MT - yep you earned it

ERGH!!! So I cleaned and oiled the sewing machine and then noticed that the stitches were not picking up right. Adjusted the tension (multiple times), adjusted the needle height (multiple times), replaced the needle (once), googled and googled and googled... finely pulled all the thread of the bobbin and re-threaded everything, now it works fine. Oh and during my struggles as I was finally pulling the thread off the bobbin DS13 came down and asked me to fix his Z key as it had popped off and he couldn't get it back on... that only took 5 minutes (I love IT).

Next up start sewing! But fist a coke, a smoke, and a smile!

It is a big cut pay, but I will be getting mileage! I am so excited!

Congratulations scattered!

I have a roast and a stew sharing space in my oven. Both are from the Starving Students Cookbook and one takes 2 hours and the other 3. I have also done the prep work for the cube steak. I will put it in the crock pot tomorrow. I have cleaned up from cooking except for the stovetop, which is still too hot from the cube steak. I have a microwaveable chicken pot pie about to come out. Now I will be able to eat home cooked again. I should probably make more rice too, DD can always be counted on to deplete my supply.

I am going to eat and read a novel. Then I will probably crochet and watch a mindless video. LOL is ready to be flipped.

I fed the cats as soon as I got in and even petted the foster cat in the closet, but she didn't come out. I guess my idea on how to get her out was a flop. When I turn on the dryer, she will definitely stay hidden. It makes enough noise to wake the dead and all the cats flee from it.

Congratulations to Helia DD's for their A's!! (and to awesome parents who are raising them well)

DMom called and was in a semi-panic because DDad lost his phone. When DDad and DMom are in separate rooms in their home, DDad uses his cell phone to call DMom on her cell phone when DDad can't get his breathe, sooo it is VITAL that he has it at all times. i took LO with me to look for it. We didn't know it at the time, but the volume had been turned off so calling DDads phone didn't help in locating it. The phone was finally found in DDad's robe pocket which he almost never wears, but he did this morning since DMom went for early blood work and threw his routine off. ANYway, I turned the volume back up and deleted the 24 missed phone calls that had been placed to it while we searched for it. All is well.

We picked up DGS15 and he went with us this evening. We visited DNephew/DNeice and their new baby boy. MUCH HAPPINESS and JOY!! Then we all ate together before taking DGS15 back home.

Time to finish bedtime routine done. *POOF*

Thank you all for your kind words. Congratulations are also in order for Harriet and HRH for likewise raising an accomplished young lady in dd14 -- and their other children too. It seems to me that so many of us have raised wonderful, responsible, caring, accomplished young people. That is awesome that ds13 is looking ahead, scattered. Not a common trait in young teens. I wish my dd14 and Harriet's dd14 could meet irl sometime. I could be wrong, but I suspect they would get along quite well. . . .

Dinner guests came and have gone home. The 2 extra guests did not show up after all, so there was just 8 of us. Food was good - I provided pulled pork and buns, sweet potatoes, and a salad. Dfriend A brought green beans cooked an Asian way -- so yummy! This was our first time since September to see dfriend K, the physics prof, who has spent the fall out of town at: Princeton, Colo., Switzerland (she goes to the CERN atom smasher periodically for her research -- Elizabeth might know something about that), Israel, Berkeley -- and I don't know where else. No, she did not teach this semester.

I walked during dd14's lesson so that felt good to get exercise in 2 days in a row.

I'm going to try to limit my time with you wonderful ladies tomorrow; it really eats up my time. Sometimes, I stop by and look without posting. There are some things I'd really like to get done.

I'm going to veg with my book and maybe knitting for a while. Girls are working on homework. Dh is working. G'night all!!

Lynlee, what is A5 ? I also find calendars I've bought in the past.

helia, I predict they would abandon us and go off to talk creativity, which would probably suit us fine since we would be chatting up a storm. It would delight me to have dd interact with someone her own age who is enjoying sewing. She did enjoy it very much, then discovered sketching and never put the pencil or stylus down again! She may gravitate to it again, of course.

Dee did not post today - just hoping all is well.

Extra load of laundry for my ddad.
Put away lights box and ornaments box, so space freed up as I decorate mantel in the morning.
Flipped the kitchen wall hanging so it's on the Santa side. Other decor won't be that quick!

Tomorrow is possible date for delivery of 9 gifts I've purchased online (all different, just saved up for free shipping). I hope it does arrive, as it will be great impetus to hurry and finish decorating. Gift wrapping is my favorite thing.
Must look at the house with an eye toward company since this will be a prime weekend for drop-in guests.

Back from the party. It was good to see the neighbours again. Once winter comes, people hibernate here so you don't see people as often. Plus we missed the summer party.

There will be another, 'girls only' party on the 23rd so I'll see more people then. Found out the minister I'm subbing for on the 30th is also going to Nashville in the spring and taking her husband so my dh will have someone to hang out with while I'm off at the preaching conference. This minister's daughter lives in my neighbourhood and I'm friends with both her mother and her dmil since I work with both of them at Presbytery.

(Not sure if I mentioned I am going to you guys. One of the ministers I went to Atlanta with last spring asked me at Presbytery if I was going and said I really should come along since we had so much fun last time. That made me feel part of the group so I decided to go again. The preachers lined up for this year are amazing so I'm really excited.)

The garbage is out to the road so I'm heading off to bed now. Had a second soda today (one in the late morning to get me through until nap and another at dinner to keep me going through the party.) So I'm pretty wired. I did manage almost 12,000 steps today so I've been active all day.

Wasn't Dee going to take dd away on a some sort of escape today? Maybe it was another day? I have been cuop sooo sporadically... skimming and rushing and probably missing all sorts of things I wish I knew... but good gracious my days are getting away from me! I do think of Dee and all the concerns they have right now... and I just can't imagine what their days must be like!

Back from the memorial ceremonies. Dgs behaved pretty well. He & I just watched from the car @ the outdoor hospital thing... and then dh had to take him out for a little walk in the lobby during the funeral home chapel service... but he fell asleep @ the restaurant and we all had a very nice meal together.
Got dmil settled back at home and FINALLY... we are home ourselves.

And tomorrow is FRIDAY!!! Woo hoo for THAT!!!

Lucylee - I think your right about Dee, glad the Memorial Service went well.

Thanks for all the congratulations, I am so excited. Obviously HP has a plan for me, my job is to stay out of the way.

Managed to get the pockets done and sewn on, also got the hood stitched together. Was about to sew in the zipper (DAunt/BFF's suggestion) when I discovered that the zippers I have are not the kind that separate. Will pick up zippers in the morning when I have to take the paperwork to the college.
