I've always been lucylee, and I guess I've been here about 10 years... I think I came out of lurkdom during a summer while ds was out of town for the very first time of any length -- right before his senior year -- and I was really, irrationally, depressed. (I know, y'all can go ahead and laugh... I'm irrational more often than not when it comes to ds, I know...) It was his first major trip w/a girlfriend's family, I think, and that was probably what was getting to me.
Y'all have held my hand through sooo many things... I just can't thank you enough. Our newcomers might not be able to tell it, but some of you KNOW I really have grown up a little tiny bit, don't you think?

Boy... today has been one of those days and a half.
I told dh -- once you hang crepe paper in the hall, the kids think you have announced, "All right, everybody can act a fool now."
* sheesh * I am seriously getting too old for Homecoming.
In additon to all-day last minute correcting of grades, etc... I also spent the first half of the day sending frantic e-mails across the school system, trying to get necessary information re: our Homecoming grand marshals for "press release" to local paper.
At least, that was what I did when I wasn't in the ridiculous meeting where we got about an inch and a half high stack of papers telling us how to align our lesson plans w/the Common Core (national standards)... which we won't really HAVE to do until next year. I amused myself by drawing a picture of Snoopy doing the happy dance for myself & my dfriend who is also retiring.
My goodness, the Lord works in mysterious ways.
A year ago I simply could not even begin to imagine being ready for retirement.

Since I got home, dh & I took clothes to ironing lady, he went to visit dmil, and I stayed home, took a short nap, and have graded papers graded papers graded papers, b/c I am determined to get everything back on track before we leave for our trip. Also had a couple of phone calls to deal with... not bad... just time-consuming. How on earth did it get to be 10:00 pm???
OH -- scattered -- it's not a 3-day week for everyone -- just me! DH and I are going to a music thing w/ds this weekend. And NEXT week, I'm having a 4 day week for myself.

Y'all REALLY make me want to re-do my cards/list/etc... but honestly, my card box, etc., is in pretty good shape... I just cannot find time to do ANY of the STUFF that is ON the cards/list/etc. * sigh *

I shave up, also. Can't imagine going in any other direction...

Oh, I remember that delicate matter of shaving thing, Norma... and that still kinda bugs me... I'm still always very self-conscious when I go to the doctor...
I've never worn sparkles to the doctor, though...

Dmil has always said we are VERY lucky if we can count our true friends on one hand.
And you know what... I don't really have any IRL friend that I would want to share you girls with. Maybe it's just b/c I'm so paranoid. Most of my IRL friends already know everything I've ever told y'all, anyway. I'm just crazy.

Our late-ddog DID bite a book salesman once. I was TELLING the guy, "Don't get out of your car till I put him up!"
* sigh *

(((scattered))) I cannot imagine going through something like that.

LOVE the stories of the misplaced books. I told y'all about finding the organizing book I had given ds under a HUGE pile of stuff in his room after it began to resemble a landfill.

Missing a lot of the SHEs from former villages... maybe they'll pop in sometime and let us know they're still alive.
Tomorrow is another day.
