Where's your energy better spent? Friday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

From James Clear:
If you want a plant to grow, you can fuss over it every day—watering, weeding, moving it toward the sun. Or you can place it in the right soil and let nature do most of the work. A seed planted in the right spot often thrives on its own. Life is much the same. Progress is not only about how hard you work, but also about where you decide to work.

Where is your energy better spent right now: pushing harder or planting yourself in better ground?

Putting seeds in the earth was not the best for me the best is to get plants
and then remember to water them. Some plants were a fail as well so far the hudrangias are not looking
very alive and it's too sunny where I planted them. sigh oh well.

I'ts cool and cloudy here today. Rain in the forecast did not happen yet so I watered.
Catching up on some journals was good.

Did not walk at the early time slot b/c of the cooler temps.
A couple of tasks eat the frog type on the docket. sigh
Oh well... I need to remember some fun things after them.
-----
I have walked ddoggo 1/2 block more today then she played in the back yd. hunting,
while I trimmed neighbors lilac the was coming through the fence. Raked a bit and it was good to
work at the back corner while it was protected from the rain that was actually just sprinkles.
It's a great time to take jars out to the shed that have been sitting on the counter too long.
Daily Delete new card! ! see above and some e-mails gone too.

Good morning

Twins - Thank you for the start and sharing that quote. So true.

I did not have the best night sleep. DS17 called around midnight with a teenagerism and then I didn't go back to sleep for a couple of hours. I ended up with only 5hr 17min sleep so am feeling the energy drag from that.

Daily pathway steps are being followed because I feel the need for extra guidance. Just do the next small thing....repeat .....repeat....

Next up -
** daily lol switched from washer to dryer
** purple bucket
** portion chicken servings and put into freezer.

I like the better ground, prioritizing what's important to nurture and encourage!

I have a lunch out today - I seldom accept lunch invitations and this one has been rescheduled several times so I'm not particularly invested in going. But I will. I really like this person - she's involved at the temple but wants me to do genealogy for her and I just don't have the bandwidth. I wish I had the bandwidth right now for what I care about. I'm remembering that I was away thirteen days between 24 May and 24 June, so I'm playing catch up.

Last night we were invited to go to a Townsend TN cabin belonging to friends the first week of August. I am not keen on traveling right now but said I'd think about it. Dh brought it up to them, and they responded they were going to be there that weekend, and they'd love for us to go.

The baseball game was enjoyable. We sat with the friends I mentioned above and caught up with them. They have accompanied us to the beach before, they're one of those couples that I have things in common with both. We left game early - around 9 p.m.

And we're going to temple tonight - first evening for the interim rabbi, and after we're having dinner out with friends A and V, whom we've not seen in a while since we were away last weekend. So two event day for me, and I'm keeping the to "do influence" low right now. I'm still feeling sluggish after all the travel and a recovery day is okay.

I don't know what the weekend holds. There's nothing on the tomorrow's calendar right now, and only a neighborhood pool party on Sunday - optional whether we show up or not. Chance of rain in that time period also.

I have the roomba going on the screened porch right now. Amazing how much dog fur it picks up. I swept the corners earlier and might continue with dusting a little. Our front porch needs dusting badly too.

Lucylee, I did look back at your genealogy comments last weekend - yes it happens occasionally that ancestors are fabricated or a real ancestor linked to a notable person out of vanity. There's a local book that claims that an ancestor descended from a Revolutionary War general, however the ancestor cannot be a descendant of the couple that legitimately descends from the general. My ancestor was born about 1780, the couple to which he has been linked did not marry until after 1800. Wishful thinking on someone's part.

Well I I was up early to walk the pups, then I went to class, came home and made breakfast for the pups and Sweetie.

Made it to my coffee gathering and after returning home Sweetie and I took the pups for a walk.

Need to do some laundry and then make lunch for both me and Sweetie.

I was up supper early this morning because Coco needed to go out. That seldom happen so I’m a bit tired at the moment Perhaps I can catch a nap whenAmeila gets hers

Meanwhile my routines are done and I picked up my footprints last night before I went to bed

Good afternoon! I'm sitting here enjoying my lunch -- pesto hummus and pita that I picked up at last night's book club destination, a Lebanese restaurant. I thought I might save half for later, but I'm hungry, and it's tasty.

