Conga Through the Footprints Friday

"Footprints", the leavings of our darling household members (or our own) strewn across our home, can be a surprisingly obvious ( ) and therefore helpful no-brainer way to start on our day.

In 2013 we had a discussion here, scratched our noggins and to the best of our remembrance Ramblin' (in a former handle incarnation) gave the detritus that name. Emptynester and Indiana had particularly liked it.

Hard to Conga until you've picked up the footprints of other's recent dances!

Do you have footprints through your house today? Are there likely suspects? ;)

French novelist Gustave Flaubert on happiness:
"The secret of being happy consists of knowing how to enjoy yourself—enjoy being at table, in bed, enjoy standing up, sitting down, enjoy the nearest ray of sunshine, the slightest bit of landscape: in other words, love everything."

Funniest foot print ever? I can't remember.

I have emptied the dishwasher and washed all of the large pots/pans/lids/bowls.

(Skippable rant) The smoke isn't as bad today. I've heard that some Senators in the USA have been complaining about the smoke from Canada. In typical Canadian fashion, I could say "Sorry!" but we can't control the wind and Mother Nature doesn't know where the borders are. I do recall that when California had that massive fire a couple of years ago, Canada sent water planes to assist. Weather forecasters are also talking about the smoke, the wind and how bad it all is. What people aren't talking about are all the people that have lost their homes and have nowhere to go and nothing to take with them other than what they could carry. (end skippable rant)

It IS Friday, so I have a stitching group to go to.

d harriet - the footsteps left around the house are mine and the dogs lol.
lol on not being able to dance unless things are picked up lol!!!! I loved it - made me smile!!! lightened my day already bc of you!

hi d cathy yay on your pots and pans
oh don't worry about those senators etc. it is not based on science etc. it's just mouths moving without substance. I can't imagine what it is like in Canada and Minnesota! We have forest fires in Florida and in California etc. Colorado is in a drought. I was once in South Dakota and there was a fire where water planes went over us. All of us working together to get the fires under control

happy stitching group day. d cathy

starting card file:

1. trash card (I love d nancy's card: Pitch & Toss Day!)

Good morning! So many footprints around here, Sherlock Holmes couldn't track them!

Love the quote, Twins!

Cathy, one of those senators is mine. Our anti-immigrant senator from Colombia. So you can take him with a shaker of salt, except that that's the kind of person that holds power right now.

Just don't trash your cards, blessed! :D

Have you found any funny footprints, Harriet?

DC has play practice this afternoon and needs to leave in about half an hour. I should make sure we have enough eggs to make a frittata for dinner. If not, I need to decide whether to pick some up or to choose something else for dinner. Other than that, I have no reason to leave the house today. Although I didn't think I had reason to leave the house yesterday, and dfriend K asked if I wanted to go on a Michael's run, so I did that. Picked up a couple more colors of floss while I was there, and then we stopped at the ice cream shop on the way home. I got the watermelon ice I tried last time -- so refreshing!

I already washed the breakfast dishes. I'm not going on the treadmill today in the smoke. I suppose next up would be wash, but I should probably figure out something to throw in DC's hands for brunch as they rush out the door. Toaster waffles? Pop tarts? Bagel & cream cheese? Hmm. So off to the kitchen I go; I probably won't have time for wash till I get back. Have a great day, everybody!

I don't know how I didn't see Harriet's earlier post this a.m. Perhaps a case of not enough coffee? Anyway, I'm getting my second cup now and turning to addressing the day.

Yesterday I had a wonderfully productive afternoon writing and documenting what I am supposed to be doing, which is the three generation family narrative. It felt good to break through to work on it.

This morning I'm kind of all over the place again. Realizing all the stuff I didn't do earlier in the week...or last week...or week before, lol. Dh has gone out for lunch so the downstairs is quiet.

Five jobs:
-reboot laundry over to dryer, do I need to run another load today?
-sort through papers in my downstairs "in box" which really is kind of a holding place, File, Shred, Recycle or
-do online return for Amazon - to drop off later today or tomorrow
-start Roomba on screened porch
-write thank you note re: luncheon on Wednesday and get to mailbox

More jobs to remember for later....
-find cemetery checkbook and write check for electrical work last week
-call power company re lines still on the ground at cemetery
-What else...to be continued...

Has anybody seen my motivation? Trying to make myself do things. The next things on the agenda are to clean out the fridge before they pick up the trash and to exercise. I can do my chair exercises here in the filtered air/ac, so the smoke is no excuse for this one. After that, I should flip the wash, which I was able to get in before taking DC. Yikes! I will need to pick DC up before I can finish all those things, so I'd better get started on something!

Waving to Twins and Nancy and all who come later!
