Speaking of noise no one has mentioned toys that talk and make noise with no volume control or mute button! The gma did not want them at her house now I know why!

Re: Figure Out the Clean-up Tuesday
Trying not to be distracted by RR's links!
Ate lunch at home because we ran out of time. That meant one errand got dropped too.
Were at the travel clinic almost 2 hours. Got my typhoid shot. Dh already had his (that was a surprise to me.) Dh got his meds for Kilimanjaro at the same time. I have a prescription to fill for us for this trip and need to buy lots of bug spray but we are spared anti-malarial drugs for this trip (dh will be on them for 2 weeks in the autumn.)
After that we did a quick grocery shop and then got the car washed.
After getting home, I put things away, then returned the bags to the car and picked up the mail. I'm defrosting meat for dinner. What I really want is a nap. No reason - I slept well last night.
The music hasn't been on since we got home. They booked two days for the inspection - not sure things went well and they are done, or if we'll go through this tomorrow as well (not good since dh has a conference call.)
My arm is starting to ache badly from the shot. Apparently it will be even worse tomorrow.

Re: Figure Out the Clean-up Tuesday
Appropriate consequences and consistent follow through sound like common sense parenting tactics to me. We would even involve older kids (teens) in determining their consequences, like choosing which privilege would be given up for how long. They were often more stringent than we would have been. It is hard to be consistent. We talk about this in our moms group from time to time.
That is so interesting about some students needing the test read to them, RR. For the first time, I had an adult student ask me to read a couple test questions out loud to him during the last session. He understood the questions better after hearing them. I had a 2nd student make the same request on a test. Maybe this is a different issue, though, because in the case of my students, it could be culturally based. I think cultures vary in how orally oriented they are in their communication. At least students from some countries tend to come to us as very orally communicative and with better speaking and listening skills than reading and writing skills. Students from other countries come to us with the opposite strengths, strong reading, writing, and especially grammar skills but poor oral communication skills. . .
I got distracted! I took the learning style test and I am almost evenly split between visual and auditory, with auditory coming out slightly ahead. I think that is incorrect. I am actually more of a visual learner, but I agree that I can learn both ways. .. .

Re: Figure Out the Clean-up Tuesday
DH cannot talk to me or do anything if the tv is on. Can. Not.
Difficult day. I put my saga in J & C.
DH is resting, had dinner in bed. Earlier when we were searching for the key, which had originally been on his end table, I noted just how bad that area had become. I'd just given up being able to dust/clean around there because of the piled up stuff all over, which was getting worse and worse. And clothes not on the wall rack or chair or in the closet but piled all over.
Well, that's the wrong thing to do. I have to take over that area even if it is his personal space and I would hate him doing anything with mine. (Ha! like that'd ever happen). I sorted clothes, organized the junk piles of stuff and put what I could away; I cleaned and wiped all the wires to everything behind the table and the wall and floor..
It won't stay that way long. I need to make it a daily check. I feel like a mother, not a wife.
Folded towels, sheets, hung up 1 LOL. Made phone call. Made dinner. Need to see to the dishes. And my desk is still piled up.
RR I will look at your links when things settle down around here. I am definitely not an auditory learner. Must be visual, and helps when I write things down and not just read them.

Re: Figure Out the Clean-up Tuesday
Have had a Very Good crazy busy day.
Sprained my ankle hiking, so won't be sitting here with my feet on the floor. Will be icing, elevating, and doing other things.
Just a quick C. I. for now!
Have a great afternoon and evening, Everyone!

Re: Figure Out the Clean-up Tuesday
Hmmm... ... I knew something was amiss when there were icicles hanging off the car and I had to warm it up before school pick-up. We just can't have an ordinary snowfall without complications of "icy mix" coming down, too.
School system did cancel everything - after-school clubs, all athletics, practices and the evening meetings. They definitely rushed dismissal at dd's school, where buses were already leaving by the time the first bell would have rung.
60-something wrecks in our county before the commute time started. Sigh.
Wondering what they will do tomorrow morning. If this afternoon and evening is considered too treacherous, the morning can only be considered worse, I would assume, after a freezing night. Dd says the one thing she heard for sure is that the cafeteria ladies told them to stay home Thursday morning, the roads would be too bad.
I just want a normal Sunday. If we can manage through and have a Sunday in which folks could come to church without worry, and everybody check on each other and hear each other's stories or needs, I'll be happy. Many couldn't come last Sunday, so we need to find out.
We went by the grocery and called HRH from there to ask what we might be forgetting. Also PO.
Ate yogurt. Acid reflux. I have to learn this lesson about once every 6 months. Serves me right. In a funny twist, I think I reached for it on the shelf at grocery because of the impression it would be cold and soothing to tummy, which, now that I think about it, was probably just protesting a taco.
My toaster is broken. HRH insists he can fix it.
So, since THAT won't happen, I will be doing without until weather allows a store trip.

Re: Figure Out the Clean-up Tuesday
DH tried to fix our toaster. We had been jamming a handle in the spring mechanism to make it stay down for months. Which caused the toast to burn if we didn't watch and remove the handle. Yeah, he couldn't fix it. Came back with a shiny new chrome one.
DH medicated. Warm gel pad. Minerals too. Can't think of anything else to do for him.
Cleaned a pretty big mess up in kitchen. I'm working at my desk now.

Re: Figure Out the Clean-up Tuesday
Took an ibuprofin for my arm and aches and am feeling a bit better.
Dh says it will be an early bed tonight because he's tired from being up in the middle of the night. He was going to get out of bed at 3:50 and when I looked on my sleep record, I show no disturbance then (although I remember him leaving the room.) I did show one at 2:35 which, when I asked him, is when he actually left the room. I was snoring and he couldn't sleep because he was worried about the phone call so he just got up and worked. Nice to know my fitbit is so accurate.
I've done the weekly kitchen chores and cleaned up dinner. Also did two miles on the treadmill before his Tuesday night conference call started. I'll be short steps for the day but only a few hundred.
Still need to get to work on the service for Sunday. Lots of prayers to write.
Apparently I can't work anymore at 3 mph on the treadmill so I gave up trying and just walked as fast as I could. It was a good workout but there was no multi-tasking involved. That only happens at about 2.5 mph. It is both my physical balance that needs all my concentration, both mental and physical, so my hands can't be up for typing and even reading a screen doesn't work for me since I have to concentrate on content and I need to concentrate on balance.

Re: Figure Out the Clean-up Tuesday
(((Harmony))) I am so sorry you and dh are having so much to deal with. Praying tomorrow is a better day.
On our way home. Lost the ball game but the trip has been okay. I'm still kinda grumpy bc I really want to tell dh that he really needs to step up and realize that turnabout is fair play, you know, but right now is not a good time to start a tense conversation. Sigh.
I am 40% auditory and 40% visual, which surprised me, too, helia. I would say I'm much more visual. My mind really wanders if I have to listen to a long lecture of something. I have to take notes just to keep my mind on the subject.
