Thanks Lilac for posting that! I'm sure that's the case - they (the checks) are all neatly stacked or filed in her apt. and probably labeled clearly. I'll let the admins. decide how to handle it with DNiece, who is probably overwhelmed right now with responsibilities. Didn't MT say she was selling and buying a house right now? Yikes - bless her heart for being a wonderful support to Indiana these last few months.

I've had a restless day myself. I puttered around this morning with little things then dh and I went to W-M for groceries and dog food. On the way home we stopped at another local grocery chain where they had beef and pork roasts buy one get two free. We ended up with a full trunk. Our pantry was kind of empty!

Nancy, I liked the link to the graham crackers.

Growing up we always ate soda crackers with soup. I put a smear of margarine on mine, dh crumbles his into the soup. My dmom told me when she was a toddler her dgfather would put sugar on a slice of bread, pour tea over it and feed it to her with a spoon.

Dee, I liked reading the 5 & 10 website. Reminds me of the 5 & 10 we shopped in when I was growing up.

Harmony was right about our phone calls. We call each other once a month or so, but then talk for more than an hour!

I know I will miss Indiana's presence here. She is a wonderful person who shared freely knowledge she had.
Thank you Kathryn and other mods for all the work you are doing to keep our village going. As others have said this is a very special group of women and I am happy to know you all and be a part of it.

I think I need to get a bite of supper - I feel like I could get a headache.

We had our supper and watched another episode of Monk. I caught a familiar name in the credits so we had to go back and watch the murder again. The victim was an actor we used to see every year at the Christmas Pantomimes.

I got the dishwasher running and a load of laundry started. I cleaned the bathrooms earlier today. Once the laundry is in the dryer, I'm going to bed.

Dh took me for a stroll. We'll have to go earlier in the day because we are moving to slowly and mosquitoes are awful. We went twice as far today as yesterday.

Good evening everyone. Gosh I am sorry to hear about Indiana. Condolences go out to the whole board.

I have been filling out an application for the job interview I have Thursday. I have two certifications that I need to look up the dates of award. Last night I paid bills and updated Quicken. I did not balance the checkbook and won't tonight because it is art class night. I probably won't tomorrow because I am going to a movie and dinner with a friend. The bank shows i have $2k more than I expect, something must not have cleared, but I don't know what. I also contacted a recruiter, but have not heard back, i did leave a message. Last night, I fixed lunch for today, forgetting it was thursday and lunch with friends day. Oh well, I don't have to do anything for tomorrow then. I need to do more job search stuff. I have been really lazy lately, getting to work about 1015 am.

This weekend, I have my Saturday planned, lunch and crafts with a friend. But Sunday is a yawning vacancy because I thought I would have DD10. However, XDH wanted her this weekend and me to have her next weekend, so he can put in tile. Tiling is very boring for a 10 year old.

I am heading out now for dinner at Cracker Barrel, then to finish a picture of a comet. I am going to hang it in my garage near the 1961 Comet, which one day will be restored to something approximating its former glory.

We got the hen pen roof up and secure for now. A bit more needs to be done but SO glad feels like we are over the hump and this is the hardest part.

Tonight h. is helping with upkeep at the grounds on the church property.

I'm considering a walk now very seriously I must admit maybe a short one. Toying with the idea of turkeys again!

Dh is taking a day of vacation tomorrow. He needs to change the oil in his travel motorcyle. Him and a bunch of guys from work are planning a day trip on Saturday. They are forecasting rain. Dh says he won't go if it is raining at the departure time.

Dh has been working on his garage. He is painting a 3 ft section all the way around the garage, a H arley D avidson shade of orange. The top 2 ft is white, then the orange, then 10 inches of black. The bottom section he is putting a wainscoating of a silver metal. I think it will be metal roof material but there are several options. He has bought a new work bench, 3 silver metal hanging shelves and a rolling metal tall cabinet that matches them. He has black pegboard to hang on the walls also. Then he is planning to get a fancy floor covering for the garage. Yes, he is anal but I humor him. He has quite the setup out there. It is heated plus he has a swamp cooler. He has a full size fridge and a TV with cable. His reasoning for doing the garage first is that he needs to do it so he can unpack all his tools, etc. Dsonil had put in 2 6 ft. sets of heavy duty metal shelves that he connected. Dh has everything boxed up and on them, until he is finished with his masterpiece. I found some Harley material on ebay and bought it so that I can make him a curtain for his garage window.

I better quit blabbing and get the dishes done, so I can head to bed...............

Lucylee - Is your DH watching the Braves game? I'm cheering for my Giants! But the game is not over - so I will hold down my cheers til later.

Kept busy today with paper tasks. Thinking about Jake and know he misses Indiana too. Hopefully a kind, loving family will take him and he will light up their life with his personality.

Feeling blue this evening, thinking of Indi. It is comforting to visit our village & be amongst all of you.

So thankful to all of the mods & admins who run & maintain this site for all of us, giving so freely of their time & expertise. It is so appreciated!

A special thank you to you, MT, for always keeping us updated on Indi whenever she was ill over the years. It really gave me peace of mind.

Dee, I can only imagine the horrible mess of an exploding watermelon! So sorry you have the extra work of having to clean it up. Thanks for the Vidler's link -- I could spend hours in a store like that.

Lilac, you are so right about the caring friendships we have formed here. I was thinking about that yesterday. I'm so sad about Indi's passing, so happy to have shared a friendship with her, yet we only knew each other through this forum.

I like cornbread, Twins, but have never had it mixed with milk. I'll have to remember to try that next time I make cornbread.

About the checks we sent Indi -- on 7-31 I also PMed her & she replied that she was taking them all to the bank that week. Not sure if she ever got there. I'll know when bank statement comes at the end of the month.

Down the road, would it be possible to have a permanent link on this site (that won’t scroll away as time passes) with a picture of Indi’s cardfile avatar, her red name & her signature line? (Maybe even Hugh's avatar nearby? Remember how cute his was?)Would we also have space to copy the recipes from her recipe site & put them in there, too? Not sure how long that site will be up. She was such a light to all of us & I would love to have a part of her here with us always in some way.
