LadyM that is so exciting. Boy I wish I could clean my home in an hour. You will notice the differences but in time take them in stride, changing your routines. It sounds nice and I'll cross my fingers your offer is accepted.

Not a whole lot done here. I did go to bank and drop books at library. I stopped at my "bedspread" church lady friend's who said she had some things for me. Nothing I really need or will probably use - people give her things and she passes them on...except a really cute small lamp I have a place for. It's a wood bird house brightly painted with a nice shade.

Kathryn, I'm glad you let us know how the news is affecting you. I was wondering.

Had to send an email to ins. agent. It's open enrollment time again and I may have to switch drug plans. I have one that makes me buy the expensive plan and this new book didn't list my Rx's at all.

I have dinner ready to go in the oven, h just went by in the work truck he will be late. I feel for the folks across the border still in lock down. Did my walk most of it. No rain here today.

Harmony, DH is on Medicare and he only uses generic medications, so they're covered. Do you use generic or brand name medications? That might be a reason the medications weren't listed in the book. :?: Perhaps they aren't generic and thus, aren't covered. :?:

Nancy, I'm with you, too. Feel sorry for our dneighbors to the North, being in a lock-down. :(

It's pouring rain, we've gotten over 1.14" in 24 hours or within 24 hours. This weekend, a big storm's due. DH has a memorial service to attend on Saturday, but if the storm's as bad as they say, he won't be attending. He did see the man 4 months ago, though. :)

I finished writing 2 letters. I enclosed a photo of a large bright stuffed cat I made DGS-4-at-the-time, in 2013. He adored it. :) I only have 1 letter to do now, to my BFF. She's in need of a pat on the back.

Have my dinner planned, we're each doing "our own thing" tonight. I'm within my caloric quota for the day, too. So this is nice. :)

Need to plan out Thursday and Friday next. I'll do my p. m. routine early tonight, too. It's nice to get it done early, so I can do what I want and relax in the evening.

Helia, Your popcorn sounds good. :D Nice to "see" you again. ;)

Lucylee, It's great your Dmom is decluttering. :)

Have a nice evening,Everybody! :D Don't know if I'll BBL or not. :?: I might schedule a "side-tracked" session and get some things done I've been putting off.

* whew * Survived the afternoon w/dmom... I guess you're right, LadyM, that ANY sort of decluttering is a step forward for her. It is just SOOO frustrating to me. We filled a large (33 gal?) trashbag w/the throwaways, stuff she doesn't think she could even sell in a yard sale. She said it was a big help to her to have me out there, b/c she would probably have ended up putting a lot of it right back in the cedar chest. She is VERY sentimental about clothes she likes. (I am the same way, in that regard, but I don't think I am quite as bad as her.)
The paper tiger in the kitchen... good grief... She had a paper dated Sept. 9 on the kitchen table. And another dated Oct. 8. I think these were still in the celephane wrapping. * sheesh * In her defense, she said she thought those were two that had gotten knocked down behind her microwave. She had the hand-held vacuum out and said she had been cleaning behind it, b/c apparently her housekeeper "doesn't vacuum behind or under ANYTHING." Still. Y'all, this is just amazing -- the sight of that kitchen table. It just makes me really NERVOUS and irritable to be around it. (I get the same way at ds's cluttered up house.)
But she got kinda irritable when I suggested my time could be more wisely spent bringing order to the table. She asked if "it is too much to ask that you just sit and talk with me while I eat my lunch?" * sigh *
Anyway, we spent the afternoon w/out ANY unpleasant/embarrassing/anxiety producing conversation topics, so that was good. Discarded a beauty walk dress and a bridesmaids dress I wore once, and found my kindergarten graduation gown. LOL. Dmom was really pleased when she figured out what that was. Discarded LOTS of polyester skirts/etc. Ugh. Also found an enbroidered denim-type jacket dmom made me -- which I definitely want to keep. It has different kinds of flowers on the yokes and cuffs, and up the button placket (sp?). She really put a lot of time into it, and (with the matching pants) it was one of my favorite outfits in 8th grade. :)

I also returned the call to dfriend, and I called duncle (who came home from his surgery yesterday). I'm afraid I said something (totally casually, and not meaning it in a negative way at all) which duncle MIGHT construe to use as criticism of ds -- but dmom said don't worry about it, duncle is in a lot of discomfort right now, taking a lot of pain med, and would likely not remember anything I said at all. Dmom and I agreed we might try to go visit him this weekend... but as y'all know, I won't be holding my breath waiting on dmom.

Now I'm going to chill out w/dh to watch the ballgame and maybe read a little while. I'm exhausted.

Of course this morning my first thought was Kathryn. Other than that, I tried to keep the news off for most of the day. Interesting to hear how CNN was being played on our stations for updates.... and, yes, if the hockey got cancelled, things were serious!

I need to figure out how to start a favourites list on my new laptop so all y'all are at my fingertips instead of (ugh) trying to find this site with a search engine.

In other news from my new homefront (please sit down before you read this) I have been using a clothes flattening device on a flat, table-like thing to actually flatten the clothes. Not only have I re-discovered this hand-warming appliance, I have been (shudder) enjoying it. Who knew that heating this hand warmer and pressing it down onto the flat surface with a piece of cloth underneath it could be satisfying. Oh, my goodness!

(CathyS) :D I'm happy you found enjoyment in this particular neatness.

So nice to find something your dmom made for you, lucylee.

Cathy When a chore gets dramatic results I like it. Just don't over heat anything, especially yourself!

My sister called to see how dd is doing. Dd will be over tomorrow and taking the bus one way. I'll take her shopping on the way home.

The lock-down has been lifted in downtown although people aren't allowed onto the Hill. Even as late as 7 p.m. a reporter who was locked down inside Parliament mentioned there were children in the room with him. School tours got caught up in the day. The worst was that no food was available for people (except those who brought lunch.) That was the situation in all downtown offices today and most weren't released from lockdown for 6 hours or more.

Found out that the shooter was from the town across the river and dh said he heard that the Quebec police were searching each car that came across so that was the source of the traffic snarl. There should have been signs. Actually, our CBC station did a really poor job directing traffic all day since the rush hour started at noon. They didn't talk about traffic at all, mention which bridges were open, or anything useful. There was also a huge power failure miles from downtown that didn't get mentioned until hours into it which would have been nerve wracking for people there, not knowing if it was caused by part of the attack.

I've taken my evening pill and will head to bed soon. Mulling around my sermon. The scripture passage this week includes "you shall love your neighbour as yourself." This might be tough.
