(no offence on the rats comment - individually adorable of course
Harriet, I missed the rats comment. . . . :?: Did I make it? Did you make it?

We have mice in our house every winter; it is a 55? year old house in a heavily wooded neighborhood. I think Lily has helped keep the population down, but we will still set traps. Dh likes the simple old-fashioned kind; if the mouse is positioned correctly, death is instant. If not. . . well, the mouse dies pretty quickly anyway.

One of our animals has been killing chipmunks; I found Pepper playing with one that was barely alive on Monday. Then, this afternoon, there was a dead one on our front porch. Both of them were caked in mud. :?: Maybe that is Lily's work; maybe she was playing with them and thus rolling them around in the dirt? Pepper has not historically killed any animals, but she has shown greater interest in the wildlife this year than she ever has before. If anything, I bet Pepper would try to "play" with a wild animal. . .Anyhow, we have a dead chipmunk mystery here. I hope no more show up.
