we picked a habit (or more than one!) that we wanted to really cement in our lives. To keep track of success (or lack thereof!) we would "earn" a star, heart etc (according to personal preference) for each successful day.
Oh! I really like this and want to adopt it in my daily health & fitness focus. Thank you for sharing!
I'm going to pick two habits to focus on because they are similar.
Sunrise mile walk -
Sunset mile walk-
My WHY to focus on these two habits is primarily to increase daily steps. The timing is important in that I love observing nature and the sunrise/ & sunsets are usually spectacular. The additional benefits are an immediate mental boost, and my back & hip pains disappears when I intentionally walk with arms swinging. The mile walk is quick (20 minutes), no equipment needed and doesn't require any mental effort. I am deciding up front that I will give myself a pass if there are storms happening.

Happy to say I had to move my belt over one notch and my ring can now slide off with no problems.
Ate on plan, drank all my liquids and got 14.5K steps in. Checked my steps before I did my walk around in my house and added 2K to the original amount.
Sweetie walks 2 miles every night. I cant walk with him because his stride is so much longer than mine that I have to run to keep up with him. I added more to my home route. I walk as soon as Sweetie goes out the door. Even if I were to walk at night at my own pace the bugs would eat me to death. That would mean I would have to use bug spray which I hate even more than sun screen.
Most of my home has tile and I walk barefooted...an other advantage...and love the cool feel of the tile under my feet.

Oh my, RR, I can't walk barefooted much. I need the support!
I had 8500 steps yesterday, along with a workout. I had a new, younger trainer - considered an intern, still a student, but the owner/trainer is out of town. Was a good workout - perhaps not great but I worked out and was tired. He didn't move me along fast enough, and probably didn't challenge me enough, but I think he's wary of asking too much older people. Don't want us to get hurt, and he needs to get to know us. The other trainer, who knows me well, had an older man - difficult to tell age actually because he seemed frail - they were working on balance and strength. He needed support doing the high knee walk or slow walk that I do for balance.
