Wow… I am going to HAVE TO start getting here earlier in the day… y’all have been so BUSY…
Happy Canada Day to our
Canadian SHEs…
And
Happy Anniversary to Nancy & DH
And
Happy Birthday to Mr. Dee!!!
Now about that “half-point of the year” and “do you know where your routines are?” Hmmm… Yeah, I’m afraid I know where they are… pretty much ignored at the bottom of a pile of good intentions and wishful thinking.
Harmony, I’m using the silver-blue – I forget the exact name of it – subsilver? – but it has the feature you’re talking about – where you can see threads you have read or not read, go to “first unread post,” etc. I think this is the blue that someone (
Kathryn?) said was driving her crazy, LOL, and I did look at some of the other ones… but in the end I came back to this one b/c it was what I was using before. * Shock* huh? That I wouldn’t want to CHANGE??? Nah… not me… I especially liked the one with the hot air balloon… but in the end, I came back to my old tried & true.
Another LOL –
Lilac, I tried Tara first of all, OF COURSE… but it just seemed too… different? to me.
I do tend to enjoy a rut once I get in it.
Routines... gosh, y'all... I am like a walking advertisement -- make that a
motion-less advertisement -- for accomplishing
NOTHING.
I don't know how to change this crazy schedule we are on. I am open to suggestions...
Keep in mind, we are usually up until 3:00 a.m. I know, I know, this is INSANE. But that being a given, I have to accept that we are living somewhat like shift-workers.
We watch tv till 1:30, and then, since dh realized the morning paper has arrived by that time... so we read the paper.
Okay... 8 hours sleep puts us getting up around 11:00 a.m.
Then... ds wants to come run, usually around 12:00/1:00... and if dh joins us, 2:00 p.m. (b/c he won't walk until Rush L. goes off the radio) so I can't s2s before then, b/c the only way I'm going to get any exercise at all is if I walk with him after his run. And he likes his routine of running 1.5 miles and then walking 3 miles with me. Plus, it is great quality time for us to talk.
So I'm kinda in limbo-land until at least 3:30 p.m.
By the time I've s2s, it's almost 5:00 and that is supper time, usually.
Then... after we eat... well you know how the evening hours go... one kinda loses any momentum they had anyway. It's just ridiculous.
I'm looking at this, and I see I have at least an hour before ds might arrive, so that should be a good time for some focus/zone cleaning attention. It's hard for me to make myself jump right out of bed and get at it like that, but that would probably be a good place to start.
I can't do any vacuuming before 2:00 p.m. b/c of the aforementioned radio program... but there is a LOT of housework to be done that does NOT include vacuuming, right? Just b/c I have it in my head that that is the most important task, that does not mean it is the ONLY task.
Then, if I could force myself to do another hour after supper... that is the only way, right?
I mean, even if I am living like a vampire, I've still got 16 hours in my day.
Minus 2 hours to walk and s2s... be generous, make that 3... that leaves 13 hours.
Even if I spent 3 hours eating meals... that leaves 10 hours.
There is no way I should be so unproductive. If I allowed for 8 hours sleep pre-retirement, I only had six hours in the day, five allowing for supper, and a lot of those hours were spent on school work and elder care. My dmom needs some attention now, but nothing like the time we spent with dmil. So... I've just got to form a new habit to my day. Accomplish what I can before walking, and then force myself to accomplish SOMETHING again in the evening, just like I always had to when I worked.
Another thing about being a sweaty mess until 3 or 4 in the afternoon is that it really pushes a person to conduct business with the public. Like today... I was DETERMINED that I would get out to this little boutique store that does a lot of monogramming. I've been wanting a t-shirt from there, and wanted to get ddil one for her birthday, coming up July 14. They close at 5:00. I got out there before 4:30... but I was rushing.
~~~
And I have another OMM tonight.
Dmom says everyone just assumes that we KNOW we are all invited to dcousin's house for the 4th of July. And she said that daunt casually mentioned this at the dinner following other dcousin's funeral.
Dmom said, "No one has actually INVITED me to this, but I am assuming y'all do want my macaroni & cheese?"
Daunt said, "Of course! You know you are invited!"
Well... I was not present at this conversation and no one has said diddly-squat to me about it. I was also not informed of their Memorial Day gathering, but dmom was, and dmom said she suspected that they all knew we were out of town at the time.
Anyway... I have called daunt TWICE in the last two weeks since dcousin's death... but daunt no longer has caller ID, and apparently does not answer the phone at all anymore, preferring to simply listen to messages and return at her leisure. * sheesh * Both she & my other aunt/uncle have changed phone service and eliminated caller ID and are operating on this system now. Drives me crazy... b/c neither of them have returned my last 3 calls!
I suspect the younger generation, my cousins, rely on text messaging, but I have a text block on my phone. No one can get a text to me, but they have no way of knowing that when they send one. They just think I ignore texts, I guess. (I know this b/c dnephew has mentioned sometimes, "I texted you, did you get that?"
* sigh * AUAAUAUGGGHHH!!!
So? How do I handle 4th of July activities?
