Are you type 1 or type 2 diabetic, Nancy? DH is type 2. He only takes insulin in the a.m.
I lose 3.2 Lbs. last week, but gained 1.5 Lbs. this week, so I guess it evens out. I ate a salad with shrimp and a sliced hard-boiled egg on it and Ranch low-fat dressing. I ate a protein bar for a snack, as I was hungry and needed more protein than the shrimp gave me. I've read that more protein's good for people with Fibromyalgia.

As for looking well put together.
1. I made sure I took the time to straighten my hair.
2. My skirt was too long (riding length) but I wore boots with it. Remembered to wear dark hose with the boots (never wear skin coloured hose/tights with boots, always wear the colour of the boot.)
3. My top was slightly beaded and a great color for me.
4. Enough makeup to make me look bright and healthy. No dark lipstick, no eyeliner, eye brows were filled in with black pencil so they looked defined (and the stray brow hairs are plucked.)
5. Bold earrings. No thin chains.
6. My new coat 1) fits, 2) looks great with the black skirt and boots and 3) was bright (I picked the white/black herringbone patterned coat and was brightened even more with a red silk scarf at my neck.)
7. My purse matched my boots (coincidence and to much matchy-match is considered old lady looking, although since my purse is actually a backpack, I don't think old-lady looking doesn't apply.)
I will say that I felt great all day and that translated to more confidence in everything I did. I concentrated on standing up straighter as well since I didn't want bad posture messing with the outfit!

Way to Go, Kathryn!
Your outfit and everything from head to toe sounded wonderfully put-together. It's nice to feel confidence like that, isn't it!
I ate healthy all day, stopped eating at 6:45 p.m., walked 30 minutes and have been moderately active today, too.
I finished the Dr.'s list, need to do my day planner tomorrow, when DH returns from his Dr. appt., so I can put his appt.'s in my planner, in case I need to make any appt. after I see my Dr. later in the week, too.

That way, I won't schedule an appt. on a day DH needs to wait at home for his drug study nurse to call or when he has an appt., too.

Nancy has Type 1, FFriend, and has been diagnosed for several years - not sure how long.
FFriend, if you don't mind answering, what is your main symptom/discomfort of IBS. My limited knowledge of IBS is that the main one might be either diarrhea or constipation.
I've been enjoying all the "what I ate" discussions.
Yesterday we were surprised by an invitation to lunch. I'd had a high calorie day on Saturday and intended Sunday to be low, had a small breakfast. (not unusual for Sundays) Lately my weights have been in a good range and I don't want to rock the boat, with consecutive days of lots of calories! I needed a medium cal day that wouldn't startle the scale.
They chose an oriental restaurant, high in sodium, big on portions. I ate only half my Flower Chicken, ignoring the fried egg roll and going easy on the rice. But it was still plenty of food and sauce, sweet enough I knew I'd have cravings later. For supper I stuck with reasonable portions, and had my stand-by treat, pudding for dessert "closure" to finish off cravings without flour. This a.m. the scale was the exact weight as yesterday to the ounce
, so I'm pleased with my increasing ability to judge how foods will affect me.
Kathryn, it's very interesting to hear the examples of slight changes to keep from looking older than you are.

Well I'm back after having a wonderful time at the beach. Gone 9 days and am happy to report only gained 1.5 lbs. Not bad considering I did eat out most nights. Made good choices, but also indulged a bit, but nothing in excess.
I did drink...beer, wine and whiskey on occasion, but only one drink each night. Being able to eat breakfast and lunch at the condo helped. We shopped at W mart before getting on the island... that helped as well. There was a fresh produce stand not far from where we were staying and I was able to buy fresh peaches and tomatoes...boy were they good. I ate a huge peach most days while on the beach. One night we ordered pizza and took it home. It was delish...thin crusted, just the way I like it. I cut up a fresh tomato to go with my dinner and it was grand. Also helped me from scarfing up more pizza than I wanted.
One place we ate at restaurant that had hush puppies to die for...golly where they ever good. They were made with honey...very sweet and tender. I've eaten a lot of hush puppies in my life and these were probably some of the best I've ever had. They were large, so I limited myself to two. The fish and cole slaw were outstanding as well. Several times we ate and bread was part of the dinner. I had wonderful fish tacos that came wrapped in flour tortias. I scraped the fish off of the tortias and just ate that. It also came with a salad, so I was filled by the time I left.
We walked the beach several times a day...got in plenty of exercise as some of our individual strolls were more than four miles. We explored the island and spent two days walking state parks and such.
When I got my sweet attacks at night, I cut up my apple along with some almonds, seasoned them with truvia, cinnoman and vanillia flavoring and stuck the entire thing in the microwave for about 3 minutes.....yumm, yum and that did the trick.
I was glad I went ahead and signed up for another diet bet before I left. That really helped to motivate me to stay on track. I wasn't able to drink as much water as I usually do at home, but I did get in a good enough amount, and I did treat myself to more diet soda than I usually do when I am at home.
Coming home we had to eat at the Houston airport. That was sort of tricky. Most airports that I travel in have a McDonalds, Wendy's or Burger King and I usually order a salad off their menu. I don't know if the entire Houston airport doesn't have them, but in the terminal where we were there wasn't anyplace to buy a salad. Sweetie likes Panda Express, which was there, but I'm not fond of their food. We ended up getting our dinner at a fancy sandwich shop. I did eat a small portion of the bread...it was really good and tempting...but then scraped the inners of the sandwich and just ate that. And it was enough to fill me up as well.
Now I'm back on track. I had to do a grocery run yesterday so I bought a pre-cooked chicken, made some veggies and that was my dinner. Have enough left that it will be a repeat again tonight.
Living in a swimsuit for a good part of the time and having to walk six flights of stairs most days....the elevator was iffy at times...really helped me stay focused. In the past I might have used being on vacation as an excuse to over indulge, but after five months of hard work I didn't want to do that kind of damage to myself. Besides if I am making a commitment to a new life style way of eating then I needed to find a way to enjoy myself while staying on the plan.
In order to win this diet bet, I'll have to push a little harder now that I am back home. I still think its doable and even if I don't win, I'll still be closer to my big goal....That thought is what helped me stay focused while I was gone.

I thought today was a big success eating wise (even with my treat of a cola.)
I started my day with a half serving of chocolate. I avoided eating any baked goods at the social time before my classes. I took healthy snacks with me so I wouldn't get too hungry while at the house and I walked a mile (the first mile I've walked in ages.)
But MyFitnessPal tells me I did not have a good day. And I'm still hungry.
I got a lot more done today than I have in the days I've been experimenting with no breakfast or lunch so I'm not sure what nugget of knowledge to take away from this.

I ate healthy today, didn't have anything I shouldn't have had, except for cup #2 of International Coffee this afternoon.
I did scoliosis stretches 2 times, did yoga/Pilates & ankle/calf stretches for 15 minutes & marched at the laptop, while reading an e-book, for 45 minutes, working up a sweat. Had to s2s! I was breathing heavy, too, but not too much. Didn't cause exercise asthma, at least.
I'm not snacking after dinner because I take thyroid pill at bedtime.
Dr. is devising a plan for me to get off the medication I'm on, which causes Alzheimer's. He's trying to devise it prior to the annual exam, so it's one less thing for him to go over with me, during the appt. Good idea!

I keep signing in to await the plan. I'm anxious to see what he advises, as it's a habit-forming drug, so weaning off the slowest way possible is the best without withdrawal.
