Hmmm. Yes I think that is the trouble. Dad wants it himself. If he were to let one of us do it with the promise of agreement would that work? The thing he needs it for is to update his really old will but he can't sign for mom. We are kinda stuck in the fact that from the two of us I'm not sure it would help to tell him that. I don't know what to do. I'm going to have to hunt down some knowledgeable people.

That is an impressive mower, Lauralind. That's too bad about the impromptu freezer clean out! But I'll bet that Casper loved his berry juice.
I can imagine that your dmother enjoyed the visit with the dogs and cat from the animal shelter, Gma. I'm glad that you had a nice dinner with Mr. VKM tonight. You gave him good advice. It will help D to save up and become independent.
Mmmm... pizza... Little Bit is having a fun sleepover, L.Ann.
(((helia))) I am so glad that they caught this early! That's not one to mess around with.
Hi, Peaches
It seems that I am still in Relax Mode, so not much to report from my end. Tomorrow I hope to go to the Greek Festival, if I can light a fire under me.
Do you have someone in your church who has gone through this, Lauralind, who might be able to point you in the right direction?

Bush hog, yep it’s a hog in kittykatt’s bushes, eating up all the blooms.
Think the deck on a riding lawn mower only much larger, an attachment piece that hooks onto a tractor to mow grass in large quantities.
POA: dh’s sister had one for their mom but was doing horribly, we had to get one for us through an attorney. She thankfully signed over with no objection. Our attorney made a court appointment with the judge, we met in a small office and signed the papers. Just us, not his sister. His mom had to have someone from the court there to represent her since she couldn’t speak for herself and he asked us some questions (there was drugs and abuse involved) but he was very nice, it all went very smoothly, and didn’t last more than an hour. Basically the same would happen for anyone incapacitated as far as I know. It does seem like different parts of the country/world vary in bits. Hope that helps. Oh I see your dad has some differing thoughts Laura, hugs as you all work it out.
There are businesses devoted to scouting out nursing homes for you, I can’t remember what the service is called, you could try checking with a local senior services office if you have one, or an attorney that does wills, trusts, etc. and you can tour them at any time. We walked in unannounced to get a real feel as much as possible.
I don’t doubt that there are great employees at nursing homes, it just wasn’t our experience. We went from private care with one person (the abuse/drugs was here, hired by sil and left unsupervised), to several private care companies in the home (several great employees but unfortunately they don’t stick around so we got the dregs), to the nh. I’m just glad that’s all over now. It’s hard in every way. I feel for everyone having to deal with it.
Gma, your mom’s day and your evening both sound lovely!
Doggedly, the Greek festival sounds fun!
Helia, yikes on the Lyme disease! Is that from deer ticks? Glad you got a dx and can mend now.
My one errand and breakfast ended up being all day. As usual. We ate breakfast, picked up auction winnings, went to a habitat store for diner table and chairs, yay they still had them, ended up lugging them to Hollywood since we can’t store them at our house, had to get turkey and dog feed, pizza for supper, we spent most of the day driving around, 2 states, 4 counties, lots of back roads. It was a pretty day to get out and about. I feel fall coming! It was a little cooler this am, maybe because it was overcast, and then the sun came out with a light breeze.
Good night. Sweet dreams.
