Too much food noise going on in my brain. I figure I must be addicted to carbs and sugar, so am taking the approach that alcoholics do with alcohol.

So every time I reach for something I shouldn’t be eating I think about what a recovering alcoholic would do. If they can sit at a bar and drink sparkling water while everybody else is enjoying their beverage, I can learn to eat my food when I cook differently for Sweetie.

Sometimes I need to go minute to minute, sometimes hour to hour. The cravings are real and I am really trying to think about what I’m doing and how I can overcome the wants for carbs and sugar.

I am also taking time to see what’s going on emotionally when I want to grab something that I shouldn’t. I’m only on day four, but it seems to be helping me. Doesn’t help when you watch TV and they throw up all the food commercials that seems to be a trigger as well.

I have fallen off the wagon altogether on my stretching goal for July. My left hip was screaming last night after I laid in one position for awhile. Of course, driving home yesterday and driving to HHI on Sunday doesn't help my hips or back either. I need to list the stretches I am doing to keep them in my mind too.

LadyM, I know I am not getting enough protein.

Of course, right now my mind is so crowded with stuff. I've been writing down everything that flies into my head as an OMM (on my mind) need to take care of item.

WTG with successful test results, Laura! It must be very difficult to get consistency in routines with all that's going on in your life ATM, so please don't best yourself up over it. As you said, now is the time to start over , especially now the worry and stress of that test in particular is off your mind.

Lady M, I'm impressed with all the numbers you produce each day - it show real dedication. Very interesting about carbs - I always thought the complex carbs were important for fibre and gut health? Is that incorrect ? I'm not very knowledgeable about these things.

RRose, I admire your resolution. (Can I say that when many of those adverts for junk food come on the TV, I just think of the additives emulsifiers etc and everything else they use to get it resembling "food")

I bake from scratch most weeks, so we go have homemade cake and sometimes biscuits, (and I know exactly what's gone into them) but I don't buy those items or anything else like crisps or other snacks type stuff, as they very often are stuffed full of unnatural, I healthy ingredients, as well as being far too sweet. . (DH buys his own and take it to the office  ) But it's easy for me to do this - I don't have a houseful of hungry teens , or a husband with a disability. It probably also helps that I'm intolerant to many additives, including artificial sweeteners (rash, tummy issues etc), so I 've learnt to read labels! Chocolate is my downfall, but I e solved it by buying a good quality chocolate with more cocoa and so less sugar. Not only is it more satisfying.so I only need a little bit, but it's a LOT more expensive , so I only buy it in small quantities. One very interesting thing I've noticed since I've dramatically reduced sugar and "junk" in my diet (which often means selecting the full fat version of some products like Greek yogurt, as they're not stuffed full of sugar and other additives) is that although my weight hasn't gone down, everything else like blood test result, blood pressure etc has dramatically improved. Once again though, it's very easy for me to do this - I order the groceries each week- so I get to order the blue berries and Greek yogurt. I dont drink alcohol, or "soft" drinks so that's another potential source of sugar and / or sweetener that doesn't enter my life (DH likes his beer and frequently goes out with his friends, and I'm happy for him, but I have no desire to join in)

Saturday :
I've done my exercises - 12 hearts
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ ❤️❤️
I drank 8 glasses of water yesterday - 8 hearts
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ ❤️❤️❤️

Once again, 8 glasses wasnt really enough, but at least I drank my 8 glasses, so I'm counting it as a win

July habit to focus on =
Enjoy eating a salad. Salad days are the best days!
1⭐2⭐3⭐4⭐5⭐6⭐7⭐8__9⭐10⭐11⭐
Protein 40%
11⭐