Have not done too much yet today -- again stayed up too late last night and overslept this morning. My body wants to get 8 hours no matter when I go to bed. The alarm I set to take my Wegovy worked nicely, but the volume on my phone was down far enough that it took a good long time for my regular alarm to penetrate my brain. I'm worried that if I turn the volume up enough for my regular alarm that the Wegovy alarm will be too loud. This will cease to be a problem in about 6 weeks, when school is back in session. DH has been sleeping in later for the summer, but once school is in, he will be heading in earlier, and I can take my Wegovy when he first gets up.

Did get some dishes done -- threw in some extra when I did my breakfast dishes. I'm hoping to be entirely caught up when DH returns from camp Saturday morning. Yikes! That's tomorrow morning! Fortunately, I'm pretty close. Actually did a few minutes on the treadmill this morning, too -- my legs are still mostly in rebellion from last week. DD threw in a load of wash -- she is borrowing a Supergirl t-shirt from her sibling to wear to the Supergirl movie tonight, but it was among the things DC keeps in a pile on their floor :roll: , so DD wisely thought it should be cleaned. She took the clean clothes out of the dryer, but she did not fold them. (Again, :roll: ) Well, we have a card table in the living room that can be used for such -- it had on it the sewing machine that we borrowed from Dfriend K for DD to make a replacement purse. (The purse came out quite well!) DD has started to pack that up, but there are some other things on the table, including some of mine. :oops:

Girls' night is tonight, and I have to get a couple of things from the store for my contribution. One of the book club ladies offered to pick up things for whichever of us might need, but I didn't take her up on it because I'm not sure how I'd pay her back -- if I go out to the bank for cash, I might as well go to the store. The thought of sending the kids crossed my mind, but I'm thinking of getting the stuff from a store we don't usually frequent, because they carry bulgur there, which I need for another recipe, and our usual store does not. So I might do Instacart, even though that will cost more.

I think Twins, LadyM, lucylee, and Rose all could use a rest! Nancy, you always seem to have so much energy! But you have my permission to take a rest as well. :D

Lunch is over. I should do the lunch dishes (and a few more). Have a great day, everybody!

My energy is kinda lacking right now. DGS-now14 :!: spent the night. When I saw that he was awake, I brought him his card and sang Happy Birthday. He said, "Today isn't my birthday. Oh -- yes it is." That's our little absent-minded professor. :roll:
I took him to local bar-b-que restaurant and we picked up lunch. He ate when we got back to my house, but I am saving mine for supper. After he ate, I took him home and gave hugs all around -- they are leaving whenever ddil gets home from work, probably within the hour.

I aggravated ds -- I offered to clean the house while they were gone. :roll: I would LOVE to come home to a clean house after a week on the road, but I guess I wouldn't want my dmil doing the cleaning either. Good gracious I wish they would let me straighten up things over there.
I say this, ignoring the fact that I actually should be
* washing dishes/unloading the dishwasher
* s/s the bathrooms
* vacuuming my own floors
* dusting
* changing my sheets
* pruning some shrubs (but I'm putting that off till my eyes quit itching!)
* washing ds' truck, which I will be driving to church Sunday -- mechanic says he should be getting to my Tahoe later today or first thing Monday (and of course, it has been sitting there all week)

And I say all that and really, I think I need a nap.

Twins -- thanks -- I wondered if you saw that -- the fabricated ancestor... LOL.
Tomorrow is another day.

DH isn't doing well today so I am being extra vigilant on monitoring him. The a/c is set on 78F inside the house which is about 20 degrees less than the outside temperature. You would think DH would be plenty warm, but he is cold and covering up with a blanket while sitting in his recliner. Not being able to regulate his body temperature is one of the symptoms he experiences with amnesia.

The deer vs pickup experience has come to an end with the completion of bumper replacement. Since we have a high deductible ($5k) on vehicle insurance, we had to pay for this $2964.72 expense. It wasn't pleasant but I remain thankful that it wasn't worse.

Tam Jalapeno peppers are supposed to be mild. However, my mouth is still burning from a single bite of one pepper. The Fooled You peppers look exactly like the Tam Jalapeno peppers, but the taste is nothing alike. I am going to pull the Tam Jalapeno pepper plant up so i don't make that mistake again.

sheets are out of the dryer folded and put away.
I boiled eggs and they have been peeled and are deviled now.
That was on a whim. They are tasty.

Dishes await. x
I still have 1500 steps to get in / that would be a walk did not do that yet.

Lunch was lovely. I enjoy this woman's company a lot it's just hard to get me out of the house. I got to stamp a little after getting home. I've walked and fed the dog, and need to do a little more straightening up and p.m. routine before we take off in a few minutes.

I loved getting some creative time.
