Mornin', Twins'! I will go, go, go to my appt and then get back here hopefully before the heat of the day bakes me! Then I will get things done, done, done.
lucylee, I think I remember the Dorothy shoes at the Smithsonian, so I think your ds' family went through the portion that is the beautiful, iconic brick building. Of course, I was there long ago, so things could be all changed around by now. Very good memories of the Smithsonian, though - airplanes, space capsule, so much.
atlantic flyer is our Canadian villager we haven't seen since last month - sending happy upcoming holiday wishes to her. Hoping her children in her SS class are keeping her amused. She was already having surprisingly high temps.
vergerswife, hoping we get to see you often!

Ta da! Garbage to the street - dh hadn't done it and he's still out after his workout earlier. And I checked on my hydrangea at the side of the house and clipped a few little blooms to put beside my sink. I love it when I have white hydrangeas blooming.
I need to throw on clothes and walk ddog before it gets any hotter here. We're going for high of 96, which will be "feels like" well over 100 with our humidity. So that's next.
And....later: Got in three laps with ddog, talked to a couple of neighbors along the way. Already feels like 93 degrees.
Dog is fed, laundry is going. I have nothing on my schedule today and tomorrow, and only the cleaning lady and my workout on Thursday. Nothing on Friday. I know dh is going to try to fill the calendar, he's going to need some socialization.

Good morning
I've enjoyed being outside several times this morning. The fresh air and sunshine are like a magnet pulling me back outside for >>>>insert any reason<<<<,
A lifelong VDFriend came and sat outside with DH this morning. I so appreciate DH having someone to talk about shared memories from decades ago. Those memories are clearest for DH and he thrives when he talks about the details of life then.
Project of the day continues with decluttering in the shed. I want to think that it is half done, but reality says that might be too optimistic. All I know is that if I don't quit & keep working on it then eventually it will be done. I am thinking of this project as a gift to my kids/grandkids so someday in the future they don't have to deal with all this stuff. Bonus is that "I" will get to enjoy having a decluttered and organized shed. Making dreams come true is my goal.
Food prep of the day = Pancake/sausage/egg/cheese stacks. Bacon cheeseburgers cooked in the smash burgers way. I'll caramelize some onions to put on some of them, but the teenagers beg to not put onions on theirs. Spaghetti noodles with sauce.

I have been an excellent mood when I first got up ...
Got trash out to the street.
journals & planning happened
I forgot to dust my bedroom yesterday so did that this morning.
We walked.
Then my mood tanked. More on that in J & C.
I need to do a walk about in the basement.
Also I have the duster by the steps to take with me and I can dust walls in one room at a time
even if it takes all week!

I've mowed 4 times this morning in small segments of time. I don't want to get overheated so I mow for 5-10 minutes and then stop. I'm spending time outside & making progress on the yard without danger. It is a good combination for me.
My shoes are becoming yucky looking because I don't change shoes when I mow. So I ordered shoes & inserts to have on hand when I am going someplace that I prefer not to wear grass-stained shoes.

Most importantly to me is having shoes with good support so my feet are not hurting.
The prepared food was a hit and complements received for my efforts. I didn't eat any of it because I eat different food than the family. I wish i could eat those foods because it smelled and looked wonderful ......but my body insist on being different. I am learning to be content with what I can eat. it's a process.

Hello, all! I am trying (and not really succeeding so far) to get back into my routines after having them thrown off for two weeks, first by our vacation and then by DH being away at Scout camp. This heat is not helping. We have the a/c on in the living room and dining room. It does not feel unpleasant, but going into the kitchen feels like going into a sauna. The humidity hits just as hard as the heat does. According to the app on my phone (we don't have an exterior thermometer), it's only in the 80s. At any rate, I'm trying to convince myself to at least do what I can in the air-conditioned area, but I just want to veg, or maybe doze.
I have to take DC to a doctor's appointment later -- it's the only thing I need to go out of the house for. Trying to decide whether I want to drop them off, go home, and pick them up after they're done or go in with them and wait in the waiting room. Definitely not going to wait in the car -- I don't want to keep it running that long, and I don't think opening the windows will do, even though the medical building's right on the lake.
I should go up to the attic (ugh) to take pictures of the leak in the dormer to show the roofer when he comes for an estimate tomorrow. It's only supposed to get hotter, so I'm hoping I can spare them the trip into the attic. Although they might want to anyway, so I need to clean off the attic steps, which serve us as a sort of closet, since we're very much lacking in closet space.
I've got dishes that need doing in the kitchen (out of the a/c zone), but I'd also like to get the dining table cleaned off (in a/c), tidy up the living room (a/c), and do a load of laundry (in the basement, which is out of the a/c but might be cool, at least cooler than the kitchen. I think I'm going to try to make a list of tiny tasks. It doesn't really work to get me moving on to bigger tasks when I do that, but at least something will get done.

(((Mystery))) WHY do dormers cause such problems??? You'd think builders would have come up with some solution for this by now!
TA-DA -- I have done all my morning routine * before noon!
-- then ran some errands: church, post office, drug store, utility office (to drop off gas bill)
-- talked to dmom
-- talked to mechanic (He says I am the next vehicle, and he will call me back later this afternoon.)
Just noticed that the ac filters need cleaning. Rather than go to the car wash, I think I will just try doing them with my hose with the strongest power nozzle.
Gas bill (natural gas for heat) was only the $13 minimum charge this time. I dread seeing the electric/ac bill. This air has not cut off in a while. It is set on 73, but I know when I start vacuuming the house, I'll be glad I set it that high. Last night, I had it on 72.
That menu sure does sound good, Cathy!
Twins, I have two hydrangeas and they have never bloomed.

They are very full and healthy looking with beautiful green leaves, but no blooms. One is about 8 years old and the other is 2 years old. Any suggestions?
Happy Canada Day to you too, AFlyer!
