Lucylee: go to Walmart or CVS and buy an old fashioned alarm clock (I mean one without internet.) I actually use a battery powered countdown timer since I can then set the alarm for 8 hours from bedtime and not have to do any arithmetic. Of course, if I need to be up by X, then there is math involved! No electricity, no internet required and the battery lasts years.
Your problem is probably closer to mine. No problem waking up in the morning, the problem is getting out of bed once you've put your smart device in your hand. I'll play Scrabble and solitaire for over an hour. A day I only play for 30 minutes is a triumph!
We are back from dinner. Dh proposed pizza and I agreed because I'm ignoring this swelling. Harriet would be appalled. Actually, I've had 10 glasses of water today as I did yesterday. Today I had 'real' tea, as I did yesterday so maybe that will help as a diuretic. I need to buy cucumber (which is what I used when pregnant with ds.)
He asked if I wanted to come with him and I said I would and then proposed a pizza picnic so we took milk to drink and fresh berries for our dessert. He thought we'd go to the park behind the pizza place but it is under the freeway and I'm tired of listening to vehicles. Besides, this time we had a car, not our bikes, so I suggested the island in the middle of the river. We drove over to it and despite it being beside one busy road and across the water from another, the rapids drowned out the highway noises.
We had a lovely dinner, then walked around the island (just over 1.5 miles.)
I've washed up the dishes and am having a cup of tea right now. Given how hot the apartment is, this is a bad choice! I really must learn how to make ice tea.

Kathryn, my ankles swell a little every day. Only thing that helps them is to put my feet up. Dr. told me long time ago it was from my pregnancies, something about valves in the blood vessels...or something like that having to do with how many babies I had. I'm supposed to be wearing elastic stockings. Yeah. Elastic stockings in 90° temps. Sure. Mine go down every night, back up by late morning. Salt does make it worse.
Lucylee, LOL, we are in parallel universes with my DH and your DDad. Stuff all over. I've given him a little plastic bin to put all his c__p in but he prefers to spread it all over every surface available. And he never seems to know where any of it is...where's my phone, my wallet, my keys (still lost from Monday). I think it comes from their brains being too full of details to remember, working too hard etc. No room in the grey matter for organizing their lives. Oh, about the S2S, do what I do, I mostly do that at night. I love crawling into bed all fresh and clean. It lasts well enough that I don't feel dirty in the morning. Sometimes I do wash my hair in the middle of the day... well, it works for me. I don't understand S2S and then doing dirty work..
Like when I had babies, I always bathed in the evening after the day of slobber and diapers was over.
It only took me 2 weeks to get everything vacuumed and mopped again. I should call it the bi-weekly house blessing.
Going to go S2slippers and crawl between the sheets.

(((Twins))) I am so sorry about Macs but I do know that you provided a loving home for many years to 2 beautiful dogs. When the time came you put their needs ahead of your own, as hard as it was to do the humane thing.
We got home by 3. Dd took care of dhs drain and will come back before bedtime. Dh rode with me to pick up the mail. It was to be held until Monday but I didn't want to wait. There was a lot of rain while we were gone. Last Friday Dh went to put the new tag sticker on the motor home. While there he went inside and noticed a quarter size hole in the roof vent. We had recently had pea size hail. It was too late to have it replaced, so Dh folded a construction strength plastic bag and taped it down. He had worried that it had blown off. It was still there and everything was fine in the motor home.
When we got home, he wanted to shower and get in a pair of his New comfy pjs. Dd2, dgd18 and the 2 little girls came to see grandpa. Both Dd2 and dgd18 thought the incision was much better than we thought. The 2 little girls wanted to stay but I didn't hav the energy to keep them .

Shopping took 2 hours longer than planned, but I found what I was looking for.
Found 3 Mother's Day cards -- 2 pretty and 1 funny. I wasn't sure which type DH would want to give his DMom.
Found 3 books at the used book store. Not the ones I was looking for, unfortunately, but some good summer reading on the clearance shelf.
Found 5 shirts on sale 40% off.
Score! *\o/* I wanted something new to wear to the family party Sunday that would also be appropriate for work. I lucked out that they had that many in my size, right style, and the exact colors I wanted. I'm hoping to make a few knit tops with the new sewing pattern I just bought at class, and that should give me enough work clothes for the rest of the summer.
Tonight I need to do a few things to get ready for the sewing group meeting, which is first thing tomorrow morning. I didn't get around to doing the dishes this morning -- see,
Lucylee, you're not the only one who gets sidetracked by a.m. internet!

