DS13 is taking care of two homes while the occupants are on vacation. They showed him how to water the flowerpots, garden, grass, and care for each pet. He is doing things on the inside and outside of their homes. He is charging $6 a day for two trips to their home (AM & PM). I personally think he ought to charge $6 a trip ($12 a day) but he is the one who set the price. Giving a 13 year old access to everything is a risk they are willing to take. They trust him and he values that highly. He is careful to follow their instructions but if something goes wrong then I don't feel like he should be blamed. He would feel horrible if flowers died or something happened to the pets. Maybe it is my Mama/Nana heart going into protective mode for DS13, but I feel like as long as he does exactly what they told him, then it is not his fault. They are welcome to hire someone else to do it next time.
Our At.t plan is out of date too and they raised it $12 last month. They have been sending text, emails and snail mail to encourage us to change to a plan that is currently available. That has been on my to-do list but the priority is low, so I haven't investigated it. We have 4 smartphones with unlimited everything (data, text, calls, etc) for a total cost of $140 a month (including all the extra fees they tack on). That is $35 a month per phone and the kids & I use lots of data. I don't think I can beat that price, but I haven't tried. I always feel like there are unknown factors when switching plans and giving up a known plan feels risky. If I could try it for a month or two and then switch back if I am not pleased, then I might.....but they won't let you switch back to what I have. Anyway, I am hesitant to do it. I love all techie stuff and am eager to jump in and try all the new stuff.....but I'm a big old scaredy cat when it comes to switching phone plans.old plan was discontinued and they put increases on it. Should have left well enough alone, because probably, even with increases, I may have been better off.
I have filled AM and PM containers for 3 months of meds. That is 180 containers filled. I don't even want to think about how many OTC and prescription pills I carefully doled out, checked, and doubled checked. . ANYway, it was a PITA to accomplish but I'm thrilled to have it done.
