We are in our hotel, by the grace of God, and dh says we are not leaving till we feel better -- which may be March, to quote dh. He is REALLY miserable. I still don't think I have fever but he definitely thinks he does. However -- the hotel is REALLY nice -- waaay too expensive, but right at this moment it is worth every penny.

Talked to dbro and ds -- and did I tell y'all I talked to dmom? She called this afternoon to see if we were still in FL! We just left YESTERDAY and the game isn't until Thurs. that's how sick SHE is. And my aunts can't help her bc everyone in our family apparently has the flu. I feel terrible about it but she said I couldn't just stay home all the time just incase she got sick. She has a doctors appt tomorrow and I certainly hope she is able to make it.

We should be home Sat night, and ds/ddil will be coming home Friday.

Sorry to be such a downer tonight.
Tomorrow is another day.

Hello, villagers ~
Today I worked on year-end financial reports and ran several errands in The Big City.

This evening I've been slaving away on figuring out a 2015 budget for the sewing group. I wish I had any confidence that it won't be a total waste of several hours of work, but after the experience last year ...

Tomorrow morning after breakfast I will jump in the car and drive an hour and a half north to the cemetary where DNiece is buried. DSis is planning to release balloons or a paper lantern or something for the 3rd anniversary of K's death, and then some of the group will be going out to lunch.

I am trying to decide how many layers of clothes I will have to wear because we'll be standing outside for a very long time. I'm glad I finally found & bought some nice warm mittens! Right now I'm thinking about wearing the trousers that are a size too large so I can wear heavy tights or leggings underneath.

I am very grateful that so far neither DH nor I have come down with the traditional after-family-holiday-parties virus. Tomorrow will be 1 more chance for me to catch the out-of-town germs, since I will be hugging more people. Must remember to drink Emergen-C before I go and see what else I have on hand for preventative measures.

I don't know how long I'll be up there this time. Every family visit we've made recently has lasted a lot longer than planned -- not a complaint, just a realization that I shouldn't expect to do anything else tomorrow. We never go out on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day, so as long as I have meals planned I won't have any other deadlines.

That is, no deadlines other than getting back to the number crunching. If I finish this budget first draft tonight (while I'm waiting on a load of clothes in the dryer) and email it to the new sewing group president, then I won't have to look at it again for a few days. That's the plan!

PS: responding to Harriet's hint earlier today
Expect BookSaver's brilliant thoughts on January in a new monthly thread there soon. :D
Who, me? :? :?: Um, ok ... I'll see what pops into my head in the car tomorrow during the long drives. :)

Thanks, BookSaver! Dh is asleep and I'm not really sleepy yet, so I'm just whining to anyone who will listen, I guess. Thanks for being there/here.
Tomorrow is another day.

lucylee, you just reminded me that the only thing worse than being sick, is being sick while out of town. Take care of yourselves.

Today I thought about getting out the ornament containers and start taking ornaments off the tree. I decided to leave that project alone and work on laundry.

I showered, did makeup and hair plus put clothes on instead of pjs. It felt so nice to look better than what I had been seeing in that mirror.

Around 7, I went to the grocery store and picked up a few items. Dd2 and dgd18 were there picking up snacks, etc. for New Year's Eve.

Dh had came home about 3. He just looks terrible. He was sitting in his recliner, covered with 2 blankets and had an electric tower heater pointed at him at 83 degrees. Finally he wanted something to eat and seemed to perk up a little after that. Until today, he had pretty much been on his own. If he is sick and I'm not, he gets really good care. Now I feel like taking care of him. I had some of the symptoms he has had that makes me feel like I had a lot lighter case of an influenza strain, than what he has been hit with.

I am rather annoyed at dd2. She keeps making a big deal of why I have been so sick. She just can't seem to wrap her mind around the fact that as a diabetic, I get hit harder with a cold and it seems to take forever to get back to normal. Then she commented that it seemed like I brought all this food over, stayed for 2 hours and then left it. As I was leaving Christmas night, she commented that I needed to come back the next day and take some of the food home. By then I was feeling really crummy and that food was the least of my worries. I told her I didn't want to see that food again. So her take on that was that I had made myself sick making all that food. I never felt like that, plus I just prepared the food I had planned before I got sick. She can be such a pain. For instance, tonight she called to see when the walk-in clinic opens and should she go, because now she feels like someone is sitting on her chest. I told that she might have bronchitis and does need to go. I get really irritated when she compares how she feels, to how you feel. Everyone is different and I learned a long time ago to not worry about who feels the worst. It is not a contest I want to win.

helia, your dd19 is probably right about the carpet stains. Our carpet can be professionally cleaned to look like new, then slowly the stains come back. This carpet will be replaced after we start and finish the main upstairs bath.

Dh had intended to be done with everything by April 30. The way his health has been the last 3 months, I am not holding my breath, that it will happen.

I am such a fanatic about shoveling my drive when there is snow on it. This morning dh told me not to shovel, or I would end up with pneumonia. I didn't realize he thought I lacked enough sense to reach that conclusion on my own. I told him there was no way I would be shoveling. Later he called to make sure I hadn't shoveled. Dd2 told me that if her dh brings his skidsteer to town to clean their drive, she would send him down to do ours. That would be nice, but guess what? I am not worried about a snow covered driveway.

I didn't turn on my laptop until 9:35 p.m. and I've gone 11,094 steps so far.

Didn't make it to the DMV because woke up not feeling well. Now that I've been fine all day, my sore throat's returning. At least the muscle aches and other "things" went away. :)

Omaha Meats called today, to let us know when their cooler pkg. will be delivered in the New Year, from Dson/Ddil. 8-) :P

Won't be submitting any April stories by the January deadline, as my colonoscopy is the day prior to the deadline. I don't have enough time, on top of other priorities, to do stories, too. Instead, I'll focus on ideas/outlines, for May stories, due in Feb., sometime. :) I've sold well, for the 2015 issues, for Jan. - March, so being absent for the April issue will give others a chance. I sold 4 in Jan., 2 in Feb. and 3 in March. I think it'll be nice to enjoy a mini-vacation. :P I have other projects to work on, a book I want to read, things to make for gifts, and work on pre-spring cleaning.

Have a great New Year's Eve, Everybody! :D
