

The wife was pleased with how empty the house is becoming. She told me her plans to convert it to two units. Dh and I don't think they'll get a permit since the new septic system is sized for 3 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms and 1 kitchen. They plan to add another bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. The goal is to eventually have her parents move in with them.

Dd just found out she's a real aunt! (Dsil's brother had a baby girl.)
