I think I lost my last post as I don't see it here. I am on my very last nerve. DD called for a long discussion about what she is going to do when she graduates. I can't decide for her, and talking while she googles possibilities makes me crazy. For the record, she's considering historic preservation now...and when we have ever tried to talk to her about it she has flounced off..

And typing with a splint on ring finger is also making me crazy.

Tada #6 -- Walked 2 miles outdoors, alone
-- which is a huge accomplishment, b/c it is so much harder for me to make myself do this when I don't have someone to talk to.
Also forgot to say earlier -- Bible reading (I am sorry to say I certainly do not spend an hour on that, which I am sure would be a much better use of my time than many things I do, but it is an important part of my day, so I wanted to include it in my ta-da's.)
Actually -- none of these "hourly" ta-da's take an hour, really -- except the school project, which is very much on-going, but I've given myself a Friday deadline on it. OTOH, to think about an 8-hour work day, and to have 8 ta-da's to report at the end of the day seems a very worthwhile and do-able goal for me, at the moment, anyway... so I am going to give that a lot of thought. Y'all know I sleep ridiculously late, but I should still be able to get 8 ta-da's in before I give out for the night, don't you think?

Also wondering how your dd is doing, LadyM. Is she still living w/your ds? And -- how is LO doing w/his "wiping"? Also thought about him the other day w/the bandage. We got flu shots and they used a really good bandaid on me. It was still stuck tight the second day, but after the second day shower, it did come off pretty easily.

And yes -- I was also glad to hear that Dee had arrived safely in the sunny South!

Oh, Harmony... such a headache with those blinds! I do not have good luck w/mini blinds, which I have in the kitchen, dining room, and ds's old room. I basically never raise them at all. Sometimes, I open them to let light through the slats. On all our other windows, we have shades, and we we do not have very good luck with those either. Our shades AND curtains are so precariously hung that dh will not let me take them down to wash! I imagine some day they will just rot off and fall away. This house may some day look like some old antebellum mansion, falling into cobwebs and disrepair... (only it's not a mansion, LOL!) I'll just be wandering around lost, like Gerald O'Hara...

Well, enough of THAT depressing thought. I think I would do better about things, however, if dh were more agreeable to having carpet cleaners come in, and painting, etc.

Continuing to keep Norma and all those in her community in my heart and prayers.

And hoping all is going well for Dove today!

DH just told me we are eating at local steak house w/ds, ddil, and dgs after the nursing home music tonight. I was so glad to hear that. I had hoped we would, but didn't know if he would want to -- w/the World Series starting and all that. He said he'd get to see a lot of the game anyway. I guess Tim Hudson must not be pitching tonight?

5th Ta-dah 9:30-10:30am = misc. desk work
6th Ta-dah 10:30-noon = nap (sorry Kathryn, I'm counting this because I'm still short of sleep from the sewing camp)
7th Ta-dah 12-1 pm = lunch, read newspapers
8th Ta-dah 1-2pm = wrote checks, took them to the post office to mail
9th Ta-dah 2-3pm = cleaned out my car, took recycling out to garage

Thank you Lucy Lee - you are so sweet to think of me. (And I forgot your anniversary, hope it was memorable.) I haven't posted or really CUOP much because of feeling so blah.

My Ta-Dah is that I am all packed and ready to leave early in the a.m. for San Jose. We are going to see the kids and the kids kids and grand-kids. Our greats are now 5 and 19 mos. and we haven't seen them since April because of Mr. Guy's knee surgery, therapy and just generally recovering. He is doing to well and we are on our way. Thursday night we will be in the Shark Tank for a game between the San Jose Sharks and the Columbus Blue Jackets. We will be sitting on the glass with our ddaugher and dsoninlaw. He is in a chair so that is why we can get the special seats. Right next to us is the door to the locker room for the opposing team. I think I will get to meet Jody Shelley who played for Columbus and San Jose before he retired and moved back to Ohio to his hometown and work broadcasting for the Blue Jackets. He was our Enforcer and a super guy. I am excited. (Another of my many favorites.)

We put away 1 dark LOL, DH is watching a baseball talk show, which is very entertaining, and I started a letter. They now say the storm hits us in the evening, followed by another storm tomorrow.

I'm getting ready to look through my gallon-sized "button jar" for shank buttons. If I don't find them, I'll make my own shanks from thread, for flat buttons, like they tell you how to do at You Tube and other sites.

DH will check the mail after 3 p.m. The carrier's either got to be a sub-carrier OR they've changed the route again, so we're later on the delivery time again. It's "okay" and everything, which means I have most of the day to finish snail mail. That's the good thing about it.

