“Either you run the day or the day runs you.” — Jim Rohn
We have a choice between actively directing our time and priorities or reacting to whatever happens around us.

In practical terms:

You run the day when you decide what is important, make a plan, and focus on your priorities.
The day runs you when interruptions, emails, phone calls, other people's demands, or unexpected events determine how you spend your time.

And THAT'S why it's been so stormy around the Carolinas these days.
The Carolina Hurricanes done won The Stanley Cup.
I wouldna' had believed it.
Haaave mercy.
But keep your shirts on, boys. Remember where you come from.

Ahem.
back to the homefront

I intend to run this day, yes. Glad the weekend of rushing is over. Settling down to normalcy around here, and remarkably, no appts. Whatsoever. Until I look on HRH's calendar. (I hope still nothing)

He feels better today, although he denies it. We'll see.

LOL, Harriet! I just told someone last week that they had no business playing a game on Ice skates in June!

I'm off on a minute to meet maintenance people at the cemetery for a walk through at 10 am

Good morning

I am welcoming this week with no appointments. The only thing on our calendar (beside church) is voting on Tuesday. I have the 3 page sample ballot printed so I could research & make my selections before I reach the voting booth and start marking the official ballot.

DS17 and I have come to an agreement on a trade. We will trade our time. However many minutes he spends mowing and weedeating, then I will spend equal number of minutes cleaning his bedroom & bathroom. It is a WIN WIN for us both.

Project of the day = The other dining room table and chairs. Declutter, deep clean including flipping table and chairs over to polish all parts of them.

Food prep focus = BBQ chicken, hamburger patties, & fish nuggets. Sautee a pan of sliced onions & bell peppers until caramelized.

Next up -
** Daily load of laundry
** Purple bucket
** first meal of the day

Good morning! It’s quiet around here; the offspring are still asleep. DC would sleep all day if you let them, but DD would usually have been up two hours by now. I don’t know how late she went to bed last night. I didn’t fall asleep till nearly one, and she was not upstairs then. I don’t know if I mentioned, but she is working hard to make a replacement for her wallet/purse. She is probably halfway finished, maybe two-thirds, and she started on it a few days ago, so I think it will be a close thing.

I need to start pushing to get ready for our trip Wednesday. The first events at the convention start at noon, but registration starts at eight, so I’d like to try to get there in the morning. We shall see, though. I can count the times I’ve been ready to leave first thing in the morning on one hand and have fingers left over.

I’ve got a stack of things that need to be done: DC has a doctor’s appointment next Monday, so they really need to have their bloodwork drawn before we go. DD has chipped a tooth; as of Saturday, it was bothering her enough to want to go to the dentist. My tires leak air, and I’d really like to have them looked at before we go (by a better tire shop than the one that installed them). I’d also like to get an oil change. And I need to do a run to the drugstore — maybe a couple of them, as the one is often out of my body wash, while the other doesn’t carry the pee pads I use in my size. Time for me to make a big red list on my computer and then make things turn green!

In the South, no less! We were rooting for the Canes. The Blue Jackets didn’t make the playoffs, and the Leafs have, let’s say, struggled for a while now.

Off to my list!

Inspired by others who are acknowledging their OMM. I decided to do something similar.
Brain Dump. Big and Small OMM =
** 2025 Taxes filed….In progress. Waiting on CPA
** Financial accounts changed location….In progress. DS52 and team working on it
** Shed wall repair & extend metal fence….waiting on DS17 to holler calf rope before I hire someone to do it.
** Prepare to move = in thinking process in how to proceed with Buckets of paint sorted, decisions and decluttered.
** Two prescriptions needed - in process. Waiting on pharmacy to text they are ready.
** Mail sent on May 29 is missing. Both letters had checks in them. Step #1 -Verify with bank the checks were not cashed. Step #2 = ask post office about the free-standing mailbox in their parking lot that I put the letters in
** Find a lawyer to update will and recommendations for asset ownership transfer. On hold…waiting for financial account transfer to settle.
** Funeral arraignments - order headstone. Meet with funeral director to make plans and pay.
** Ants! Tiny ones inside and big red ones outside on far driveway. Step #1- Decide on how to treat. Step #2= Take action.
** Chia seed or Flax seed added to my diet. Which one improves my micronutrients the most?
** Okra - where can I fit it in? Plant seeds here and there in the raised beds.

next up -
** Walk 3 circles (aka about 10 minutes)
** Take blood pressure so the people will stop calling me to tell me to do it.
** Update spreadsheets
** Cook Bacon & chicken, Bacon & hamburger patties, bacon & hot links, onion & peppers

** hang/fold/PA clothes in dryer
** make changes to how batteries are being charged. DH is only leaving them on the charger for 10 minutes then tries to use them. argh...

Coming back through after trip to cemetery. This really is turning into a big job at the moment. Of course, the chair for the last year had done very little, and the chair before that was in poor health at times and had several surgeries. At the cemetery we had a very large tree limb come down in the storm I mentioned yesterday, so need a call to tree company that is scheduled already for next week. And I've left a message for a member of the cemetery board to get an electrician and to follow up with him on another question. And I need to figure out where we can put fill dirt so we can do some backfilling and straighten monuments. (The new amphitheatre area is where fill dirt used to go, lol.)

I have my workout at two today. We'll grill brats and hamburgers for our supper tonight.

I'm just feeling overwhelmed. And not wanting to do this trip Wednesday to Sunday. I thought we were mostly visiting distilleries and tasting but the "itinerary" has a lot of visiting liquor stores and Kroger and stuff like that for "hunting" rare bottles. So I might go to the SAR library or a historical society library, even if I just get a chance to write. I do not want to go shopping with other wife!

Update later 'cause I forgot to post this: talked to the very energetic guy who is on cemetery board but very involved with his businesses so I hate to lean on him a lot. But he is going to call the electrician for the outlet, we talked about where to put fill dirt, the large tree limb down (tree company to assess it to see if work can be added to work next week) amd the fact that the key to the mausoleum doesn't work. He recommends just calling a locksmith and having a key made for it. So I feel better.

Wow, time to get ready to workout.

Hi everyone!!

Thank goodness for orange juice! Dh had another low BS this morning. I told him maybe he should decrease his insulin a bit to see if that changes anything.

We are having potato salad, pasta salad and ham "steaks" for supper tonight.

2/3 litter boxes got deep cleaned this morning. There was also the counter top compost bin that needed to be soaked in vinegar for a while, so I did that. It's an very easy day here. I really overdid it yesterday. My calve (?) muscles still hurt a bit today.