-- so I'll do those tonight as well.

Talked to dh for a while tonight. He, DS-R, DDIL#1 and DGS10 were all sitting out around a campfire. It reached over 90* there today so they were sitting in tank tops. (Of course this coming week is supposed to be 50's). Found out DDIL broke her foot Monday when she rolled her ankle in a pot hole she didn't see -at the funeral home. Since she was on duty (she was part of the Honor Guard for our county's long-time sheriff) the department doctor saw her Tuesday. mean time she 'grinned and bear it'. She saw the orthopedist today. Said if she stays off it and rests she should be much better by Monday. She stood as honor guard for over 10 hours!!

This sheriff was so special to her and vice versa. He pretty much adopted her as a 'daughter'. Think some of that had to do with her battle against breast cancer.
Been looking at printers with dd. Think I'll go ahead and order one on Tuesday. I need one that I can use to scan things and do decent printing of photos. My present one still works but not great. I have a lot of black ink and will keep it to run things like our annual reports for church. At least until the ink is pretty well gone and then out it goes.
DD and Dsonil will spend a good share of the day tomorrow with his Mom (it was her 'significant other' who passed away last night). She wants them to go to the funeral home with her tomorrow afternoon so they're going over to take her to lunch and the other errands. DD had asked me about going to Mayfair tomorrow downtown, but sounds like that's not going to happen.
We've pretty well decided to not go to lunch with our group from church Sunday. The restaurants will be crazy! Actually pizza for lunch sounds just fine to me. We don't really want to celebrate "mom's day" here right now. Think it will always be a difficult day to pay attention to for dd and I'm not overly fond of it anyway. I'd rather have a call, a campfire, a cup of coffee any day during the year. Granted I get to do a lot of that with dd a good share of the year. You'd think she'd get tired of having Mom and Dad, but she doesn't. Family is very important to her.

Making progress. Not there yet but will make it by Monday afternoon.
Dh is off to the plant sale in the morning and I'll work on the sermon. Then switch back to bookkeeping after the sermon is done.
I have two items 80% done. And the remaining 4 are quick. All the digging through archive boxes is done.

Timing and being ready - in a world where bright people fix their hair just-so on the morning of an "I should look good" day, I always wash mine the night before. I let air dry for a while and "put up" (at nape of neck) into a soft-fabric scrunchie-bun and let time curl it. (twist once, pull through, twist 2nd time and pull nearly through) I think the new ones Nancy made recently of pajama fabric might be like these. All I really need is soft and fluffy enough fabric that it doesn't bug me though the night. The next morning when I get to where I'm going, I pull out the scrunchie - often sight-unseen - and trust it to have made slight curls and kept my hair from straying too much. That's all I figure I can hope for and stay anywhere near on-schedule with the rest of my life.
"Harriet would be appalled" - well, Harriet would gain two pounds by the next morning from the pizza, that's for sure, lol. If you drank 10 glasses of water Kathryn, you've been pretty smart. Let's see... ... swollen ankles. ... Rotating the ankles in circles, and back-and-forth toe pointing/flexing is helpful. I recently read about a lady who adds celery and cucumbers to smoothies to release water, and I'm sure just eating those veggies would be similar help.
Ds30, ddil, my green-eyed boy and his little sister all came to see us this evening and we had sandwiches and the pie I'd made. My green-eyed boy brought me a bird feeder! Don't know where I'll put this, but I told him I was sure that Tobias would love it. Ds and ddil enjoyed a walk along our road.
Have been meaning to tell that HRH, who voraciously works the puzzles in the daily paper, was frustrated not to have that section one day. So I gave him my First magazine, which has puzzles at the back. He brought it to me after just a few minutes in disappointment, having found both a printed error that ruined the Sudoku, and a question mistake in the crossword. I double checked the crossword one and found another mistake in a question for an intersecting word! I like that magazine and usually find it informative, but that experience was a big surprise! Makes you appreciate the good 'ol daily paper.
