Sarah Bernhardt is by far the best known and most loved peony in the world. In fact, it’s so popular it has become the flowery face of peonies in general. Sarah Bernhardt has the same pink colour as peach blossom, a colour that makes you feel like spring has sprung.

Origin
Sarah Bernhardt is a full-petalled peony with large, pink flowers that bloom in the late season and was bred in 1906 by French breeder Monsieur Lemoine. This variety is named after the famous French actress.

Color: Pink
Bud size: 30 - 50 mm
Flower size: 100 - 200 mm
Fragrance: Fragrant
Flowering period: Late
Flower shape: Double flowered, Full

Sorry for going MIA yesterday - I worked like a one-legged man in an ass-kickin' contest (I admit, I had to google a good idiom - my second choice would have been "I was running around like a blue-arsed fly", but I logged in a good payroll day and I got the house ready in time for my friend to come over and spend a good afternoon together. And I read a whole book in the evening - His Secret Daughter by Melissa Wiesner. It was a quick read and a total page-turner, though. But checking my library list, it's not the book I should have been reading (I have some that need to be returned next week and this one was not one of them).

Today - up early, as DBD and DS have another scout outing, this time a rock climbing outing (the scout leader has a new hobby :-) Tomorrow, there's a scout picnic 11-1pm, and DBD is invited to a birthday party 1-4pm, so it's gonna be a busy day. Today, we have to clean out the garage and the carport, and I need to take whatever we want to get rid of to the dumpsite (there's paint cans and other dangerous waste that need to be disposed of properly). Also, I'd like to get some strawberries and make some strawberry jam, and I had noticed a grain moth in the pantry (I have a sticky pheromone trap on the inside of the door to alert me), so I need to squeeze "go over everything in there" in my weekend somehow. Applying butt glue dissolvent and off I go!

helia, hoping having so much family over will bring more joy than trouble§
kittykatt, you asked yesterday about the scheduling - if BIL wanted to attend, then SIL would have made it work for him. But I don't think he wants to - their lifestyle is different from ours and he's just not too involved in family activities. I actually don't think he had been coming to the Christmas lunches at inlaws while they still had them, at least not in the past years. Sometimes it was work reasons, sometimes he was just someplace else with other people, and SIL was coming alone with the kids.

Good morning, Trissie, and thank you for starting us off with another beautiful paeony. I'm glad you had such a productive day yesterday, and that's very interesting about BIL and SIL.

I never made it back here yesterday, but I had a very good session in my garden.- the weather turned out .perfect - and also had a long chat with DF CW.

Today I've had a very nice lie in , after the statutory 4.30 am wake up call from Matilda, I just went back to sleep. Not sure whether we had rain overnight, or not, but it's a dry,.
windy start with some sun. We're going out for a meal this evening and meeting.friends there, so I need to check with DH what time he wants to leave, and work back from there. In the meantime, there's a whole day to fill and enjoy. :D

ATM it's just a tiny drip every 30 minutes or so, out onto the patio, which I'm catching in a watering can,.so as not to waste the water. I do *not* want to end up like Dnextdoorneighbour D who had a waterfall down the back of her house! And this is covered by our Homecare contract, so why not make the most of it.)

Well, that is a new idiom to me, trissie! I feel that way too - busy yesterday and a busy weekend ahead of me. Nice you could read a book!
I hope you are able to fill your day with fun and productive activities, Kitty! A meal out with friends at the end of the day sounds lovely.

Yesterday continued to be a whirlwind. We ended up with 20 people here - more just kept coming LOL! - for dinner. The Cs brought some food too, so there was plenty. I made such a big salad that there's a lot leftover now. I had to make another grocery run in the afternoon because I had completely forgotten to shop for the paella ingredients (other than the seafood order) what with shopping for dinner last night, pans of cornbread for the reception tonight, and day-to-day items for our 5 houseguests. SO I made another grocery run. Good thing I bought 2 boxes of brownie mix + ice cream at the grocery store bc the girls did not host a bonfire (s'mores) for dessert as I originally thought, so we were able to provide dessert for everybody. I also sat down with ds, and we finished the quiz; I put in some fun photos of dd30 and started printing the quiz out. Finishing that is on the agenda for today. I was able to s/s the main bathroom before people arrived for dinner last night. I did not get to dusting the far part of the living room. I don't think anyone really went back there, so that's OK. The last dinner guest left around 10pm. Dh and I were going to work on our joint speech, but we were too tired. We have an appointment to work on it at 7:30 this morning - in 35 minutes.

