(LOL -- our nursery worker has been married over 35 years... I typed her maiden name instead of her married name. * shaking my head * I've known her since high school, so, you know how it is. She has grandchildren older than mine but I still think of her as Sally MaidenName. )

[x] talked to ds, who called wanting to talk to dh about new pitcher signed by the Braves.

Well, I am kinda amazed at my own progress today. I haven't been very "friendly" to all of y'all, though -- I've just popped in to say "Look what I've done!" and popped out.

DH here is always "out of touch" if I am following that conversation correctly, helia & Kathryn. He does not have a cell phone and -- get this -- he prefers to keep the landline phone OFF THE HOOK. It forwards to my cell phone if it gets a busy signal, so 99% of the time, we use the cell phone. As dh has gotten older, the ringing of the phone just drives him completely to distraction. With the cell phone, we can silence it immediately and it will go to voice mail. With the landline, we just have to listen to it ring ring ring if it is an out-of-area call that we suspect is a sales call. However, this constant use of the cell phone is very troublesome if my dmom calls and I answer the cell phone, b/c we'll be on it for an hour, and there go my minutes. So I try to call dmom on the landline, and most of the time if I answer the cell phone when she calls, I either try to get off the phone VERY quickly, or I ask if I can call her back on the other phone.
We started forwarding our calls when we had dial-up internet, and then it was so much better for dinlaws, b/c they couldn't remember our cell number, so they could always use the same number, whether we were home or not. It's just automatic now to have the phone off the hook, and dgs keeps wanting to hang it up, LOL.

I am sooo glad to have those minutes done. It took about 30 minutes. I need to do new Excel rosters. I cannot find ANY rosters saved on my computer, and I have used the same one for two years, just adding names as people show up at meetings. I have no idea what position these people hold and last night when someone mentioned the Trustee chairman, John, I had to admit that I still had Jim as the chairman. So that was one of the emails, to ask the church secretary if she could help me get this organized again. I guess like my mom, I have lost a lot of brain power over the last couple of years too.

It really is stressful to lose a parent or a spouse's parent every year, isn't it?

And then dmom was saying tonight that she expects her neighbors and I will just have to take care of her for the majority of the coming year. She is very determined that immediately upon getting her 2014 taxes filed, she will begin her self-care... probably in this order:
1. back surgery
2. bladder surgery
3. dentures
4. foot surgery
+ She has to get her eyes checked and get new glasses.
* sigh * At least dbro told her he would be here and help her recuperate.
AND, she did make progress today and get flooring samples for the floor man.

I will get back to work on my cards now, too, Nancy. Then my PODA will be complete for today. Goodness, I wish dh would play golf every week...

Oh -- we got to Skype w/dgs last night! I'm not sure he could see us, b/c ddil was having some trouble on her end, but we could see him! That was fun. "Hi, Nana! Hi, Granddaddy!" I promise you, we are anxious to see him in person again soon. (Monday they will be back.)

I do hope it is your dh who is stalking you, Kathryn!

Twins, it sounds like you did great on your errands! Sounds like lots of much needed pampering for YOU! You really do deserve it, with all your doing for your dmom, dsis, plus all the aggravation w/temple issues and now this religious school confusion. I hope you and Mr. Twins had a nice dinner tonight!

Church youth group here just dropped off a jar of cookie mix. That's so neat! It looks like it has chocolate chips, marshmellos, rice krispies, and oatmeal in it. Note just says, "We are thankful for YOU! Share that thankfulness with others!" and the church youth group name.

December is not a good time to start new projects.

No, it is not.
I am trying to do some mini-habit forming though. I realized that flylady's baby steps were never going to work for me, b/c some of the stuff she has you do, I just am not going to do. Certainly not every day... and s2s FIRST THING is really difficult if I plan to walk. So instead, I looked at my own check list. Some things I do without even thinking about, but some things, I really, REALLY struggle with and they almost never get done. So two weeks ago, I decided my own list will be MY baby steps. Flylady has you add a step each day, but I felt I needed more time to make it a HABIT. So each week I add a step.
Week 1 -- straighten bed and do morning stretches
Week 2 -- s/s master bath
Week 3 -- do Bible reading
So far, it does seem to be working. I've not gotten overwhelmed, and it IS becoming more and more habitual to do those things. Of course, these are some of the easier steps, but still, as we mentioned yesterday, the TREND is good.

Looking at Harmony and Sadie's discussion of insurance. I am concerned about what ds's will be this year. Someone wrote a letter to the local paper saying theirs had gone up from $300 to over $1100 per month!
And Harmony, I used to get multi-colored file folders at Wmart (for school) -- but of course, that's been a couple years now. I haven't looked in a while.

This is just a quick C. I.

I woke up at 2:20 a.m.! I had gastritis AND a swollen/throbbing ankle! I ended up getting 2 morning naps in, feel better, but am wearing down now. I'm wearing an elastic ankle brace on my ankle, and no reason to be concerned, as this is an ankle which acts up from time to time. I iced/elevated, when I could.

I got the last (#3!) bath tub puppet crocheted. The puppets are "hiding" inside the crocheted afghans, so the kids will be "surprised" when they pop out, when they open their gifts. I wrapped a crocheted hat/scarf set and Aplets & Cotlets, for our 98.5-year-old Dfriend. I wrapped 1 box of Aplets & Cotlets for: DH's buddy, for the mail carrier, too, and wrapped 1 pair of potholders, which took well over 12 hours, one weekend, to make, for DH's buddy's DWife. Whew. Now I need to put away 3 folded sheets of gift wrap and stick-on labels. ALL gifts are out of the way, inside the hope chest, for delivery later this month.

Dh is home now. The flight was late so I did laps around the airport; at first inside then I was getting warm (had my hat and coat on) so went through the concourse, out one door, back along the pickup area to the opposite end of the concourse and back inside. Managed to walk a mile doing that so have crossed 10K steps again today.

Off to bed now. The fire alarm testing starts at 10 so we won't be able to sleep in too late! Dd is coming around noon for a quick visit.
