Oh my goodness LadyM. Wow. What a surprised that news must have been. Can someone have a heart attack without knowing it? ((HUGS)) and maybe the tests will show it isn't so bad. Yes, please take care of yourself. I'm so glad they're finding this out now. You'll be in my prayers.

Women are more likely to have a silent heart attack than men. This is mainly because heart attacks in women tend to cause less obvious symptoms generally.
Forget the crushing chest pain people on TV always have, it's just as common for women to experience toothache, jaw or neck pain or simply feel drained of all energy.
And many dismiss these symptoms as just feeling a bit off colour.
In men and women, a silent heart attack may leave no symptoms. However, there are sometimes body clues that indicate something is wrong.
If you you have any of the risk factors for heart disease see your doctor immediately for the following symptoms...
/ Extreme fatigue
/ Feeling as if you have a severe flu you can't shake off
/ Neck, shoulder or jaw pain
/ Shortness of breath following any exertion such as walking up the stairs
/ Nausea
/ Indigestion
/ Dizziness
Doctors can usually only tell whether a patient has had a silent attack by looking for tell-tale signs on an electrocardiogram scan, which will show up areas of damage in the heart.
Egads: shortness of breath after walking up stairs - that's why I'm being sent for the stress test (although I've been complaining about it to doctors for years and they say I'm just out of shape and the fact that I walk, on average 3+ miles a day means nothing about my fitness level.)
(((LadyM))) I know how much I cried after knowing my knees were shot. This must be a real shock to you.
P.S. Yay for your doctor listening carefully and following up.

Wishing you all the best LadyM. Praying for a solution, and an easing of any stressful situations. You always seem to have your hands full.
I've been walking the 3 k block more often.
re Harriet's book - quoted propositions.
Iodised salt increases IQ by 10 -15 points. Think what that does to someone who would have been average, gets an abundance of junk food salt and no iodine.
Also, what I call junk food can carry a heavy chemical load, ingredients that would need to carry warnings on the label in the Eu.
There was a dietary experiment done by some UK police, where a group of juveniles (boys) well known to them and the courts were videoed before and after the provision of healthy food to their homes. The before gathering with their parents showed the boys scrapping, bouncing around, unable to sit still. The after shot had them able to sit quietly with their parents, transformed into out of trouble kids. They all stayed out of trouble except for one boy whose family decided to ditch the dietary guidelines.
The 2 week experiment in a SA primary school (class?) where the children were taught to read labels and avoid the nastiest additives. The principal reported far less children sent to his office for misbehaviour. At the end of the trial they could chose an item with additives from the canteen, and see the result. They all were reporting difficulties, and could see the benefits.
In families where the children are very affected, often the parents are also affected, though their reactions tend to affect their health rather than behaviour.
Stepping off my soap box.

LynLee - don't get off your soapbox! Tell it Girl!
Yesterday I felt like a bomb shell had dropped on me. I wasn't expecting to hear heart damage. It is hard for me to process the information because I'm someone who takes no medication, has high energy, is strong and fairly healthy (other than extra weight). Yes, I know it can happen to anyone......but I didn't think it would be me!!
Today I'm bouncing back from the news and ready to do whatever it needed. I don't have enough information for the overall picture but I do know I have to make some lifestyle changes. I will focus on what I can do now.
Reading information on the web can be hit/miss and scary. I do feel better after reading
this article and especially like the ending
Overall, in 80% to 90% of fainters, a likely cause can be established and effective treatment initiated.
I contacted RR and she gave me some good information how she lost weight and found support. THANK YOU.
When I told DSon/DDIL they immediately responded with "you can do this! We will all go Low carb to support you!" and sent me a couple of books.
The FNG was very supportive and gave their recommendation on medical care.
So, I'm starting today with a better mindset. Not panic, but full of hope and determination.

Others have said it all very well. ((Lady M)) You
can do this! Yes, heart attack more likely to be silent for women. Glad your doc looked at alternative issues.
I got to the local library branch on Thursday but the book Harriet mentioned was already gone. I hadn't been able to log in to the library site to put it on hold.
In my upset last night over dd I ate very badly, and I also didn't get a walk at all yesterday, so consider that a step back. Pizza pushed my weight up by 2 lbs overnight. Still haven't gone to MFP to log it all in, it's not pretty at all. MFP will tell me I'll weigh 200 lbs next week probably.

Twins: I find MFP is a bit more gentle than that. Besides, it calculates you out 5 weeks, not next week!
Still, it is always a shock to see it predict higher than I currently weigh!
I biked to the garage sales today. No fitness credit for that (too slow plus on & off all the time) but it allowed me to go farther and bring home more things than had I walked. We might go for a bike ride after dinner tonight and I hope to make that one a fitness one.
