Saturday Sightings

Are you scanning the horizon today? On the alert for your household?

It's National Sunglasses Day in U.S. Be sure to protect your eyes in the bright sunshine with sunglasses that are large enough to protect peripheral vision, too, and convenient enough to carry with you in case they are needed. National Sunglasses Day happens each year on June 27 as a day to inform people about the dangers of UV exposure. Wearing sunglasses is more than just a fashion statement. Wearing sunglasses is also about protecting your eyes from harmful elements. The history of sunglasses can be traced back to the Inuit tribes in the Arctic regions. In order to maintain vision from the glare of the snow and water reflections, the Inuit's created an eye covering with slits in front of the pupils to control exposure to brightness. Made from bone or wood, the Inuit eye coverings were the inspiration for contemporary goggles.

The original folding glasses, the Persol 714 sunglasses, debuted in the 1960s when the iconic actor Steve McQueen wore them in the film The Thomas Crown Affair. These glasses were based on the Persol 649 model. However, the adaptations included 10 additional manufacturing steps to allow them to fold. In 2006, a pair of Persol 714s from McQueen’s personal collection were auctioned off at nearly $70,000.
Famous sunglasses worn by Jackie Kennedy during the years her husband was president were called "Jackie Os" because they were protectively large, and round.

What sighting are you expecting today? How cool do you look in your protective shades?

Harriet thanks for starting us out today!
I have glasses on they have uv protection in them.

I was glad I did a sniff today and hopping for no skunk Sat. /
but had to wait a bit to let ddoggo out b/c yep there was an icky odor not too bad
and it dissipated after a while.

I've put coffee grounds out where I was working in the back yesterday
that I got mosquito bites two of em. Better today thankfully.

Ddoggo jumped up on my lap first time in two weeks since she has done that.
Thankfully she is continuing to be on the mend and her appetite is back now
as well she's showing more interest in food.

We are doing a bit longer walks each day to work back into those.
Yesterday it rained in the p/m so stayed inside and I did some catch up on tasks
also some cooking. Kitchen looks great this morning yea!
Today went around the block & past two other houses a bit longer than
we've done in a while.

Put some decor out on the deck ahead of the 4th to see how they do
if the winds kick up.

-----
Doing some rounds 2 to 5 & 15 min. at a time.
Ripped out a seam might make a hair scrunchie later'
Branches x 2 in wheel burrow to front behind trailer.
Leaves in can 1/2 full.

Waving to everyone!

Peek a boo, I see you!!

I needed to go to Walmart early this morning. Yikes! I was driving east and it was foggy. Fog is worse than rain or snow I think.

Dh needed soda and it was on sale for less than $4 for a 6 pack of bottles. I brought home 8 of them and 6 packs of Sprite for myself.

Now I have to unload the truck. Of course dh is sleeping. I have decided that I am not going to wake him up unless I really need to. He's just so startled when he wakes up.

Good morning

Happy Birthday to Helia! Sending wishes for a great day and new birth year.

I am thankful for a good night sleep without interruptions from my favorite teenagers. I woke up naturally at 6:30am and felt ready to get going.

I've been outside watching sunrise and doing this & that for a large part of my morning so far.

Now I'm drinking my coffee, collagen and enjoying slowly eating 100g jar of cottage cheese while CUOP.

DGS29 has requested to spend time with me today. He has offered to come here or meet us in the city. For many years we had regular one-on-one time together but now DH is included because I can't easily leave him. DGS29 and I can still find moments to have frank conversations when DH isn't within hearing. DH sometimes repeats what he hears when he shouldn't. I've been DGS29 confidant for decades and he talks openly to me while knowing it will be kept private.
ANYway, we will meet DGS29 in the city at high noon today to spend time together.

We had a light rain overnight. We woke up to everything being wet but nothing showing in the rain gauge. No yard care will happen until the grass dries.

Scratching Plan A and moving on to plan B
DH is sick so we won't be making a trip to city. I encouraged DGS29 to postpone getting together in case whatever is causing DH digestive distress is viral. He agreed.

DS52 is texting the progress and challenges with moving our financial accounts. It should not be this difficult, but our financial institution is not playing nice. DS52 is going to get a team of financial advisors to put pressure on them.

Considering what goals and focus to do for the new month. I'm still learning how to utilize Google Health and work with AI personal trainer to develop a strength working out that is a balance between being doable while also challenging. It is a work in progress. I've asked for AI to develop a weekly workout plan for me that includes an upper body strengthen workout, a lower body strengthen workout and an overall body stretching workout. I plan to cycle through those 3 workouts twice a week and take one day off. I also don't want any exercises that require me to get on the floor. Currently it is regenerating the entire workout plan it previously developed for me so I am waiting for it to finish and see what plans it comes up with

I have had my lunch and it was surprisingly good had not made that before
just cream cheese & turkey wrap with bacon and a white dip I Made
with s. cream mayo & dill relish. Made it head easy peasy.

Happy Birthday to Helia!

I've been out side and sighted a bird's nest that blew down.
Earlier ddoggo sniffed a diff oned out af the same tree.

I watered and rinsed off a lawn chair birds and pitched on
a robin I think it was close by. Lives here.

Learned I'll soak both feet next time in the bigger container not just the one.
