Reposting this post from Lilac that she posted an hour or two ago after a visit to the ER. It was in Wednesday and I'm sure she meant it to be here.


From Lilac:

The RX the dr. gave me yesterday for a sulpher drug. It needed to be taken exactly 12 hours apart. I was going to take it last night but then decided to wait until morning. I took it as prescribed and started having d...... and severe nausea. I couldn't lay down and had to sit still. UGH! I called the clinic and my dr. is off today, so they would have anothers drs. nurse call me. By noon, I was short of breath, splotches on my arms and stomach and my mouth was tingling. My mouth will do that when my bs was low. I had checked it and it was fine. I called dd1 and she told me to call the pharmacist and do what he says. He told me to take 2 Benedryl and go to the ER, so I did. After 2+ hours I am home and can breathe. They gave a steroid type shot in the hip. Didn't feel the needle but what it had in it went straight down my right leg, which is the side of the injection. Wow, if my 4 daily injections of insulin felt like that, I know I couldn't do it.

Harriet, Thanks so much for reposting from Lilac! :!:It's very nice and helpful of you to keep us informed, in case we'd glossed over it earlier and did not know. I hadn't known.

Later afternoon-evening, so far, ta da:

- got out a.m. clothes x
- stopped feeding Bert & Ernie twice, clothes/towels are away x
- planned out my dinner x
- put out hot spots x
doing edging on grson's afghan
will write a.m. to do list
will try to answer 1 - 2 letters
want to write DH a grocery list
need to read
watched a Christmas movie based on a Debbie Macomber book called, "Trading Christmas". DH watched it with me and every time he sees me watching a Debbie Macomber book-based movie he says, "You won't need to buy this book either!" The Cedar Cove series will be on Hallmark in 2013 and I think I counted 25 Cedar Cove books on-line at a book site, so now I won't need to buy and read them all! I'll just watch the series!

Next time there is noise like that call the non- emergency police number
And report the noise. Here there is a noise ordiance. Both times cement mixers appeared at 4:30am to avoid the heat. They set up lights to see what they were doing and it looked like a football field at night.

Calling the builders usually doesn't help until after you report the noise to the police. The police will come out and issue a citation for disturbing the peace and that usually gets every ones attention, especially the builders cause they are notified as well.

There are laws on the books in your town that will tell you what are the times construction can work. I found the noise ordinance info listed on my home town site. You might share this with your neighbor.

Lilac...hope you're feeling better. I came within 15 minutes of dying when I was a kid from the very same drug. I was lucky my dr lived and work up the street from me. My mom called him and he made a house call. I would never have made it to the hospital alive.

Sadie...so sorry you lost your kitty. Sounds like she lived in a very loving and happy home.

helia, sure hope the credit card charge is valid. We've had that a couple times and they always just close the account and send us new cards with different numbers on them.

Blessed, thank you for sharing the video. I sat here with goose bumps listening. Can you imagine what you'd think if you were in that food court when that happened? And the music was absolutely beautiful, and I have to think even in a place where the acoustics were probably lousy.

(Harriet) do you think your DDad would tolerate an aide coming in to help sometimes? Just to give you a break?

Today was really something. We did another truck shuffle tonight; I got dinner/dishes done and made tomorrow's lunches. Folded one LOL, one's in the basket, I brought one in from outside that's still on hangers; got sheets out of dryer and remade bed. Did a bunch of paperwork. I never really stopped all day. That's a few busy days in a row, yay for me I was able to do all that.

Going to go sew for an hour.

Harriet, I guess I was a little confused, huh?

When I got home I called the drs. office because the nurse had called and not left a message. I explained that I had been to the ER, etc. and that the ER dr. had given me a RX. I requested her to call me back though and she didn't. Dd1 came by and picked up the written RX and took it in for me and went back later to pick it up. Lo and behold, there were 2, 1 from the ER dr. and 1 from the drs. office. DD1 and the pharmacist got into a discussion on this episode. He asked how I was doing. She told him that I had called her at a bad time so she had had me call him. So he decided that I should take the Cipro that the ER dr. had prescribed. When she brought the RX back, she asked to see where they had given it. When she seen where it was, she told me that she was positive the nurse hit my sciatic nerve. I believe it, because the pain was unbelievable for about 15 minutes. I had tried to stand up and couldn't put weight on my right leg. They were suppose to check on me in 15 minutes but they didn't and I fell asleep until she came in to dismiss me. I had my hair cut yesterday and it was sticking straight out in every direction, like I had put my finger in an electrical socket. Anyone that knows me, knows that I don't leave home looking like a wild women unless it is urgent. I didn't even realize it until I came back home.

I am drinking lots of water.......

(((Lilac))) glad you are home safe now and hopefully on the mend.

We watched the movie and the extras so that took almost 2.5 hours. I've got the kitchen cleaned up and dh and I got the garbage and recycle out to the curb.

Now to try my hand at some writing.

Twins, do you still sew? Somehow, I'm not surprised you have that skill too. How annoying about the truck and the noise. It sounds like others here have given good input.

Others of you I'm missing. . .

Dh called me; the CC charges were his, one via his secretary. She called in a charge to a professional organization based in New York, NY the same day dh made a charge in Houston, TX, where he currently is. We each have a card for this account, so this isn't even out of the realm of possibilities, even without the possibility of a phone call. Still, I like that this card company is vigilant; this is not the first time this has happened. I have unblocked the card. All is well.

I'm going to veg and try to go to bed early-ish.

(((Sadie))) I am so sorry about Feisty. It is always so hard to lose a pet.

Ivy, my dm has had at least 2 detached retinas, (same eye) and other eye procedures. So I have been interested in your eye experiences.

Harriet, I hope the day has improved somewhat for your ddad.

Helia, I am so impressed with your dd14s ability to sew. My dds are 5 years and were 5 grades apart. My youngest dd went out of her way to be different than dd1. It wasn't that she wasn't proud of her dsis, she just didn't want to be compared to her.

Dgd19mos finally let her mom put her hair in pigtails this morning. She looks so cute. Dd2 posted a picture on her FB page with the 2 little girls and their pigtails.

The ER has a room with 4 beds and curtains separating them. The other 2 beds had people with kidney stones! One man had several large on one side and 1 on the other side. They were taking him to surgery to put a stent in. I wondered if that is what he was expecting when he went in. The other was an older lady and she had had problems for 2 weeks but was trying to live them because she has no insurance.

When I talked to dhs dsis yesterday, she told me that her dh passes kidney stones often and he has bleeding. He has pain killers if needed. He has MS and is diabetic so they don't want him suffering needlessly.

I am going to have to watch my dairy and calcium rich foods/juices while on the Cipro. They diminish the effect, if used. Can't have that!
