I read your article about common core. I did not know your state was embroiled in so much stuff.

We have a teacher in our small group. We hear all kinds of things from her. Recently a community in another county tried to do away with taking the fcat tests. We all know there is little teaching going on except for taking those tests. My teacher friend said this all has to do with the cc; we thought doing away with the tests would be a good thing but they are replaced by an even worse system and testing. She says the constant evaluating she must do takes all her time and there is little to no teaching done now. She is stuck with staying because she needs some more years to be able to get her whole pension.

I read that cc is the stepping stone to the system where all kids are tested and put in a path to an academic education or to a lesser type education. I sincerely hope that is not true and what I read was just political junk. I'm very concerned for our children and our next generation.

When I visited my lady friend at nursing home, she was all concerned about the Ebola crisis and worried it would get into the nursing home... and now that her cousin has passed away she has no family left around, just a couple distant relatives way up in Montana. She does not know why she is still around, can't walk or even stand, etc. Her cousin did all her chores, bought her things not available at her home, took care of her taxes, was on her checking account. She does not know even who did her taxes. He knew his health was bad but did not take steps to educate her how to continue on without him. I feel so bad for her, her outlook is so poor.

I got food at big warehouse store to take to funeral luncheon tomorrow. Credit card terminals weren't working for our new cards with the chips in them. It took me forever to get out of there. Man I'm sleepy. But I know as soon as I lay down I'll be unable to get to sleep. sigh...

Not sure. My stomach is churning as I look at pictures being posted on FB of the fire. So dangerous! The pictures show DBro and DNephew (and others) were in the middle of it trying to remove enough round bales to have room to make a fire break. DNephew has feed lot type operation with several thousand head of cattle near the fire. They thought the cattle would be okay. From what I can see the bales of hay that burned were not the ones freshly baled & scattered in nearby field but the fire got into area where rows of several thousand hay bales were being stored for winter. I didn't see it or ask if the tractor burned. There was fire trucks, bob cats, ATV, feed trucks with bale movers going every which way. They were busy moving equipment so I didn't delay them once I found out they had plenty of help on hand and didn't need anything.

I am finally starting to have confidence in my laptop. It has been a couple weeks since I've heard the random audio being played. I did remove every app that isn't absolutely necessary and ran a half dozen different types of malware/virus/trojan detectors and killers. None of those found anything wrong (no virus). Whatever was causing the problem has seemed to settle down. I am not 100% sure but I think it stopped happening when I uninstalled the fitbit app from laptop. I guess I could reinstall the fitbit app and see if it starts happening again......but I'm now using smartphone to sync fitbit data now through bluetooth so don't need the software on laptop.

Oh my, LadyM! (((HUGS))) & prayers for your dnephew! So glad no one was hurt, but my goodness... what a loss... and how frightening it must have been.

We ate supper and I talked to dmom... now just reading and being lazy, I guess. I've been pretty worthless today.

Mid-day walk + time w/ds & dgs = not much in the way of WHB or Zone work around here.