Norma, It's great you're all packed and ready to leave for San Jose early tomorrow. It'll be a lovely visit, too, for you and Mr. Guy and your Dfamily. I'm glad he can go. Enjoy!

We're looking forward to watching The World Series on TV this evening. I'll do some more yoga/stretching, too. I decided to not watch my cable show On Demand today. I don't want to see it today. Perhaps later in the week. I rested for about 10 minutes, but wasn't tired, as I slept so well last night.

Unbeknownst to me (because I was avoiding dh at that point) after the power was restored in the kitchen on Thanksgiving, he stopped using the dining room outlet (because the fridge is on that circuit) and put the microwave and toaster oven back on the same circuit using a power bar with a breaker.

So, that promptly blew this evening as I went to start dinner. Except this time, because the breaker went, only those two items stopped working, not the lights. So we didn't notice. Twenty minutes later, I realized the microwave hadn't beeped after 15 minutes to tell me to check the squash. So, we were tight for dinner to be ready by 6 (not even finished eating by 6) and now it won't be done until 6:30, which means pill can't be taken until 9, which means I either have to stay up until 11 to take my night-time vitamins but get up at 6 for the next pill, or give up on my night-time vitamins which I know increase the quality of my sleep (because I missed them a few weeks ago by accident and had a miserable night.)

Plus, I'm really, really, hungry.

From 3 - 4, my ta-dah was getting the broom closet organized.

From 4 - 5, my ta-dah was walking to the grocery store and back with 3 bags of groceries (with dh to carry the heavy stuff.)

From 5 - 6 it was supposed to be cooking dinner but since that didn't work out my only accomplishment is having a little cup of yogurt. I hate, hate, hate, yogurt but am concerned that 3 full weeks on these drugs will ruin my system so I bought some greek yogurt to try. I was able to choke it down with lots of water. BTW: it is very expensive. But I checked and acidophilus was more expensive (although there's more in that package) and my doctor really wasn't sure she'd recommend it since she said you can never tell if you are really getting the bacteria (even with yogurt.)

I may switch to cheaper yogurt but for today I bought 4 little cups for $4 and figured I'll try one per day and if I can keep that up, I switch to the larger container. Or go to Costco and see if it is less when I buy in larger quantities.

Another TA DA: have made progress in resolving the bank account for a family genealogy association that I used to be involved with. When I resigned - perhaps in 2010? the lady who handled things never took me off the bank account. Then about a year and a half ago, she passed away and no one knew where $$ were or could get to them. So today, called the bank, who wanted the EIN to talk to me. So, called IRS to get it, holding approx an hour and 10 minutes.

Wrote the letter to the bank, now to start supper.

11th Ta-dah 4-5pm = online banking for sewing group, more bookkeeping; checked the weather forecast for tomorrow afternoon when I will have to walk home from the mechanic's garage

Kathryn, Whenever I'm on an antibiotic, be it prescribed from the dentist or my doctor, they always suggest doubling up on probiotics at the same time. Has anyone suggested this idea to you? Or are you already taking them.

I sorted the mail, I'm drying whites/pastels and purged mail junk, which we don't "need" to keep hanging around. Mostly it's political ads, because our election's upcoming in November. I read 1 letter, put it away, in my office to reply to in order I've received letters. I've printed up Halloween clip art, for the letters, and stamped "Happy Haunting" in black on the envelopes. I took orange and black markers to decorate a framed border on the envelopes, too. They're festive and cute. I enjoyed doing it. I rarely rubber stamp anymore, but when I do take the time to do it, it's very enjoyable. Once, DGS and I found a box of rubber stamped cards, so we stamped a lot more. He drew pictures, I made smiley faces with curly hair, to resemble and grandma, signing my name "Grandma _". We ended up with 250 of them. We sent them to the kids who are ill at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. It was so fun to do that. We worked for about 4 hours, until DGS got tired and bored with it. He was about 9 at the time. It made us feel very good because DGS has a dfriend who passed away from cancer. So he put his heart and soul into the project. Even now, as he's soon to turn 18, he's very considerate of others and compassionate, too. It's fun to watch baby grandchildren grow up and mature into young people, almost ready to graduate and start their lives anew in the world.

I need to run and check the last LOL. I'm so glad we got things done, before the big storm arrives. We're going to watch The World Series and its pre-game show, too. DH is kinda rooting for the Royals to win, but I want the Giants to win because my Great Uncle lived in S. F. when he was alive, attended games and saw them on TV.
