Saturday Successes

Squares are made. They were much easier to make this time (no panicking) but they still took 30 minutes until they were put in the fridge to chill.

In the next 15, I got the dishes all washed up and the kitchen tidied and garbage down the chute. My kettle is ready for me in the morning and my blueberries are defrosting in the fridge.

Next up, prepare the service. Praying it is almost done (haven't looked at the service part in 9 days - I know I started it.)

The service is finished. I'm getting to bed late but a full 90 minutes before last night! Improvement!

Final score for the day: 10/13. I'd call that a successful day!

I am posting late...but just wanted to say hello. We got back about 5:00. Trip back was ok, but long long. We started out from town a bit distance from DD's as we went to a Christmas tree farm in Eustice. That was fun, we got to enjoy watching the kids do a zip line, ride a horse, the petting zoo, a big bouncy "pillow", a hay ride out to the Christmas trees. We brought back a 5' one that DGSon 11 cut for us. It's the first live one we've had for oodles of years and we spent too much $ but I got caught up in the moment... and it is really pretty in the corner of our family room on a very low table. It's not decorated yet.

Thanksgiving was lovely, it's so nice to be with family. DD2 came back the next day with 2 out of 3 kids as they couldn't stay long with us Thurs. So that was nice. We didn't get to see them on our way out of town because they were out.

Traveling isn't getting any easier. It is very hard on DH. I honestly can't believe the changes in him. It's like he's aging at double speed and I'm loping along right behind him. Walking along on uneven ground today was troublesome and getting up into the hay wagon hard.. we took a few walks around the neighborhood while we were up there and he tried one but had to go in before we finished. sigh...I don't like any of this.

Plus he wasn't able to sleep well and that was a problem. At home if he prowls around he doesn't bother me, but where there are other people, I was nervous about that. He just doesn't sleep very long or soundly.

Too many carbs. I tried to take tiny portions. Don't think I did too bad.
Lots of things to do to catch up around here. It's nice to be back!

Yes, Harriet is exactly right, FF -- and after I got him unstuck from the closet shelf, I realized we do not have Stretch Armstrong, we have his friend (or perhaps his nemesis?) Stretch Monster. As I recall, dbro was disappointed to learn this some time ago, after discovering on eBay that Stretch Armstrong is worth big bucks. Stretch Monster, probably not as much, and definitely not with his broken and shrunken arm now. He used to be filled with a jelly-like substance, but now that it's leaked out, it looks like resin, I guess. It's amber-colored, and it has hardened on everything. The only way to get it off will be to just chip it off with a putty knife or something, and I'm just not in the mood to even begin to tackle it at this point. It's in the guest closet, where we store the Christmas tree and all ds's old toys and clothes like the graduation gown and football sweaters, etc. * OOOHHH... I am sooo glad it did not leak on dh's football sweaters! * Whew *

Speaking of nemesises (sp? ) Yeah... RR's team won tonight. But it was a really good game until midway through the 4th quarter. Up until that point, I think it could have gone either way, and it was the highest scoring game in the history of our rivalry. Of course, some would say that just proves neither team has any sort of defense.

Oh well... I do have wreaths on the doors, candles in the windows, and lights on the tree. No other decorations -- yet -- but I'll keep working on it. First -- sheets on the bed. That should probably be the highest priority of the night at this point.
