I finally told DH about "The Closure," who was the Yankees closing pitcher until retirement in 2013. He was a son of a Panamanian fisherman, didn't speak English, had a girlfriend & didn't know what to do about his future, except to become a car mechanic. The Yankee's scout discovered him, he went to NY, was their closer for years. Now, he and his wife live in NY with 3 children. He's a Christian, is very faithful & the book shows how his faith got him through his struggles. This closer pitcher's name is Mariano Rivera & he wrote the book with Wayne Coffee. DH was upset that I'd told him the surprise, but just came into my office, planted a big wet kiss on me, & thanked me for the book. ♥ ♥ So all is well again.

I did 90 min. of pre-Conga day work today. I'll set my timer for 1 hour, trying to finish up my Conga tomorrow. Being as it's a holiday weekend, I'd like to write, crochet, read, do letters, & enjoy the holiday.

Kathryn, I hope the other folks sell their house. It sounds fair on the septic, although expensive, but at least it'll be done.

Lucylee, How's your Dmom doing since her colonoscopy? I hope she's back to normal by now. Thanks for commenting on my completed tasks, too.

I made a couple of weekend "to do" lists, since I did Thurs. & Fri.'s on Wed. night. It's nice to work ahead sometimes, crossing items off the list a day ahead of time. Is that nuts?

Elizabeth's Own Maid Service got the LOL running all right. Running right out the back or out the hose or out SOMEWHERE!!! That's right, I am not sure if this is a job for Elizabeth's Own Plumbing or EO Appliance Repair. In addition to the water on the laundry room floor, I had to push start the rinse cycle. I will be calling the plumbing division, because I must get the master bathtub unclogged again.

I will send out another resume, then indulge in either a Blue Hawaiian or a glass of wine. Probably the latter, because the former actually requires effort to fix.

Harriet: I will be putting something in AC&N when I get it beyond the design stage. So far it is only sketchwork.

Elizabeth, I'm not familiar with what a Blue Hawaiian is, except it sounds like a Smurf from Hawaii. I'm familiar with wine & after a post like yours, I'd be reaching for a wine glass, too! So sorry about the plumbing problems, but I have to give it to you how you're still putting in those resumes! WTG! Hang in there. Don't let the water getcha down!

Ivy -- sorry if I discouraged you from Gone Girl. It definitely is a page-turner and full of surprises; it's a fascinating, can't-put-it-down kind of story... but the language is pretty rough, and as I said... the ending is just... sorta anti-climatic and disappointing. That is my honest opinion. But like I said also, I may read her other books. She has two more sorta dark mysteries, also.

The Closer does sound good! I read an article about him in one of the Sunday newspaper magazines recently.

Dmom is doing very well. I'm anxious for her to get the results from all this, but she seems to be feeling fine. When I took meds to her, she was all dressed nice, make-up on, hair fixed. Sooo good to see her looking like herself again. My mom was a beautiful, beautiful young woman... tall, thin, dark hair, dark eyes... and she has always looked much younger than her years -- UNTIL ddad passed away. Since then, she's just kinda given in to all her troubles and let herself go most of the time. She's still tall, thin, salt-pepper hair... but she is showing the strain and exhaustion of the past few years.

Settling down... may be too rushed to post in the morning. And if my server is blocked on the road... well... I'll be checking in on y'all and I'll "see" you Monday! Have a great weekend!
