Twins - Arghh re: SSI lack of help. DBro recently called SS for an appt to apply for SS disability. The earliest appt available is 3 months away.

** DH is home and the groceries unloaded, meat repackaged into individual meal size and everything else mostly put away.
** Lunch served/cleaned up
** LO down for an nap
** 338 transactions processed so far today

H. is home they did not work but the boss gave every one a bottle of bubbly for those that did not drink they got sparkling cider and a 2013 glass and horn to toot at midnight.

Lunch and after lunch clean up is done.
Can't go to the building supply place b/c they are closed for inventory.

Made more progress. Emptied the garbage cans, watered the plants, did some mending (including both my new bath robe and my new mittens!) and finished the kitchen chores. The house is starting to feel under control as long as I stay in these rooms!

Still to do:

* Strip and remake guest bed
* strip and unmake basement bed (an inflatable bed)
* Vacuum and dust bedroom level
* vacuum under dining table
* electric broom lower main floor
* tidy living room
* freeze meat
* swish guest bathrooms (did mine already)
* Update Quicken
* do payroll
* do two loads of laundry

Dh should be home in about 30 minutes. Perhaps I should nap until he gets here since I haven't napped yet. I have managed to watch 3 episodes of Downton Abbey, Season 2.

Took dd to opthamologist. Turned out she's now scheduled for eye surgery mid-January. She'll have to miss a week of work. He said 4 days out and when he found out she teaches technology, he decided a week -only that will be MLK Day so she'll have a full week. So we might be able to at least go to lunch that week.

Picked up gd and she's moody, of course. We stopped to pick up a few groceries and of course I got no help loading them (dd was still in the store). I didn't say anything but dd did ask her if she helped and so she was mad at me. But, I didn't tell dd anything, actually. We have cleaned and dd cleaned gd's bathroom really well. We'll see if that lasts till tomorrow afternoon.

Finally a little after 3, I tried calling dd2, 3 different times to see what they found out and she didn't answer. Dd1 said she had talked to her dh and he knew the procedure was over but of course didn't know the results. Dd1 finally texted dd2 and she said they didn't find anything, were dismissing her and her and the kids were on their way to get her. Dd2 finally called me with somewhat of an attitude. Of course, her ex couldn't take dgd16 home because his wife never, ever wants to see dd2s house. So dd2 told him to call when they were ready to dismiss her. He called, she loaded up the kids and when they got to the hospital, he said we are waiting on a prescription. They can take quite awhile with that. So I don't blame her for having an attitude, but it's not my fault. When we hung up, she grumpily said I love you too. The RX is for IBS. Yikes!

d okay - you are so nice!!!

Harriet - He did act incensed yet he let me do it. He doesn't like to admit it (especially around other kids) but he likes me to mess with his hair because when he was a baby I would play with his curls as he breast fed. It is still rather dry but better than it was.

Lilac - Don't feel bad and I am glad they let her go home, I hope she feels better soon.

INE called me this evening and she is having a shingles flare up and not feeling well.

I seriously doubt I am going to make it to midnight, I am bushed. The gyro's ended up being rather dry so I called DUncle who is a Chef and he suggested using the leftovers to make strogganoff, so I think I will try that. Then I am going to watch a little TV and head to bed.

Dee - what kind of eye surgery is DD having?

Lilac - I'm glad DGD16 is able to go home. Hopefully she will recover quickly.

DH was able to obtain parts and is working on MPB repairs. I always pray him through these times....working alone in equipment room with so many moving parts and high pressure equipment. Some people party on New Year Eve.....some people work. I guess we are in the later category.

LO is building big structures with Lincoln logs. I think it might be time to find more. Hum......maybe create a craigslist search for them.

Fresh coffee made and thermos refilled so I guess my break is over.....back to the paperwork effort....

Aghhhh! Before I hit submit on the above post, the phone rang and I knocked over my thermos of coffee and spilled hot coffee everywhere.

OKay, it sounds like LO is learning how to do things for himself, even without the cards. I guess I was asking because I think a lot about how lax I was with my DGirls. I did not establish any routines with them. I did ask for help sometimes, but if they didn't respond I just did it all myself. I didn't have any reinforcing help from their father, so I didn't fight it, I just worked like a dog. DD1 has a more organized nature and she's doing ok. DD2 is more spontaneous, and she also has the busiest schedule, and she struggles with everything. I guess I feel guilty that I did not give her the tools she needed. If I only could go back. Hindsight, ya know.

DH was in "project" mode, so my paperwork challenges came to a halt while I helped him. He brought home a long grab bar for our shower. I helped him attach it, which meant cleaning out a big closet on the other side of the shower. He is being proactive; I have heard him say that his hip is "progressing". It is sad to me that we are on this "path" so soon...and after a lifetime of hard work we go into our retirement years impaired.

I also helped him with a repair in his truck, where he was underneath the dashboard attaching something, and I handed tools, held the light, etc. He also replaced the toilet bolts in our cheapest toilet. They rusted cause they were brass coated, not all brass; and the tank was leaking onto the floor.

So we've had dinner and I'm back working on figures. I fixed the 4 sheets, and have one more to print up. I'm getting closer to DONE!

Dee, did you see my post a couple days ago about DH's eye surgery?

Oh, I almost forgot, I wanted to say Happy New Year to Lynlee, who has already been in the new year!

I posted and then deleted. Dh and dd at odds, me and dh at odds about the evening plans.