We ran our dishwasher 3 or 4 times yesterday. It was completely full each time.

Today: SO, I think I need to be at the church at 1 pm. Before then, I need to:
- bake 2 more pans of GF corn bread
- finish putting together the speech with dh
- finish printing out and stapling the quiz - 50 more copies, I think
- drop off the pans of GF corn bread + butter tubs + honey AND the quizzes at the reception venue

Right now, I'm up sitting ALONE in my living room. So nice! And quiet!! :)

Next:
- mix up the pans of cornbread and get them in the oven
- print out the quiz; stapling
- finish speech with dh

Later:
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- maybe, go for a walk?
- make the bed
- reclaim the kitchen
- refill the bird feeder
- spiff the MBR
- after 11 a.m., run the cornbread, butter, honey, and quizzes to the venue
- Walgreens: pick up my script
- lunch
- make sure everyone has what they need
- run and empty the dw at least once
- do I need to help MP and LP get downtown?
- order GF Korean food for dd30 to pick up before the reception (She will not eat at the reception; the catered food is GF but still from a restaurant which she feels is not super careful about cross-contamination)
- 1 pm go to the church - not sure in which car
- practice
- 3 pm service
- pick up GF order for dd30
- 5 pm - 10pm+ reception
- clean up

TaDas!
- up; coffee

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕
And good afternoon...

trissie thanks for the start and all the peony names this week. I'm not entirely CUOP but I read the part about your SIL sort of bullying your DH and your family about the arrangements. It must have been a rough week, I hope the busy weekend doesn't stop you from relaxing.

kittykatt what a lovely way to say it "a whole day to fill and enjoy". I'll take it as wisdom for the afternoon.

So, busy week. I have a job interview next Tuesday for the job I applied for (thanks to you ladies insisting I should). I need to prepare and read a bit about the job and company, and think, too.
Also MrNG had a health appt on Tuesday, details on the Members only section. And on Wednesday DS10 hurt his knees while skating (without knee protections on), as he complained about it more than for a usual fall, MrNG took him to hospital on Thursday afternoon for a check, but nothing broken, just seriously bruised "inside".
Trying to relax today. No sports this morning, DS7's handball practice is over for the summer and DS10 can't practice athletics sports or any sports for a few more days.
It is going to be hot. We didn't do the weekly online grocery order, MrNG may go to the large shop with one kid or two for "real life" shopping. Shops are crowded on Saturdays here (since they all close on Sundays), I'm not sure it's a good idea, but we will see.
Sunny weekend and upcoming week. 3 more weeks of school here.

TADAs
talked with MrNG until breakfast, breakfast with both kids
MrNG finally repaired the walking / running mill that we had bought secondhand 2 months ago (I think)
trip to library to return overdue books
trip to convenience store for some quick lunch
MrNG is almost finished preparing quick lunch

TODOs
lunch, cleanup
grocery shopping with the kids ?
do something outside with the kids
time to prepare my interview (or tomorrow) maybe 1 hour ? with ChatGPT probably
some house cleaning and other to-dos
also relax some
also some gardening when not too hot.
pizza from the store and a family movie for tonight

Thank you FFB! It is going well. I'm enjoying the people, but I'm aware that I will start to get grumpy if I don't allow for some alone time. Baby I is really cute! It is fun to have her here, and I'm enjoying chats with my dniece and dsil. Dh's family is really lovely!! I wish we lived closer. --I hope you can relax today. WTG on getting the interview!! I'll check out what is going on with your Mr. Nice Guy. Just popped over there. I'm adding Mr. NG to my prayer list.
