Norma, although I hadn't heard of EPI, I'm thinking maybe taking lipase you'll be able to add fats into meals more easily? I'm so glad you have a correct diagnosis. 6 pounds is terrif!

Ramblin', what will the weather be like in Feb? Great good luck as you train for your event.

LadyM, you would be amused that there is a reverse fist-pump (pulling back with one arm, beside the waist) at the end of most every video Teresa Tapp leads in which she says, "You did it!", complimenting the viewers. The amusing part is that there have been so many admissions that those doing the workouts all do the pump, too. Having followed the movements so carefully, they just continue with congratulating themselves. ( I do it! I'm not going to miss out on that after so much work!)

Harriet - LOVE it!

RR - YGG!! Go for those dreams and adventures!

Our state university is partnering with YMCA to offer a 6 week class on healthy lifestyle. The class fee ($49) includes YMCA membership for the 6 weeks and they wave the typical YMCA registration fee ($50). This is just the opportunity I need to push me into trying the YMCA. It is only a 6 week commitment (Oct 20th - Dec 1st) which should be about right know if I would utilize all the YMCA features. If I do decide to stay with it, then I'll probably transfer LO Karate classes to the YMCA. That alone would pay for the YMCA monthly fee. We pay $85 a month for LO karate classes now at local town, but they are only $30 a month if we start going to YMCA.

Harriet - EPI is where my pancreas can't produce enough enzymes to properly digest my food. Then I have all the ugly symptoms of IBS and all that. I am so hoping these digestion pills will be the answer to my prayers. My wonderful GI doc thinks they will. (I'll let you know later if he is still wonderful.) What is going to be great is that I can eat a meal (small, of course) later than 4 p.m. and not have to sit in a chair or in the bathroom all night. That has been so hard to put up with. When in AZ we always tell Rosie and Sweetie we can't go much past 4 to eat. We do sometimes though and then I am in trouble.

Well Harriet it's hard to tell abt the weather during that time of the year. Since my "wave" time is around noon, I expect it will be i the low 50's. There will be over 7000 people racing by the way.

The goal is to finish the race...not to race the clock although the more serious racers can do that if they are trying to compete for the National race which is by invitation only. My son qualified for the tough Mudders nationals two years ago.

One of the girls that I've become friendly with has done all three levels of the Spartan events. She showed me a pix of her friend who weighed at the time over 400 lbs so I am confident I will be able to do this. Norma is right when she said this has been on my bucket list. I see lots of squats, push ups, planks and sit ups in my near future.

The other night at my combat class I amazed myself by doing 11 real push-ups...on my toes not knees. I wanted to have a starting point and figured it would be like 2. My gazelle has arm handles on it so I must have gained some strength in my upper body without realizing it.

I have asked my son to help me put together a training routine. There is dope climbing involved in several obstacles as well as monkey bars all of course that require upper body strength which I am lacking. Also I have very little hand grip strength... Never had much anyway. My son has participated in over 8 tough Mudders and trained for all. I'm looking at this as a great bonding opportunity with him.

I will post my name in the MO section so you can see my fb page if you are interested. I recently posted pixs of my son doing a Mudders... There are also some pixs of me climbing a 50' rock wall.

On my feet for 5 hours today, walking about 4 miles according to my best guesses on internet map after I got home. Otherwise shopping, enjoying sights, etc. at the Ren Faire. Poor eating choices were a given, but my breakfast at home was pretty good including a small apple, an egg, before leaving. That was about the last sensible bite. Laughed a lot.

Looking at some results.....

What happens when I have 3 GRANDchildren by myself for the day?
** Total steps: 15080
** Floors climbed: 88
I had NO problem falling asleep last night. I was happy but very exhausted. :)

Comparing this past week treadmill effort with the week before shows baby step improvement
** 7 more minutes per day spent on treadmill
** 2 more miles walked this week

I'm happy with my itty bitty consistent progress in exercise.

I'm not happy with my lack of weight loss. I keep bouncing up/down the same 5 lbs.

My Healthy habit focus for this coming week is eating vegetables daily. My goal is 5 servings. I think I achieve this daily but will be tracking vegetables this week to make sure what I "think" is actually reality.