Established healthy habits =
⭐Sleep = 7hr 14min average 30 days
⭐Hydration = 120oz+
⭐Cronometer = 372 days logging, 30-day average = 1306 calories, 29% protein
⭐Move my body in July = AM walks=10, Exercises=11, PM walks=4, 30-day average = 5153 steps, 10 hours with 250+ steps,
⭐Better Bedtime routine during July = 5
⭐Declutter & deep clean habit during July = 8
⭐Weight loss is at an average 30-day pace of -.53% resulting in a total 16.13% body weight removed since 7-5-2024

I hit my protein goal yesterday, but it took some effort and careful selection of food and portion size.
I always thought the complex carbs were important for fibre and gut health? Is that incorrect ?
I think you are right. I agree that complex carbs are important for many reasons. I eat complex carbs in vegetable form multiple times every day. I am a gardener and have harvested over 1300 vegetables this year. I grow my favorite vegetables and eat most of what I grow (I do give some away). I focus on eating a variety of vegetables each week (lettuce, cabbage, spinach, beets, green beans, cauliflower, asparagus, tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic). I occasionally add legumes or potatoes to my meals but those are almost impossible to eat if I want to meet my protein % goal.

I don't post fiber count here, but I do track it. My goal is to get 26g of fiber daily and I exceed that target daily. I am at 125% of meeting the fiber goal over the past 30 days.

However, for MY body, I have learned that grain based complex carbs are not good for me. I can eat occasional corn-based products but eating flour and sugar results in dramatic weight gain (water retention?), my fingers swell, and joints become painful. My gut rumbles and gas is constant. I can meet all my vitamin and mineral goals without needing to eat flour & sugar, so they are not needed for that purpose. Eating them bring me nothing but misery & pain.
My family loves everything with flour and sugar so we have many things in the house, and it is bought frequently. Cookies, cakes, multiple types of bread, many dishes of pasta, etc are made each week. I cook them but don't eat them.

I eat clean and prepare my foods as well. Like LadyM, I don’t eat bread or sugar. My body loves them and so does my weight.

I usually eat veggies, chix and fish and sometimes beef, but not very often. Sweetie eats the same way but I always serve him a starch… rice, potato or noodles. I love them but sometimes can be my enemy

I too think about all the junk that is in prepared foods.

I try to eat clean. We don't eat pasta and most baked goods. I eat whole wheat wraps and bread some, and dh always has keto bread, which I do eat some. No soft drinks here, we only purchase for company, and we eat sugar free - dh is diabetic. I do eat some artificial sugar although I think it does leave me craving sugar sometimes. My breakfast this a.m. was omelet - two eggs plus an egg white with an oz of cheese, and about a cup of berries with lowfat greek yogurt.

I do drink alcohol.

Meeting my protein goal yesterday was easier than the day before.

I can't say that I eat clean because I do eat several types of meat that have been processed. One of my current favorites is deli sliced buffalo turkey meat. I make a fresh batch of Pico de Gallo each morning and use it as the filling with buffalo turkey meat as a wrap.

The vegetables I eat are clean. My garden is organic, and I am super careful to protect the soil and never have any type of chemicals or sprays on the vegetable plants.

I am trying to be more conscious of ingredients in meat, but it is a learning process. I found that when I purchase chicken tenderloins the uncooked/frozen meat are injected with up to 12% of other ingredients.
HOWEVER, if I just pay attention I can purchase chicken tenderloins with one ingredient and nothing else added. And if I look a little further, I can find organic Non-GMO selections.

Some food I accept as not being clean and i admit to not seeking a solution/replacement. I love spicy hot links. Are they clean? ABSOLUTELY not. I try to limit how many I eat to just one or two a week.

New low on the weight this a.m., very very slow to lose weight. I'm taking Zepbound, a once a week injection.

So far no stretching habit started. I have a list. Somehow I'm not wanting to do stretches in front of dh, and he's been sitting in his chair almost nonstop. I could stretch upstairs in my workroom, where there is carpet, I suppose.

Oops, yes I do eat deli turkey often, several times a week.

Workout for tomorrow was rescheduled by trainer to Tuesday at two p.m.
